I Don't Want to Miss a Thing

09

The entire way to Sidney’s house we talked about everything and anything. I didn’t really care what we talked about because I was just so happy to finally be with hime after all this time. We held hands and just enjoyed each others company. When we reached his house, Sidney grabbed my bags and led me into the house, walking in before me and turned on all the lights. When I walked in I stared in amazement at the space and view his house had.

“Wow, I know I’ve been here before, but this place is so beautiful.” I said walking to the large bay windows that over looked the lake.

“Yeah, I still can’t get over it sometimes.” Sidney said, coming up behind me. He wrapped his arms around my waist and rested his chin on my shoulder, pulling into his chest. We just stood there in silence, enjoying being in each others arms.

“It’s so nice to be here.” I whispered.

“It’s so nice to have you here.” He kissed my neck and sent shivers up and down my spine as he continued to kiss my neck.

“Sidney, please stop. That really tickles.” I whined

“Why do you think I’m doing it?” He smirked

“Because you’re mean.”

“Oh that’s cold.” He spun me around and rested his forehead on mine. “You look so beautiful tonight.” He whispered

“Thanks and you look pretty beautiful too in that pink shirt.”

“What’s wrong with this shirt?”

“Nothing, it’s my favorite one.”

I pulled away from Sidney and sat on the couch and motioned for him to join me. When he sat next to me I rested my head on his chest and held his hand.

“I’ve missed you so much.” Sidney whispered, kissing my temple.

“I’ve missed you too.” I sat up and looked at him. “So listen, I want to talk to you about something. I was going to wait until tomorrow, bit I really want to tell you now.”

“Okay, what’s up?”

“I wanted to talk to you about me possibly moving up to Pittsburgh.” I whispered

“What?” His eyes lit up.

“I’ve been thinking about moving up there and transferring to Pitt. I wanted to see how you felt about that.”

“Do you seriously have to ask? I would love for you to move up there with me.” He said before kissing me.

“Are you sure?” I asked when we pulled away. “I still need to think about it more because it’s such a big deal. Knowing that you are okay with the idea, which I knew you would be, makes this an easy answer for me.”

Sidney placed his hand on my cheek and rubbed it with his thumb. “Taylor, no matter what you plan on doing, I’m going to be happy for you and supportive.” He kissed my forehead before kissing my lips.

“Thank you, that means so much to me. I’m really leaning towards moving up there.” I smiled

Sidney smiled back at me and leaned forward to kiss me. I met him in the middle because I’ve been waiting to kiss him for so long now. The kiss started out like any other kiss we’ve shared, but then something changed. Sidney’s hand moved from my cheek to the back of my head, pulling me closer to him. I wrapped my arms around his neck and began playing with the curls that lay at the nape of his neck. His tongue traced my lower lip, begging for entrance. I let him in and moaned when our tongues began fighting fir control. The speed of our kiss increased and so did our breathing, we only pulled apart to catch our breath and even then Sidney’s lips never left my body. He began to kiss my cheek, my jaw, and down my neck. I couldn’t take it anymore.

“Sidney kiss me.” Was all I said.

He reattached our lips and we were breathing heavily again. Sidney’s hand once again moved from the back of my neck to my thigh, where he moved his hand up and down. I moved my hands too, I was now rubbing his back and broad shoulders. I suddenly found myself laying on my back with Sidney hovering over me, and we never broke the kiss. As we continued to kiss, my mind was going crazy, things were starting to pop into my head. Things were getting a bit out of control, not that I minded but I wasn’t sure if I was quiet ready for anything more than a hot make out session. Did I want this to go further? I loved him, so why not? I was seriously considering letting this go further, but then I remembered the promise that I made myself. I wasn’t going to have sex at least one year into the relationship.

“God, I love you. You are so beautiful.” Sidney whispered.

I blushed and groaned internally at the same time. He was making keeping my promise very hard when he said things like that. “I love you, too.” I said and then yawned unexpectedly. I guess my couple of days of traveling were finally catching up with me, especially since I was in another country at the moment. Sidney chuckled and sat up.

