You Say It's Your Birthday?

In the course of the next few months, Nicole and I became excellent friends. We went through a lot of things together, like Christmas, New Years, Spring Break and finally, it was my birthday. It was April 9th, 1960 and I was turning 14. I couldn't believe it, finally. Syd, Roger, Nicole and I were all going to just chill at my house, since my parents left to go get me a surprise. I had no idea what it was and I was so anxious to know.

We were all up in my room, smoking a joint and talking about how good of a night this would be. Syd was talking about how he had obtained some shrooms and we'd all be going to camp out in Nicole's backyard (hers was the largest; a field for cows and such) and we'd be tripping balls.

Finally, my parents got home and called us all downstairs. After a nice meal of homemade pizza and a nice birthday cake, my mom surprised me with a enveloppe. I opened it and found a birthday card. Inside were two tickets to Canada. I was shocked.

"This summer, I want you and Nicole to head up to Canada for a week. I know how much you miss it there and how it would be an exciting experience for the both of you." My mother explained, smiling at my father.

I hugged both my parents and thanked them a million and one times. Nicole also hugged them and thanked them, seeing as they were basically her surrogate parents. She was here like 3/4 of the time.

Finally, we decided to head out to Nicole's field and pitch the huge tent we'd all be staying in. My parents were okay with me spending the night there, although they had no clue the guys would be with us. My father wasn't really the trusting kind of person.

After a few exhausting minutes, the tent was up and we were all settled in. Joints were passed, conversations started and then Syd pulled out the bag of psilocybin mushrooms. I was somewhat nervous, but also very happy.

I found permanent friends and I knew they'd be there for me all my life.
