Because I'm Here

Gemma lives on a small farm in Indiana. She's tired of smelling like pigs and cows and always having pieces of straw poking out of her braid every day.

Tomas smells like clean clothes and air freshners. His father is the mayor of the town and his mother was once a Miss Indiana champion.

Both of them want something more, and that's when they find each other. But Tomas is now graduating and preparing to leave for Berkeley, California--a sad 2,300 miles away from their small Indiana town. Before he leaves, Gemma urges him to take her to Lebanon, Kansas, the middle of the United States.