“Come on let’s go to bed.” Sidney grabbed my bag and locked the front door before heading up the stairs to his room. I didn’t even ask about a guestroom because we’ve been sleeping in the same bed since summer. Sidney placed my suitcase on the bed. I went through it, grabbing my pajamas and bathroom necessities. I quickly changed and brushed my teeth before taking out my contacts.

When I walked out of the bathroom I saw Sidney sitting on the edge of the bed and leaning backwards. I crawled onto the bed and kneeled next to his head.

“Hey.” I said bending over and kissing his nose.

“Hi.” He chuckled

“Bathroom is open.”

“I see that.”

When he walked into the bathroom, I crawled under the blankets and curled up into a ball. I sighed and snuggled into the covers more and waited patiently for Sidney to come to bed. As I laid there waiting for him, I was thinking about moving up to Pennsylvania. Would the move change everything for my life? Yes, no doubt about it. I would be away from my friends and my parents, but then I would be in the same place as the rest of my family. Would this change things for Sidney and I? Possibly, it could either bring us closer or make us hate each other. I’ve never spent a long period of time with him during the season in Pittsburgh. I was going to have to find out how things were going to work.
I was half asleep when Sidney crawled into bed next to me. I was starting to stress out about everything I was thinking about, until Sidney wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me into his chest. I was finally in a place that I’ve wanted to be for a long time now, falling asleep in Sidney’s arms.

“Goodnight, Taylor.” He whispered, kissing my neck.

“Goodnight Sidney.”

As Taylor slept next to him, Sidney couldn’t help but smile. She was finally back in his arms. When he opened the door at his parents house, he was so shocked to see her standing there. She looked amazing in the dress she was wearing, but he could also see some changes in her as well. Like she had lost some weight and looked pale. He knew that school had to be stressing her out and the distance between them didn’t help either because she was so worried about everything. Then there was the added stress of possibly transferring. The thought of her transferring made him smile even more because she was really thinking about moving in with him at the apartment. He knew that her parents probably flipped when she told them because she had just started school and is only eighteen.

“Don’t you think things are moving too fast?” Sidney asked himself

“No because I’ve never felt like this with anyone else before.” He whispered into the dark room, pulling Taylor closer to his side.

Sidney knew that he was ready to settle down and have a lasting relationship, and he saw that happening with Taylor. She didn’t treat him like a superstar athlete, she treated him like a normal person. She was a down to earth girl that worked for everything herself. Those were just some of the things that he admired about her when they first met. He also knew that he was ready for her to move in with him, especially after spending the summer together he knew that they could work together on things. He just had a feeling that everything was going to work out with them. He just hoped she decided to move up there.

Taylor shifted in her sleep and laid her head on his chest and wrapped her arm around his waist. Sidney sighed and ran his hand through her hair and down her back. He smiled when she snuggled closer to him. Sidney just simply held his girlfriend and closed his eyes, falling asleep.

I woke up to an empty bed and took advantage of it. I rolled onto my stomach and spread my arms and legs out until my back cracked. I sighed and sat up, looking for Sidney, I heard a crash and then a curse come from downstairs. Smiling, I slid out of bed and quietly walked downstairs and into the kitchen, trying to surprise Sidney. I stopped where I was standing and just watched him move around the kitchen. Seeing him making breakfast was a bit comical and I had to try really hard to keep quiet, but also seeing him cook did something to me. It made my knees go a bit week and made me realized that he was the one that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. That thought brought me up a bit short mostly because I was too young right now to even think about a future with a husband. Sure every girl dreams about whom she’s going to marry, where they are going to get married, how many children they are going to have, and what those said children’s names would be. For me I’ve always wanted to get married, but I don’t think I would have been thinking about that after only dating someone for a little over eight months. I guess when you know you’re supposed to be with someone you know it. I shook my head and tried to clear thoughts of marriage.

I walked up behind Sidney and wrapped my arms around his waist, I giggled when he jumped and messed up the egg he was flipping.

“What are you doing down here?” he asked still working on the eggs.

“I woke up to crashing and cursing, and I thought you were either running away or burning the house down.” I laughed, kissing his back.

“You ruined the surprise.” He pouted. “I was going to bring you breakfast in bed.”

“Oh, I’m sorry I didn’t know. Next time if you want me to sleep more just shut the door.”

