A Brother For A Birthday Present
It’s been 2 years since Velaska and her parents moved to the East coast. It was a couple of days before Halloween, which also was Velaska’s birthday. She and Charlottee became such best friends that they see each other as sisters. Charlottee was at Velaska’s house in her bedroom talking. “So Laska, what do you want for you birthday?” Charlottee asked
“To see my brother and the rest of Avenged Sevenfold” Velaska said. Charlottee knows all about him and the band. They aren’t really a band she would normally listen to but spending so much time with Velaska, the band had started to grow on her. “I’m sorry I can’t kidnap him and bring him here for your birthday” Charlottee said
“I know, it’s just that I miss them. I don’t talk to them as much anymore because their band made it to the mainstream” Velaska said
“I’m sure they miss you too” Charlottee said
“Once I’m done with school. I’m moving back there. And I’m dragging you with me” Velaska said
“I can’t wait” Charlottee said with a huge grin. Soon Charlottee went home as it was late, and Velaska had classes the next day. Velaska got into a great college for accounting. And she had already started last year. Velaska was so happy that Halloween was on a Friday. That meant no school and she could spend the weekend recovering from her birthday. Luckily her parents told her that she didn’t have to get a job yet. She went to school full time and had “therapy” with Dr. Appleton once a week. They basically just went over if she had an outbreak and if so what caused them; and if the medication was working. She did however babysit kids on her block, so she did have money. She had no idea what her parents had planned for her birthday.
Velaska had found herself walking up to an empty house on her birthday. She found a note on the white board they had in the kitchen. It read: Good Morning Birthday Girl! Your father and I went to go pick up your birthday gift. See you shortly. Love Mom. Now Velaska’s mind was spinning with ideas of what her birthday gift could be. There soon was a knock on the door so Velaska ran to answer it. “Good Morning Laska” Charlottee said once Velaska opened the door
“Morning Lottee” Velaska said allowing Charlottee into the house.
“Please tell me you don’t plan on wearing your PJ’s all day” Charlottee said
“Dude I just woke up. Let me go take a shower” Velaska said
“I’ll pick out something punk and badass for you to wear” Charlottee said
“If you want to” Velaska said
Velaska got in the shower while Charlottee went through her clothes for the best birthday outfit. She picked out combat boots, a green plaid skirt and a black cami with a skull on the left breast. Charlottee was happy with it and soon Velaska walked in. Charlottee covered her eyes while Velaska got dressed. Once she was dressed, she fixed her hair by blow drying it and then flat ironing it. Once she was all ready for her day, she and Charlottee went into the living room. While they watched music videos off FUSE, Velaska made herself breakfast, which was scrambled eggs with cheese and toast. She made her way to the living room and ate her breakfast watching music videos. She cleared her mess and went back into the living room. Velaska heard her parents’ car pull into the driveway. “Velaska, we’re home. I need you to close your eyes” Mrs. Sanders said once she walked into through the garage door.
“Got it covered” Charlottee said
“Thanks dear” Mrs. Sanders said. Mrs. Sanders and her husband walked into the living room and set up Velaska’s birthday gift in front of the TV. “Okay, you can open your eyes” Mr. Sanders said. Charlottee uncovered Velaska’s eyes and when Velaska opened her eyes, she screamed. Then she jumped up and almost knocked her brother over into the TV. “M! I’ve missed you so much” Velaska said almost on the verge of tears as she hugged the life out of her brother
“I’ve missed you too V” Matt said hugging back
“Where’s my hug?” Jimmy asked
“JIMMY!” Velaska said the launched at him and pulled him into a hug. Then she hugged Zacky, Johnny, and Brian. “Okay Charlottee this is my brother Matt and his bandmate Jimmy, Johnny, Zacky and Brian. Guys this si Charlottee, my best friend” Velaska said
“It’s a pleasure to meet you” Johnny said
“Same here” Charlottee said
“So how long are you guys here for?” Velaska asked
“A week. Then we have to go home and get ready” Matt said
“Ready for what?” Velaska asked
“Tour” Brian said with a smile
“You guys are going on tour?” Velaska asked with smile etched on her lips
“God damn fucking straight we are” Zacky said
“Badass” Charlottee and Velaska said at the same time
“So how’s treatment been going?” Matt asked Velaska as he and the rest of Avenged Sevenfold took seats in the living room.
“Alright I guess. I have to take this organic medication everyday” Velaska said
“This is supposed to do what again?” Johnny asked
“Make me not allergic to the chemical that I’m allergic to” Velaska said
“So if you found out what’s wrong, how come you haven’t moved back home?” Jimmy asked
“Well I started school already. So I figured I would finish school then I would move back home” Velaska said
“What are you going to school for?” Zacky asked
“God, don’t you guys remember anything I tell you? I’m going to school for accounting” Velaska said
“Why accounting?” Brian asked
“Because I find bookkeeping fun” Velaska said
“You should’ve gone for business, then learn how to boss people. Then you manage us and you’ll never have to leave us again” Jimmy said
“Don’t worry, I’ll finish school. Then Charlottee and I are getting an apartment together in Huntington Beach” Velaska said
“Val will love to hear that” Matt said with a smile
“How is she?” Velaska asked
“She’s great. She misses you a lot” Matt said
“And I miss her. I feel so bad. With school, I don’t talk to you guys that much and I feel guilty about it” Velaska said
“Don’t. Life happens, and it’s not like you ignore us completely” Zacky said
“Let’s give her, her birthday gift” Johnny said
“What did you get me?” Velaska asked
“Actually we are all going in and paying for you to have the Deathbat tattooed on you” Brian said
“Well what are we doing just sitting around? Let’s go!” Velaska said excitedly as she basically jumped off the couch. Everyone laughed but got up and followed Velaska to the garage. “Be home by 6, I’m making dinner. And Charlottee you are more than welcomed to join us” Mrs. Sanders said
“I’ll see you at 6 then” Charlottee said with a smile.
Velaska drove to the local tattoo parlor. Velaska told the artist what she wanted and that she wanted it around her right wrist. The guys smiled and Charlottee was talking it up with them; she’s so happy she finally got to meet them. And was happy to see that Velaska’s birthday wish had came true. “This is my second favorite tattoo” Velaska said once the tattoo was finished
“It should be your favorite” Johnny said
“Which one is your favorite then?” Zacky asked
“The one in the middle of my back. The one my uncle paid for on my 18th birthday. The ‘me’ tattoo” Velaska said
“Oh the one with the lime green dragon going around a blue ball with an ‘M’ with a pointed tail? The one that will forever identify you?” Brian asked
“Yup. It’s my favorite because it’s me in a nutshell. But I totally love the Deathbat” Velaska said with a grand smile, which caused everyone to smile.
