The Prince of Ice

The Oracle

Lord Poseidon’s P.O.V.

“That boy looked familiar.” I heard Ares say as we came into the room with Chiron. Personally I felt the same, but I couldn’t place my finger on it. We all gathered into the oracles room, mind it’s a 3000 year old mummy that could talk so I was unimpressed with its attire. Oracles are notoriously gloomy or dramatic. Understandable they were given a huge burden, the Oracles mark.

The Oracles mark is a mark applied by a soon to die oracle. This passes all the power from there body into another and then that person has that inner sight. It was really fascinating, and the mark depends upon the person. It could consume your entire face or just be a beauty mark the size of a pin prick.

We all walked in threw the dusty old relics (ironic that I should say that isn’t it?). Eye of Newt and hair of Dog that whole voodoo thing, the Oracle was from the islands when she was chosen and she liked to keep to her old ways no matter the time. She was the most powerful of the oracles, touched at mere birth she and she alone was able to see the many different paths of people instead of only one.

The room was musty, and stale air hung everywhere, my thoughts were else ware as we continued down into the depths of the room.

“Just a bit farther, today I believe she is playing Bones.” Chiron stated at the slow clop of his hooves sounded everywhere. Today was a dark day I muttered to myself. Not only is it said that father (Crones) may be rising again, but the one of Oracles said that a great war is about to start. I shuddered at the whole controversy before hand on Olympus with Zeus.

“I AM THE KING OF THE GODS AND I SAY THAT THERE IS NO WAR. AND THERE NEVER WILL BE!” He would bellow above all his thundering whenever the subjects reared its head. Luckily Hera had a way of twisting him around her small fingers, bless the woman.

“I see you have come to see me and grace me with my presence.”

The oracle sat at an old rounded desk at the far back of the room. Her skin was dark and leathery as it sagged off her slim figure. She didn’t turn from her game and spoke as she toosed another set of bones onto the table. Her hair was long and silver, reaching almost all the way down to the floor. I could see her smile; most of her teeth have gone.

“So you’ve taken on this haggard appearance why?” Chiron asked softly.

She smiled even wider as she finally turned to them and stood. Clad in an old gypsies dress torn at ever seem and barely hanging off her body.

“I wish to die as I feel not some voluptuous beauty I could place on.” Instantly she changed into a beautiful young woman. Her hair black yet still long and the dress rejuvenated to a red tight garment.

I couldn’t help but look on, besides from us and the nymphs, Oracles could also change there form as well and quickly. Her eyes were the same though, an off shade of blue. They could look right threw you in a second; he remembered those eyes as well when she was chosen eons ago. She tossed us a look and changed back to what she was. The haggard appearance made he look a good amount shorter so she shuffled by us and to her shelves where she kept most of her concoctions.

“Aqua? The Prophecy you told me yesterday? Do you remember it?”

That made her acknowledge us, she slammed down what she was holding onto a shelf and looked back at us all. I flinched as she cast an iron look at us all and walked right back over.

“Yes and I will tell you when I am good and ready!” she yelled her voice cracking ever so slightly to Chiron. I stifled a laugh, though in her ancient age she still had claws.

Time passed and I was painfully aware of it, it seemed like we were gaining dust as we stood there. I could feel my brother Zeus tense after a while of waiting; he was never that patient sort. The ozone level dropped dangerously as we continued in silence. All that time Aqua walked from her shelves to her desk an ultimatum of 2 times. Placing a mystery concoction onto the table with a bowl and a spoon. She poured in whatever the green and red stuff was and began to stir.

“The other Oracles are in distress no? They see a great battle, but are unsure of what will come to pass.” Her voice was laced with mystery I noted as she continued.

“They are right, a war will begin very soon, Kronos is returning.”

“But how?” Zeus asked irritably. I rolled my eyes, Aqua was not gonna make this easy. Oracles often spoke in riddles when aggravated or hurried so it was gonna be a douse.

She turned to him, her glassy stare matching his stormy one, I didn't like where this was going.

"Darkness decends onto the land. Gods unite under one banner to fight once again.
Allies of old and new take sword.
But not enough.
Topple fall all one by one till no one but immortal stand.