Sidney laughed and turned around in my arms. He kissed me lightly before turning back around to the stove. “Well breakfast is done. There is coffee in the maker and peanut butter in the cabinet above the coffee.” He smiled and winked at me.

“You remembered.” I laughed

“Yes I did.”

For the next two days we hung out with Sidney’s family and I finally got to meet his friends. I could really tell that Sidney was enjoying spending time with his friends and being away from Pittsburgh and the hockey world for a little bit. On our last night in Cole Harbour his family and friends threw us a ‘going away party’. There was music, video games, joking around, and even some tears.

“Taylor, I don’t want you to go.” Taylor said hugging me before Sidney and I left.

“I know and I don’t want to leave, but I also want to see my other friends in Pittsburgh before I have to go back to school. Hey maybe some time you can come to Virginia and visit me.”

“Or Pittsburgh.” She smiled. “Have you decided yet?”

I shook my head. “No not yet, but I’m really thinking about it.”

“I really hope you do. You and Sid are perfect for each other and you deserve to be together.”

“Thanks Tay, that means a lot hearing that.”

“No problem. I can tell you that mom and dad agree too, and you know how hard dad is on Sidney.”

“Believe me I do.” I said remembering the first time I met him. I was so scared that he wouldn’t except me, but I was excepted by Troy Crosby quiet quickly.

“Taylor I want time with her now.” Trina said walking into the living room. Taylor and I chuckled as we hugged each other one last time and then I was in Trina’s arms. “I had a wonderful time dear.” She said

“Thank you for letting me crash your Christmas and for helping me out.”

“Nonsense, you are like a part of this family, Taylor.” When Trina said that tears began to fill my eyes.

“Thank you, that means so much to me to know that you approve of me.”

“Taylor dear, if we didn’t approve of you we wouldn’t have offered to fly you up here.” She squeezed me one last time.

I just smiled and hugged her back. Trina Crosby has become my second mother in a matter of a couple days. Sidney walked into the room and smiled at me and his mom.

“I’d hate to break this up, but we have to get home and pack some more for tomorrow.” He said

“Of course.” Trina said. She walked over to Sidney and gave him a big hug. “You take care of yourself and Taylor.” She said sternly like any mother would. “And come back to visit as soon as you can, both of you.”

Sidney chuckled and held his mother. “You know I will mom.”

We finished our goodbyes and told Troy what time we would be over in the morning so he could drive us to the airport. When we got back to Sid’s place we changed into our pajamas and finished packing our bags. Once that was finished we curled up together in bed and fell asleep.

The next morning I woke up to the bed shaking and bright light in my face. I could also hear Sidney trying to suppress his laughter.

“what are you doing?” I groaned

“Trying to wake you up. I’ve been trying for the past ten minutes. This is the first time that you’ve responded to anything."

I sat up and pushed the hair out of my face. “I must have been really tired last night.”

“Yeah, probably.” He walked over to me. “Good morning.” he said kissing my forehead. “You need to get ready soon.”

I sighed dramatically, “Fine. I’ll go, but I don’t want to.”

“You don’t want to go see all your friends in Pittsburgh? I know there is a certain blonde that keeps asking when his “bestest friend” is coming back. I also believe there are a few Frenchmen that want to see you as well.”

“Well when you mention my Frenchmen, then I must go.” I laughed at Sidney’s “hurt” face. I kissed his cheek before jumping off the bed. “You don’t have to worry because you are my favorite Canadian.”

Sidney chuckled and wrapped me up in a hug before pushing me towards the bathroom.

The flight to Pittsburgh was long and quiet. I laid on Sidney’s shoulder and fell asleep with his arms around me. As I was drifting off, I realized that I never considered myself as a snuggler, but I absolutely loved being in Sidney’s arms. He made me feel so safe and loved.

I woke up about two hours later and looked up at my ‘pillow’ and saw that he was also asleep. I didn’t move from my spot, I just watched him sleep. He seemed so relaxed and looked younger than his twenty-two years. I couldn’t resist it anymore, I leaned up and kissed the underside of his jaw. He stirred slightly, but didn’t wake up. I decided that he deserved to sleep, so I grabbed the book that I had bought to pass the time.

