Lust for Blood

The Polyjuice Potion

We were in the library looking for a book, though I wasn’t having much look as Harry stood next to me,
“Any luck?” Ronald asked,
“Nope,” I replied and folded my arms in annoyance, Ronald sat down and leaned back,
“I don’t understand what’s so special about a book…” Ronald sighed,
“Maybe because Hermione spends so much time from here she could be the librarian… but she obviously knows what she’s on about so it won’t take her much longer to find it now,” I spoke as Hermione came around the corner holding a small book.

“Here it is. The Polyjuice Potion. ‘Properly brewed, the Polyjuice Potion allows the drinker to transform himself temporarily into the physical form of another.” Hermione explained,
“You mean if Harry and I drink that stuff, we’ll turn into Crabbe and Goyle?” Ronald asked,
“Yes,” Hermione replied,
“Wicked! Malfoy will tell us anything.” Ronald explained,
“Exactly. But it’s tricky. I’ve never seen a more complicated potion.” Hermione looked at the book,

“How long will it take to make?” Harry asked,
“A month,” I spoke after briefly looking at the book.
“A month?” Harry looked between Hermione and me. “But, Hermione, if Malfoy is the Heir of Slithering he could attack half the Muggle-borns in the school by then.” Harry explained,
“I know. But it’s the only plan we’ve got.” Hermione explained.

As the day went on I spent half of the time working on my homework for Snape’s potion lesson.

As night came… I crept back downstairs to the fire where I sat.

As I sat there I thought about everything that has been going on since I joined Hogwarts.

I had made new friends… my first real friends… and two of them being boys… luckily I never spent more then 5 minutes being alone with them because of Hermione but they had become my friend… well… they believed we were friends.

I was still scared… unsure… I kept quiet most of the time as they spoke.

“I didn’t know you were up,”

I shot around and saw Harry,
“Yea… I can’t sleep,” I spoke, and looked back at the fire, Harry moved around and sat next to me as I stared at the fire, I grabbed my small necklace and sighed,
“I’ve seen you down here a few times now,” Harry spoke,
“I don’t sleep,” I explained, Harry looked at me strangely, “I’ve never slept, in my entire life…” I explained then looked back at the fire.

We both sat there for ages, just in silence, I hated it… he was too close to me.

It was like I could feel his blood… smell it almost.

I closed my eyes and concentrated on the heat of the fire, how I could feel the heat blow onto my skin, warming parts of my skin that were visible to the fire.

I opened my eyes and sighed, I was in control.

I was in complete control.

“What are you doing for Christmas?” Harry asked, I looked at him then frowned in thought,
“I don’t know yet… my parents told me they might be visiting my great-grandparents in Romania… I might be staying here,” I explained, “My mother hopes I make new friends and suggested I spend my Christmas with them,” I added looking back at Harry who had a smile on his face, “What are you going to do?” I asked,
“I’ll be here too, I don’t really want to go home, my aunt and uncle hate me,” Harry explained, I bowed my head down,
“My fathers side of the family hates me and my mother…” I explained,
“Why?” Harry looked at me confused,
“My mother was Muggle-born… and my father is a from an entire family who are all the same,” I explained, Harry nodded and looked back at the fire with me.

“You’ve got a Quidditch match tomorrow right?” I asked, Harry nodded, “You should get to bed then and get some sleep,” I explained,
“Good idea, are you coming up?” Harry stood up,
“I’ll be up soon,” I explained and looked at Harry, he nodded and continued up stairs.

I looked back at the fire and smiled.

Even though I was weird with Harry, Ronald and Hermione they stayed with me.

I sighed and looked at the stars, they were in my favour… for the first time in my life.
