Forever Hold My Heart

“What do you mean it’s in me. How is that even possible?” I asked
“I don’t know but we need to get it out.” He said getting up. “By the way I’m Evan.”
“That’s nice and all but I’m about to freak out,” I said
“Come on, your team will catch up to us they’re with Andrew scouting the area.” Evan said picking up the Latronum and throwing her over his shoulder.
I followed him, I was concerned where exactly was this chip at. I really do hope that it wasn’t in a place where they couldn’t remove it.
“What’s going to happen to Daphne?” I asked
“She wasn’t in the book so they’re probably going to interrogate her.” He said
“Okay,” I said as Evan was driving.
“We’re almost there,” Evan said as he sped down the streets.

Once we arrived the first thing we did was put Daphne in a interrogation room.
“Now you,” Evan said taking me to a room.
“Hello Katelyn,” A man said holding some device. “Now I need you to lay down.”
I did as I was told, he began to scan me with the device. The device started to beep on my elbow but stopped.
He moved it down and it beeped again.
“Pass me that wire,” The man told Even and before I knew it he tightly tied it around my upper arm. “Pass me a scalpel”
“Wait aren’t you going to numb me first.” I said
“There’s no time the chip is moving,” He said I looked away as he used the device to find the chip and then I felt him cut an incision down my arm. I tried not to look and when I did all the color left my face. I quickly looked away. I tried not to think of the pain. “Hand me the retractors.”
I watched as he used the retractors to hold apart my skin, I could see the inside of my arm as blood oozed out slowly. I could barely make out some veins and possible some muscles. I bit my lip, and I heard the door opened and walked in another dude with a needle followed by Marcus.
“You’re going to feel a slight pinch,” The man with the needle said. I just gave him a look, what difference was a slight pinch going to make when half my arm was cut open.
“Pass me the forceps,” the man doing surgery on my arm said, I was going to look back at my arm but Marcus called for my attention
“Katelyn, I don’t think you should be watching this.” Marcus said
“Why?” I said
“They don’t want you to pass out because then you’ll start healing and that would be bad.” Marcus said
“Is Travis okay?” I said
“Don’t worry about him he’ll be fine,” Marcus said and I sighed and I squeezed my eyes shut when I felt the forceps diggin in my arm.
“We got it.” He said.
“You’re doing good,” Marcus told me. “Is she good enough to go talk to Prisoner A7853?”
“She will be after we finish closing this up.” He said
“When will Daphne wake up?” I asked
“She’s already awake,” Evan said
“She woke up way earlier than we expected, so don’t underestimate her.” Marcus said looking at me.
“All is done, but before you go take this pill. Chew it and swallow, it should help with the blood loss.” The surgeon said and I nodded.
“You ready?” Marcus asked
“Yes.” I said and I followed him out
“Devin just told me that she is not saying anything except for a laugh here and there. She did ask to speak with you though.” Marcus said
“So what exactly am I trying to get out of her?” I asked
“At this point anything could make a difference.” Marcus said as we stopped at the door. “We’ll be able to hear and see everything so if for some reason she gets loose-”
I just gave him a look.
“Nevermind just do you, but be careful” Marcus said typing in a password and several locks became undone. I walked in and Daphne looked up and smiled.
I walked forward and took a seat on the opposite side of the table.
“Hello Katie,” She said and I leaned back in my chair.
“Cut the crap Daphne,” I said
“It’s too bad that we can’t just catch up,” She said
“I thought you moved to Boston,” I said
“Ah so that’s the rumor of how I left. I was afraid that people were going to think I was kidnapped or something crazy like that.” She said and I just sat there. “You know what I think is such a shame.”
“What?” I asked
“That your mother let you get away.” she said
“What are you talking about.” I asked
“I think you would have been a really great addition, but nope your mother let them take you. I hate to break it to you because I know how sensitive you can be when it comes to your parents, but your mom was on our side of the team. You joined the wrong team Katie.” She said and I slammed my fist on the table.
“Don’t call me Katie,” I said
“You know it’s never too late,” She said
“It is too late because I could never be like you,” I said
“Is that so? It doesn’t matter what you think,” she laughed, “They’re coming for you Katelyn.”
I looked down at my arm.
“It doesn’t matter if you took that stupid chip out of your arm, because in the end no matter how hard you try you’ll always end up coming to us.” She said, “Especially if they get, what is his name?” she paused, “Oh yeah Gavin, the Royal.”
I stared hard at her.
“You guys think you are so smart but we know more than you could ever imagine. He was supposed to be on our side as well but then you came along like always.”
I was so mad that I kicked the table over and walked over to her. I grabbed the collar of her shirt with my good arm.
“What do they want with me?” I asked
“Honestly I think dead but I’m not sure if that’ll happen. Currently they are deciding some uses for you but the reason why is not something that I’m allowed to tell you.”
“I don’t care if you’re allowed to or not, tell me or I’ll make you.” I said
“Hey Katelyn would you ever kill a royal?” She asked
“Never,” I said
“Swear it on your life,” She said
“I swear,” I said
“And what about a Custos? Swear on your life too?” She said
“I swear,” I said and she started laughing and I started to walk away but turned back only to kick her on the side of her face. She stopped laughing and spit out some blood.
“Hey come here I want to show you something,” She said with a grin. I walked over and watched her carefully.
“Look at my wrist Katelyn,” She said and she was a guardian. “I’m a Custos just like you and you just swore to never kill another Cusots.”
I started walking away.
“What’s the matter katelyn, does it bother you that I’m just like your father.” She laughed and I felt my eye twitch. I faced the door as I said my last words.
“You will never be a Custos you’re just another Latronum so it doesn’t count.” I said as I pulled out my gun and turned around. “Say hi to my dad for me.”
I shot her twice in the head and her head slumped forward.