Sidney finally woke up when we were about to land.

“Good morning sleepyhead.” I kissed his cheek.

“Mornin’.” He yawned. “So are you excited to see everyone?”

“I am, I can’t wait to see all the guys and Vero again. I haven’t talked to most of them for a while.”

“Well I know that are all excited to see you. Oh, Marc-Andre and V are actually picking us up.”

I squealed quietly, “Yay, one of my favorite Frenchman and my best friend from Pittsburgh, well sorta.”

The pilot came on over the sound system, telling us to buckle out seat belts and prepare for landing. I opened the window shade and leaned over Sidney to watch Pittsburgh came into view. To me this was one of the best parts about flying, watching the place you are traveling to come into view, from really small to really big.

Once the plane landed and was taxied into the terminal, Sidney put on his Reebok hoddie and hat in his attempts to hide from the public eye. As we got off the plane I felt my excitement double, the could be my home permanently if I wanted it to be. The excitement wasn’t just from seeing the apartment, it was also getting to be in the city with friends.

Sidney and I made it through the terminal without a problem. When we got to baggage claim I saw Vero standing next to Marc who was also trying not to be noticed. He was wearing one of those hats that have ear flaps and fur and he was also wearing sunglasses. His outfit just screamed ‘look at me though you aren’t supposed to notice me’. Yeah subtle Marc-Andre…not.

“V!” I yelled as I rushed over to her.

“Taylor! It’s so good to see you.” She said giving me a hug. “How was your trip?”

“Everything I hoped for. It was nice, but I’ll tell you more about it later.”

“What, I don’t get a hug?” Marc asked

“Hi Marc,” I laughed and gave him a hug. “Nice disguise there.”

“Hey it’s more creative than Sid’s there.”

“What’s more creative than Sid’s?” Sidney asked, brining over our bags.

“My disguise.” Marc smiled that trademark smile of his.

“Yeah okay, the only reason it’s better than mine is because you’d never catch me wearing one of those.”

“So you won’t wear that, but you’ll wear those ugly ass yellow Crocs?” I asked.

Both Vero and Marc busted out laughing and I have to admit, I was having a hard time keeping a straight face.

“And you are making fun of my Crocs why?” Sidney asked seriously.

“Oh come on, Crocs are the worst invention ever and the ugliest pair of shoes ever.” I saw Vero and Marc look at each other with a bit of a worried look. Sidney just stood there looking at me if I didn’t even say anything. Were we really going to fight over stupid pair of shoes? I mean come on, everyone is subjected to their opinions. I decided that I was just going to compromise a bit here because I didn’t want our first fight to be over something totally immature and stupid. “If you really like your Crocs, I understand that. We all have our favorite pair of shoes. So I’ll try to respect the Crocs. I just won’t wear them.” I said. Sidney opened his mouth then closed it again. He looked away from me and let out a breath. My guess was that he didn’t want to fight about this either. Honestly, if we did fight over this I was going to be pissed because it would be pointless and pointless fights make me more upset.

Vero, trying to keep a fight from breaking out, grabbed my hand and led me out to their SUV. On the way to the apartment, Sidney and Marc talked about the upcoming games and Vero and I talked about Christmas and the New Year’s party later this week.

“So Taylor, would you be objected to a party tonight?” Sidney asked from the passenger seat.

“Not at all, as long as I get to see the gang.” I smiled knowing that they were no doubt going to be there. As I continued my conversation with Vero I saw Sidney texting everyone.

By the time we got to the apartment, there were cars sitting in the parking lot that I recognized. Funny that I’ve only been to Pittsburgh a few times and only have known everyone for a couple of months, and I already recognize their cars. When I climbed out of the SUV, I was only on the ground for a second or two before I was in the air and everything was spinning. I couldn’t help but laugh when I realized who was doing it.

“Jordan, put me down!” I screeched

“Fine, but you have to give me a hug because I haven’t seen you in fucking forever.” He demanded

“Fine.”

Jordan put me down and I turned around to give him a hug. I was passed from Jordan to Max, from Max to Kris, Kris to Tyler. There was someone that I wasn’t passed to and I didn’t see him anywhere.

