Draco's Mercy.

Musical Notes

"Okay, class. Settle down. And sit." Professor McGonagall said as she walked in. I sat in my set next to a couple of high sopranoes.

I was in Musical Notes, last class of the day. The one I enjoyed most.

The class became instantly silent at her order, everybody stopping their gossip and running to their seats.

"Alright. We will be preforming a musical after break. I will choose who gets what part, because you each will be trying out. You signed up-"McGonagall was cut off as the door opened.

"Sorry I'm late." Damian said, walking in and taking the empty seat next to me.

"As I was saying...You each will sing a song, the girls one song, the boys another. In front of the class and after you all are finished, I will tell you who got what roles. Any questions?" She raised an eyebrow and looked around the room.

"What will we be proforming after break?" A girl, 3rd year called out.

"I'll tell you after you sing, so no one can purposely suck. Any other questions?"

"What songs will we be singing?" Granger asked.

"Girls will sing Temporary Home by Carrie Underwood. And guys will sing Ladies love country boys by Trace Adkins." She looked around. "No more? Okay, Pair up." She clapped her hands and Granger ran to me.

"Partners?" She asked.

"Sure. Why not." I shrugged and we grabbed a peice of music to share.

"Split the song into parts. You will sing some, your partner the rest. Don't split it in half, take turns singing." McGonagall said.

"Okay. I'll sing...First verse, second chorus, and we can split the first chorus. and the last chorus. You get the rest." Granger said.

"Kay." I yawned and hummed the song to myself.

"Class. Attention. I want you to sit and get ready to sing." Everyone dipped to their seats, and she started calling names. "I want....Ron and Damian up first."

They stood and turned so they were facing the class.

"Ready?" McGonagall asked.

They nodded and looked at us all.

*start music*

RON : Yeah, she grew up in the city in a little subdivision
Her daddy wore a tie, mama never fried a chicken
Ballet, straight A's, most likely to succeed

DAMIAN : They bought her a car after graduation
Sent her down South for some higher education
Put her on the fast track to a law degree

RON : Now she's coming home to visit, holding the hand
Of a wild-eyed boy with a farmer's tan

DAMIAN (here he looks at me): And she's riding in the middle of his pickup truck
Blaring Charlie Daniels, yelling, ?Turn it up?
They raised her up a lady but there's one thing they couldn't avoid
Ladies love country boys, you know it's true

DAMIAN : Yeah, you know mama's and daddy's want better for their daughters
Hope they'll settle down with a doctor or a lawyer
And their uptown, ball gown, hand me down royalty
They never understand why their princess falls
For some camouflage britches and a southern boy drawl

RON : Or why she's riding in the middle of a pickup truck
Blaring Hank Jr., yelling, ?Turn it up?
They raised her up a lady but there's one thing they couldn't avoid
Ladies love country boys, oh, get country with it now

BOTH : You can train 'em, you can try to teach 'em right from wrong
But it's still gonna turn 'em on

RON : And they go riding in the middle of a pickup truck
Blaring Lynyrd Skynyrd, yelling, ?Turn it up!?
You can raise her up a lady but there's one thing you just can't avoid
Ladies love country boys, they love us country boys, yeah

DAMIAN : Yeah, they can't stand it
They said, country thing you know
Yeah

RON : (Na na na na na, na na na na na)

DAMIAN : Sing it na, na
Oh, that's pretty ladies

RON : (Na na na na na, na na na na na)

*end song*

The class clapped loudly and I smiled. I loved their voices. Must say I was impressed.

"Very good, boys."McGonagall clapped and they went to their seats. "Mercy, Granger. Your turn."

We stood and looked at the class.

*Music starts*

HERMIONIE : Little boy, 6 years old
A little too used to bein' alone
Another new mom and dad, another school
Another house that'll never be home
When people ask him how he likes this place
He looks up and says with a smile upon his face

ME : "This is my temporary home
It's not where I belong
Windows and rooms that I'm passin' through
HERMIONIE : This is just a stop, on the way to where I'm going
I'm not afraid because I know this is my
Temporary Home."

ME : Young mom on her own
She needs a little help got nowhere to go
She's lookin' for a job, lookin' for a way out
'Cause a half-way house will never be a home
At night she whispers to her baby girl
Someday we'll find a place here in this world

HERMIONIE : "This is our temporary home
It's not where we belong
Windows and rooms that we're passin' through
This is just a stop, on the way to where we're going
I'm not afraid because I know this is our
Temporary Home."

ME : Old man, hospital bed
The room is filled with people he loves
And he whispers don't cry for me
I'll see you all someday
He looks up and says "I can see God's face."

ME : "This is my temporary Home
It's not where I belong
Windows and rooms that I'm passin' through
This was just a stop, on the way to where I'm going
I'm not afraid because I know this was
My temporary home."

BOTH : This is our temporary home

*END SONG*

Everyone was clapping loudly and a few even whistled. I smiled and raised an eyebrow. I didn't know we were that good. I looked over to Granger and she was blushing and smiling widely. I shook my head and went to my seat.

When we were seated, McGonagall went through everyone. After everyone was finished, she stood in front of the class. Her hands were clasped together in front of her, a small smile on her face.

"I have the results. I would like to inform you all of what the musical will be now." She smiled widely. "The Phantom of the Opera."

A few people "yay"ed and some others "ohh"ed. I smiled a little. I loved this musical/opera.

"Now, the roles. Playing the Phantom is...." She looked around and rested on Damian.

"Damian." There was aplause,

"And playing Raoul...Ron." More applause.

"Meg, the second main girl. Is Hermionie." Aplause.

"Christine is Mercy." I smiled widely as there was aplause a little louder than the rest. I giggled, I was so happy.

She named the rest of the roles and I zoned out. This means I have to learn my role over the break. And I would have to sing. In front of people. I loved the attention I got sometimes. But not when I sing. At least it was something I loved to do, and watch.

Then it hit me. I would have to be 'in love' with Damian.

Oh lord help. I looked over at him and he was about to get up from his seat. McGonagall called us over to grab our scripts.

"Study it over break. We have 2 weeks when we get back to perfect it. Then we have a small teaser for everyone to see...then the big show the next day." She smiled at us. "Damian, Ron, Hermionie, and Mercy. Please stay after."

The bell rang for the end of the day.

"When break ends and you all come back, I want you 4 to always be together. Learning your parts. Your teachers have been informed that you won't be attending class, so that you can all learn your parts together. Understood?" She looked at us all.

"Yes, Professor." We said.

Sorry. I really want to do a musical. And it has a twist. It ties in with the plot. :-)
