Yusuke Urameshi quit, or depending on you ask was fired from being Spirit Detective after losing the first Demon World tournament. Three relatively peaceful years have past and the next tournament for kingship of Demon World is about to begin. A new up and comer known as Ethelred has become a favorite by some to win. Rumors claim he is the priest of an unknown entity, referred to only as "The Great Mother."
Hailing from a long line of demon hunters, new Spirit Detective Chiyori Fujiwara has been sent to observe the tournament on Koenma's behalf. Armed only with her enchanted calligraphy skills and an ancient scroll of sealing given to her by Koenma, she ventures into Demon World. It seemed like a simple assignment...
