Don't Lose Hope

Break My Fall

The One That Got Away

Vincent couldn’t help but stay quiet at the coffee shop after that. He made plans to meet Bradd at McDonalds the day before, some girls wanted a Sweet Tea, and they were in charge of getting them. His parents and grandparents left him after he gave them all a hug. He sat at the table for about ten minutes, then got up to leave.

When he went out the door, he bumped into somebody, quite hard too. He quickly grabbed the girl’s arm, trying to prevent her from falling on the ground. He held firm as she got her balance back. “I’m sorry-” She started.

She stopped short when she saw Vincent, “Thank you, sir.” She said, quite humble.

Vincent wanted to stare again, but he stopped himself, “No, I’m sorry, I should have watched where I was going.”

The girl swallowed, then smiled, “Well, sure, you’re forgiven. But I must ask… was it you that I saw yesterday?”

Vincent’s eyes widen in surprise, “Um, maybe?”

She chuckled some, “Well, I mean, it’s hard to forget a car like that around here.” She pointed at Vincent’s red Charger, parked by some old VW.

Vincent couldn’t help but smile, “Jealous?”

“Hardly.” She said, waving her hand, “What am I doing? Speaking to a stranger like some old friend.”

“Sina!” A woman called from a distance, “It’s time for us to leave. We’ll be late if we don’t hurry.”

“Yes, Mother.” the girl called back.

So Sina is her name… Vincent made a mental note, he wasn’t going to forget. The girl turned back at Vincent, “She can be pushy sometimes.”

“So your name is Sina, huh?” Vincent said, then stuck out a hand, “Name’s Vincent Martinez, nice to… finally meet you.”

The girl laughed, then her small hand grabbed his, “Yes, and I’m Sina Williams. The pleasure is all mine.”

“Sina!” Her mother called once again.

“And now I have to take my leave.” Sina said, then started to walk off, “Oh, and if you ever pass by the house again, don’t be shy and talk to me, okay?”

She smiled again and walked over to her mother. They walked down the parking spaces and got into a SUV. Vincent grinned to himself and walked over to his car. When he got in, he answered his phone it was Bradd.

“Yeah, dude, I’m on my way.” Then Vincent paused for a second, then added, “I want to tell you something. I met somebody, and I was wondering if you knew her.”

Vincent drove off toward McDonald’s, meeting Bradd. They talked for a bit, grabbed the Sweet Tea, then went to Brownie’s house, where everyone was to meet for the Sunday night football game. It was the New England Patriots versus Philadelphia Eagles.

The Patriots was his favorite team too, so he was excited.
