We Don't Belong Here

Aside From Never

He led me into his bedroom and I took a seat on his bed. He grabbed a notebook and his guitar. He smiled at me and I raised a brow at him.

“What’s that?”

“It’s my lyric notebook. It’s full of songs that I’ve written, “he explained.

“I didn’t know you could write songs.”

“Yeah, and now, I’m going to play one for ya, “he smiled.

“Okay, “I laughed nervously.

“Don’t laugh, okay? I know this is really dorky.” I giggled anyways.

“No, go ahead. I promise I won’t laugh, “I swore. He took a breath and began to strum the guitar. My heart beat went crazy.

When she laughs,
I can barely breath.
And when she’s around me,
She’s the only thing I see.

To me, her beauty is endless
And it makes me wonder
Why she doesn’t see herself
The way I see her.

She doesn’t need to change
Who she is, not for me, and not for anybody.
Her inner-self is all I need to live and I will give up
Anything to have her near me.

Her face has been
Burnt into my brain.
And I have no shame
In saying I love her.

I wiped away a tear that was forming and he smiled nervously.

“So, yeah… I, uh, like, wrote that about you, “he laughed quietly.

“Oh, Bradley, it’s… It’s…”I tried to think of a word. “It’s beautiful.” I was on the verge of tears. He got up and sat next to me.

“Hey, don’t cry! You know I hate it when you cry.”

“But, these aren’t tears of sadness.”

“I know, but they are still tears. I guess I shouldn’t show you the others, “he said quietly. I looked up at him in disbelief.

“How many have you written about me?” I asked him slowly.

“Well, that notebook right there is full of them.”

“Really?”

“Yeah, all 200 pages, front to back.”

“Bradley, you are amazing. I love you so much.” He laughed quietly.

“Thanks, baby. I love you, too.”
