Shouting Under My Breath.

“So what’s your plan for today?” Alice asked sitting at the kitchen table as Sparrow made herself some French toast. “I’m not really sure what I’m doing this morning with Nate, but I know I’m going to watch a movie tonight with Dan.” She said flipping her French toast over.

“So you never told me how the Dan and Nate meeting went.”

“It was super awkward.”

“That’s it, it was just super awkward?”

“What did Nate think about meeting you ex boyfriend?” Alice asked walking over and pouring herself a cup of coffee. “He really doesn’t want me hang out with Dan.” She said pouring herself a cup of coffee. “So should I assume that you’re not going to tell Nate that you are hanging out with Dan?”

“I hate lying, but I want to hang out with Dan.”

“I understand why you want to hang out with Dan, it makes sense.”

“At least you understand.” She said as she heard a knocking at the door. She rolled her eyes already knowing it was Nate. It’s not that she didn’t want him over it was just that she was annoyed with him for some reason. She really couldn’t think of a reason, it was mostly because she was mad he didn’t trust her, when in all honesty he really shouldn’t trust her.

“Hi doll face.” Nate said when Sparrow opened the door.

“Hi.”

“So what’s the plan for today?”
“Well it’s my sister birthday today so there having a pretty bug party in my parents backyard.” Nate said before kissing her on the cheek.

“So I should get dress and get ready to go to you parent’s house?”

“Yes you should.”

“Ok, give me a few minutes to get ready, there’s coffee made in the kitchen if you want some.”

“Ok thanks.” He said walking towards the kitchen as Sparrow head towards her bedroom.

She grabbed a tank top from her closet and a pair of shorts from her dresser and got dressed as quickly as possible. She through her cream cardigan on and laced up her black boots and head into the kitchen where Nate was talking to Alice.

“You look beautiful Sparrow.” Nate said as soon as he saw her.

“Thank you.”

“Let’s get going.” The two of them walked outside to Nate’s car.
The started driving and Nate turned on the stereo lightly. Sparrow hummed along to the radio trapped in her own thoughts and Nate tried to figure out what she was thinking about.

“How is Hayley now?” Sparrow asked breaking the silence that was starting to become awkward.

“Today’s her eighteenth birthday.”

“Wow that’s cool. It seems like just yesterday I was eighteen. Now I’m twenty-one and going to be twenty-two soon.”

“Nate do you have any regrets?”

“Yeah I do, who doesn’t?” He said looking at her for a moment.

“I guess everyone has some type of regret.” Her regret being that she didn’t try harder to stay with Dan. Another one of her regrets was leaving England. She had a list of regrets that involved Dan.

“What do you regret?” He asked almost scared to hear what she was going to say.
“Not traveling more.” It wasn’t really a lie. It was a regret she had; it just wasn’t one of her main regrets. “You know maybe I could take some time off this summer and you and I could on a trip.”

“That sounds fun.” She said lacing her fingers with his.

“I love you Sparrow.”

“I love you too Nate.” She said as they parked in front of his parent’s house.
They walked inside the house full of teenagers and Nate’s family. “You sure have a lot of family.” She whispered into his ear.

“Yeah I know.” He said laugh lightly.

“Let’s go find the birthday girl.” He said leading them into the backyard.

They walked through the crowded backyard to find her sitting at a table with a bunch of guys and girls. “Nate!” Hayley shouted jumping up and running over to her brother.

“Happy birthday Hayley.” He said releasing Sparrow’s hand and pulling Hayley into a hug.

“You know just because you don’t live at home doesn’t mean you have to stay away.” She said laughing.

“Yeah I know and I’m sorry.”

“Hi Sparrow.” Hayley said hugging her.

“Sorry I’ve been stealing him from you.” Sparrow said.

“It’s only acceptable, because you’re stealing him.” She laughed.

“Ok. I’ll try to get him to come over more often.”

“Please do.” She said smiling.

“You to talk I’m going to go find mom and dad.” Nate said head inside.

“So what have you been up to Sparrow?” Hayley asked as they walked over to a table to sit down.

“I just finished this year of school, so I’ve been sleeping in a lot and enjoying summer.”

“We should go shopping one day.”

“We should.”

“Are you and Nate going to come to my graduation?” Hayley asked giving her a hopeful smile.

“Yeah of course when is it?”

“It’s in a week.”

“We’ll be there.”

“Thank you so much.” Hayley said hugging her.

“You know I really wish you and Nate would just get married already, so you can be my sister.” She felt a rush a guilt come over her as Hayley brought up her marrying Nate.

“I would love to be your sister.”

“What are my two favorite girls talking about?” Nate said walking over to the table. “Just about how you better not miss my graduation.” Hayley said standing up and giving them a smile.

“I wouldn’t miss it for the world.”

“That good because if you do I’ll never forgive you.”

“I don’t want to piss you off because I know you can hold a grudge.” He said laughing as she hit him in the arm.

Sparrow and Nate walked around his parent’s house talking to everyone and enjoying themselves. The party ended about eight so Nate took Sparrow home and he went over to his friend’s house.

The second she got in the door she texted Dan and let him know she was home so he could come over.

“How was Hayley’s party?” Alice asked walking into the living all dressed up.

“It was a lot of fun. I really missed that girl. Can I ask where you’re going?”

“Oh I’m going out with Travis tonight so I’m probably not going to becoming home tonight.” She said raising her eyebrows suggestively.

“Sounds like fun.”

“Op there he is.” She said looking down at her phone.

“See you tomorrow.” Said walking into the kitchen. Sparrow poured herself of ice tea and walked off into her bedroom to wait for Dan to get to her house. She scrolled through the internet passing the time waiting for Dan to get.

She got excited when she heard a knock at the door letting her know Dan was here.

“Hi love.” He said when she opened the front door with a smile on her face.

“Hi.” She said grabbing his hand and pulling him inside.

“So what do you want to watch?” She asked leading them towards the couch.

“I don’t care it love.” He said sitting down.

“Why don’t we watch ‘Lords Of Dogtown’?” She asked holding up the DVD.

“Sound like fun.” He said giving her a smile before she put the DVD in.

The movie played less then thirty minutes before Dan reach over and pulled Sparrow onto his lap. They had there lips all over each others necks. Dan had his hands under Sparrow’s shirt as he kissed her. Dan managed to maneuvers them so that Sparrow was lying down on the couch and Dan was hovering over her. She had her hands in his bleach blond hair as he kissed her jaw. She couldn’t help but moan as he kissed her.

A million thoughts were going through her mind as she got her shirt off. She couldn’t help but feel horribly guilty, but at the same time she had no desire to stop Dan because she loved him to.

“We’re going to fall off the couch if we continue you like this.” Dan said noticing that Sparrow was acting strange.

“Let’s go to my bed then.” She said letting him know she wanted to continue against her better judgment.

Dan wasted no time standing up and pick up Sparrow to carry her to her room. The second they got to her room Dan gently tossed her onto her bed and un button his pants and go them off as fast as possible. While he did that Sparrow took the opportunity to get her own shorts off, leaving her in her bra and underwear.

“God I love you.” He said as he crawled over the top of her.

“I love you too.” She said as she attached her lips. With every kiss she felt even guiltier, but she just couldn’t bring herself to stop.
