Valentina Driscoll is very much of a snob - she dances ballet, only wears designer clothes, and never wears the same thing more then twice. Her parents give her whatever she wants. She's lived a charmed life. So, when Valentina's parents ship her off to her grandmother's, due to family conflicts, it's almost like she's being punished.

Enter Benjamin Delaney. The boy has never known anything outside of Deercreek, Missouri, and when Valentina comes to visit, the excitement hangs in the air for weeks. Everyone knows everyone in this small little town, and Ben just wants to show Val that sometimes, the grass is truly greener on the other side.
