RAY: Mare, this is Danielle. Dani, this is my daughter, Marilyn.

Marilyn crosses stage right.

MARILYN, voice full of warmth, her accent sugar coated and thick as honey.: It's very nice to meet you, Miss Danielle.

DANIELLE: You too, my dear! I've heard so much about you!

They shake hands. Company exits upstage left.

Scene Two

MARILYN: I do apologize, but may I be excused? I have to finish typing up a report for tomorrow. She smiles.

RAY: Sure, I'll call you when dessert's ready, okay?

MARILYN: Yes, sir. Thank you. Exits stage right.

MARILYN smirks to herself as she remembers her previous schools. The drama teachers welcomed her with open arms; she was a natural actress. Always, she was the lead role. Always, she was rewarded with a bouquet of flowers from Ray and audience members after opening night.
