To Apologize At The Gym
It’s been a week since Matt forced his sister out of his life. You brought this upon yourself keeps echoing in Matt’s head. “Val, what am I supposed to do?” Matt asked his wife
“What are you talking about?” Val asked her husband
“Her last words keep echoing in my head. In the paperwork it doesn’t give her current address. I HAVE to find her; she’s my sister, my family” Matt said with his head in his hands
“Well I know she goes to the gym” Val said
“Wait, you talk to her?” Matt asked looking up at Val
“Well yea, I gave her my cell phone number. We’ve been talking; she says she’s not ready to talk to you right now” Val said sadly
“Well when will she?” Matt asked
“I don’t know” Val said
“I need her to know how sorry I am” Matt said
“Well the best I can do is tell you where she goes to the gym. But other than that it’s up to her to contact you” Val said
“That’s fine. I just need the name of the gym and when she goes” Matt said
“Fine, I guess I can do that” Val said with a smile. Once Matt had the name of the gym and the time she’d be there, he called up the guys. He agreed to pick them up and head to the gym. “So how do you want to do this?” Brian asked as they were heading to the gym.
“Well it’s five against one, so I’m sure we’ll have an upper hand. I just ultimately want her to see how sorry I am. I drove my own sister away from me” Matt said
“I’m sure we will” Jimmy said reassuringly as Matt pulled the car into a parking lot.
As they got out of the car, they saw Velaska lock her car behind her as she walked into the gym. Matt smiled then frowned when he remembered how he treated her. They all got out of the car and head instead. They looked around for Velaska. They found her beating and kicking the shit out of the punching bag. The five of them looked at each other with a stunned look. They started to work out near by so they could get her when she was leaving. Once Velaska was done doing her routine on the punching bag, she went to the weights. She started out with 75lbs, that rep lasted 5 minutes before she slowly added 10lbs. the guys were surprised to she how much she could push and lift. They saw her take a water break, and that’s when they all walked up to her. They stood in front of her and she didn’t even know that they were there because she was listening to her iPod and her eyes were closed.
She nearly jumped out of her skin when she opened her eyes and saw all of Avenged Sevenfold crowded around her. “What do you want? To tell me I can’t come to this gym anymore?” Velaska asked with an attitude
“Actually to apologize” Matt said sweetly
“You clearly wanted me out of your life; so I think I’m just gunna go” Velaska said and got up. Brian grabbed her and held her arms behind her back and up above her head. “I want to apologize. I should’ve knew it was you and that you were telling me the truth” Matt said
“If you don’t release me, I’ll scream rape” Velaska threatened
“You wouldn’t” Zacky said. Velaska just moved her arms closer together and slipped out of Brian’s grip. Everyone was amazed. “But V, would you really scream rape?” Matt asked
“Maybe” Velaska said sitting down on the seat to the weights.
“But why would you do that?” Jimmy asked
“Because I have nothing to say to you guys and it’ll get you to leave me alone” Velaska said
“But Laska, why would you push us away?” Johnny asked
“Why would you push me away? When I had so much evidence that I was your sister that a blind person could see? Yet you pushed me away. You denied the tattoo you paid for. You knew it was me by the ‘me’ tattoo and by that point it was clear you didn’t want me around. How does it feel to be pushed away from the only family left?” Velaska asked looking at Matt
“Not very good at all” Matt admitted
“I feel low for the way we treated you” Brian said
“I knew it was you” Jimmy said with a smile
“You were always good like that” Velaska said with a slight smile
“Please V, I can’t lose you! It’s bad enough I, we, lost mom and dad. I’m so fuckin sorry!” Matt begged as he dropped to his knees
“Here’s what I’m gunna do; I’ll give you a week to prove how sorry you are. If I feel like you’ll die without me then it can be back to the way things were before I left” Velaska said
“And if not?” Matt asked
“Well then I’ll just become another citizen of Huntington Beach and just live my life without you in it” Velaska said
“Where do you work?” Brian asked
“Why?” Velaska asked
“So that we can pick you up and bring you out to lunch tomorrow” Johnny said
“I’m an accountant at a record company” Velaska said
“Which one?” Zacky asked
“Yours” Velaska said
“Really?” Jimmy asked
“Yup, that’s how I knew where Matt lived. Mr. Wallus said I could use the info in the computer to find you” Velaska said
“So why are you giving us a week to prove how sorry we are? Can’t you see it now?” Matt asked
“Because you were such an ass to me, even with everything that proved I am your sister. I just want to make sure you truly are sorry. Besides you need to feel the hurt I felt” Velaska said
“I said I was sorry. What else do you want?” Matt asked
“Why would you even think I was dead?” Velaska asked looking straight at Matt
“Because you were in a coma. People stay in comas for years. I just felt like you being in a coma that far away from me was the same as being dead. Charlottee did update me everyday, but nothing changed. And I didn’t mean to change my number, my phone broke. So I got a new one and I thought it was the same number, which it wasn’t” Matt said
“How did your phone break? And how did you find out that the phone number changed?” Velaska asked
“The phone broke during a drunken manor, can’t really remember how” Matt said
“Okay?” Velaska stated
“And for the number change; Brian sent everyone a text, like a fast forward text and I was the only one who didn’t get it” Matt said
“I’m so glad we got you back” Johnny said with a smile
“We don’t have her back yet Short Shit” Zacky said
“All because we treated her like an asshole” Brian said sadly
“I’m sorry okay? I was just so use to the fact that she was ‘dead’ that when I found out she was awake I just couldn’t believe it. I’m sorry! I’m so fuckin sorry!” Matt said getting mad
“Dude she’s in front of us now. That means you didn’t fuck up that badly” Jimmy said
“Besides you have a whole week to prove how sorry you are” Velaska said with a little smile.