“Aye yo, Jordan. Where’s my favorite Russian?” I asked

“He said he had something to do tonight and couldn’t come.” Jordan said. I nodded my head and followed everyone into the apartment. Once Sidney and I put our things away, the party started.

The party wasn’t crazy, it was really just a group of friends hanging out playing video games, picking on each other, and just catching up with everyone. I was sitting on the couch, talking to Jordan and Vero as we watched the other guys play NHL ‘10.

“Hey, I call playing Sidney next.” I called from the kitchen.

“As long as I get to play you after him.” Max answered

“Sounds like a plan to me.”

After Jordan and Kris played a series, it was mine and Sidney’s turn.

“I call the Penguins!” I yelled

“Who am I supposed to be then?” Sidney asked

“I don’t care, I mean if you really want be yourself I can be the ‘Canes.”

“You like the Hurricanes?” Jordan asked

“Yep. I also like the Rangers, Blackhawks, and the Bruins. Though I only like the Bruins because of Rask. Next to you Flower he’s my favorite goalie, oh and there is also Lundqvist.”

“So you like goalies, eh?” Sidney asked

“No need to worry, I will always be a center type girl. The rest of you don’t need to worry either because I will always be a Penguins girl, I won’t switch teams on ya.”

“Taylor, I have a question for you.” Jordan said.

I rolled my eyes before turning around to face him. I already knew what he was going to ask. “Jordan, you are my favorite Staal. No need to worry. Though if you start to suck, I’ll have to switch over to Eric.”

Everybody started laughing at his facial expression. I blew him a kiss before turning back to Sidney. “So am I the Pens or the ‘Canes?” I asked

“You can be the Pens.” Sidney said.

“Why thank you. Who are you going to be then?”

“You’ll see.”

Sidney made me close my eyes as he chose his team. I didn’t like that everyone ‘oh’ed and laughed. When I was able to open my eyes, there was nothing that gave away his team until the announcers came on.

“The Washington Capitals? Really, Sidney?” I asked raising an eyebrow.

“What, afraid you’re going to lose?” Max asked.

“Ah well I am playing against Sidney Crosby, so yea just a little. I also don’t want to hear Alex Ovechkin’s name or see his ugly face.” That comment got everyone laughing and I didn’t think this was funny. I really don’t like Alex Ovechkin. “Why are you all laughing? I don’t think this is funny at all, I really don’t like him.”

“Taylor, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a girl who was into hockey get so worked up about certain players.” Kris said

“Yeah well get use to it because I can get pretty nasty.” I turned and looked at Sidney. “You ready?”

“Yep and I’ll try to go easy on you.” He smiled

“Nah uh, I don’t want you to go easy on me.”

“Alright then, are you ready to lose?”

“Yep.” everyone laughed at me.

Surprisingly, I ended up winning the first game against Sidney, but not the second. When we were playing our third, Sidney kept passing the puck to Ovechkin and I think he was just doing it to get on my verves because they kept saying his name. It also didn’t help that some of the guys were commentating on my plays and Sidney’s plays and my reaction to things. At one point ‘Ovechkin’ took a shot on ‘Fleury’ and I tried to block it but missed.

‘Son of a bitch! Dammit Flower!” I yelled

Actually hearing me curse surprised Sidney. He paused the game and just looked at me. “Whoa, that’s the first time that I’ve heard you curse.” He said

“Sorry I just got frustrated.”

“Yeah, I noticed.” Marc said

I ran over to him and gave him a hug. “Sorry Flower, you know I love you. I kinda got caught up in everything. I also like to blame other people when something goes wrong and you are the goalie, so….”

Marc-Andre laughed and hugged me back. “It’s okay. Do you get that pissed at me for real?”

“Um sometimes. If you do something really stupid or if someone I don’t like-cough, Ovechkin, cough- scores. Don’t take it personally because to tell you all the truth, I yell at all of you. Especially you Max. You always seem to get into scuffles.”

“Hey, I can’t help it that everyone wants a piece of me.’ He said

I just laughed and continued talking to everyone, the game against Sidney forgotten. A few hours later everyone left because they all had something to do. What I think really happened was Sidney kicked them all out because he was getting tired and wanted to go to bed.