One stands alone on the deciding border, his voice and choice is law.
He will see if the Gods reign or fall
Of young face and old past is he.
Broken childhood, mangled mind.
Wise in battle foolish in ways of the heart.
He stands and others shall fall, he alone is the one you seek to banish the King of Titans to his black tomb once more."

At that she turned away leaving us all to ponder what she had just told us. I felt myself relax ever so slightly, by far that was the most specfic phophecy I have ever heard. As we all turned away to leave Aqua's quaters she turned on us again.

" Be wary how you look upon others for they may be more than what they seem."

Somehow I knew that was directed at me, and as I let the others pass me I turned back at Aqua. She stood there solomn and alone it that room and the notion hit me like a harsh wind. She was a dying oracle, soon to eneter the underworld in a veil of her own misgivings. She needed to find someone to transfer her power to, or the line would halt and never continue ever again.

I smiled at her and bowed as she did out of respect and walked out of the dusty old room to join my brother and all the others.

"Do you think her seroiusly insane, or mad!" Ares mumbled after a few moments of silence. We had entered the meeting room for a bit of debreifing. The whole ordeal with Aqua had unsettled us all not to mention the ongoing battle of footsteps that seemed to be booming from every hallway.

"They haven't caught his yet! My goodness, maybe he is an Athenian after all?"

I smiled, the boy was no Athenian that was for sure but I didn't want to burst my neice's bubble a the thought. For the last few days we all had been watching young Dimitri and how he progressed. He was strong and smart as a whip, his tactics in fighting were sharp and lethal. All the others were clamoring for him to be in there dorm so as to make him a crown jewel.

I sat solomly near my brothers Zeus and Hades as the argument around quickly became an all out war itself around the vast circled table. The room was as the others, platinum white and pillared everywhere, never gets tiring the classics. We all sat facing around us, Zeus I and Hades at the head of the table. I looked about a sense of tension rose from every pore and face around me, I couldn't help to be disshelved a bit by Aquas proposition. It was many millenia ago when we all lead by Zeus to overthrow father, even then it was a huge challange. I shuddered the thought of another war with all the Titans and father could mean the end of the world itself.

"A war ehh. Well I don't need to remind anyone that thats my department of specialty and that it should be left up to me to handel." Ares Bosted as he sat in his seat.

Athena had other plans as she clared at her brother, "Yes and cause another cataclism as you did with all the others we left to you!"

Ares grew a bright red at these words and tossed his sister a look that could kill. But said nothing as all the others began again inthere conversation.

"What will we do Lord Zeus?"

All eyes fell onto Zeus and I stood by to see what he would say. He stood and cleared his throat, I couldn't help but role my eyes, such a dramatic.

"I and Hades will head to the underworld firstly to check on father and the lock on his prison. We mustn't loose our heads over this mere warning. Until then we shant let this get out to anyone. Panic mustn't spread at this rate if anyone knew of this."

All was silent for a moment, then a murmur of agreement rippled threw as a commanding voice could be heard down the corridors outside.

"There coming this way, seal the doors!"

"What in the world!" Chiron sighed as he walked towards the huge double doors. He never got to them, they burst forward and in dropped Esmeralda. She flew across the room with such force and landed on the table that every stray paper and map that had been placed there was thrown in all odds of directions.

“What is the meaning of this!?” Zeus bellowed as he stood, practically shakng the entire building to te foundation. Esmeralda looked up at her father and bowed, but as the dust cleared I found my eyes drifting towards the cloud. There stood the boy, Dimitri I belive his name was. His eyes set on her in a blazing fury, I could see the unbridled storm within them. And then the sudden knowledge it me, the obviousness of this whole thing was stiffling.

I stood there and stared at my own son as he let lose another spasm of power directed straight at Esmeralda, knocking her down to the floor in mere seconds. Water tendrils flowed from behind him and bounded her as she struggled to get her foorting back. She foungh it but it was no use he was puttin his all into this. As they restrined her arms and legs he strolled in with the utmost of cool alofness that left the room almost cold.

“Don't think they're gonna help you, now I honestly thought you were smarter than that!”

With that the water began to harden around her, Esmerelda let out a scream as she squirmed to get out of the deadly cacoon that was slowly freezing her body.

I couldn't fathom on how he was doing this, until I looked at him closely. His rage and anger was controlling him, his power had the reigns which meant this couldn't possibly end well.
