Forever Hold My Heart

So this means what again?

When I started gaining consciousness I could hear someone screaming.
"Make it stop," I heard Marcus say
"I've been trying to but this is the hundredth time she's done this already," I head Devin say. That was when I realized I was the one screaming and someone's hand was on my mouth. I opened my eyes and sat up. I stopped screaming but I was gasping for breath. I felt like I was going to throw up I spotted a trash can. I got off the bed I was on but immediately fell, but with the strength I had left I ran to the trash can and threw up. When I was done it was so loud in the room everyone was so loud, I just wanted to cry and I found myself drift off again.

I found myself waking up again, I was extremely thirsty. I opened my eyes and the lights were dimmed. I tried to sit up but I was too weak to get up.
"Take it easy there," I saw a guy sitting next to my bed he looked to be in his mid 20's. He had golden brown hair that was about an inch long. He had light blue eyes and just like Mathew he had a scar on his neck. He got up and came back with a glass of water he put some powder in it. He helped me into a sit up position and gave me the glass. My hand was shaking so much that he grabbed it and put it to my lips. I drank almost all of it without question, I felt so disoriented. "You've been out for 4 days now."
I nodded my head. I looked around the room there were two other beds. I knew this was some type of medical care room because of the equipment in them room.
"When," I started but my voice came out raspy so I had to clear my throat. "When do I start training again."
He laughed and shook his head.
"We'll talk about that when you can actually walk," he smiled and I just nodded my head again.
"What's your name?" I asked him
"Oh sorry, I'm Travis," he said, "By the way do you know anyone named Nathaniel."
"Nope," I said
"Okay," he said looking out of it. Then Mathew walked in.
"Katelyn it's nice to see you awake," he said standing at the foot of my bed. I smiled back at him too lazy to talk. Then him and Travis stared at each other without saying a word. I looked down at my wrist I still had a gauze on it. I took it off because it was irritating me. I was looking at the mark on my arm, it did look like a scar. It made me want to put a treatment on it so it could go away. I began to stretch I needed to get up and walk around or something. I didn't want to be cooped up here all day. I started to feel better by the second. I got up off the bed and just began to stretch. I felt bruised in some areas, almost as if I was beat up in my sleep.
I looked and I was still wearing the same clothes, gross. I looked at Mathew and Travis, They were still looking at each other why don't they just kiss already, I smiled at my joke and they broke eye contact to look at me.
"Can I go shower or something," I said and Mathew, nodded. Travis got up and motioned for me to follow him. We walked into my room and my suitcases were neatly organized under my bed.
"Today you're going to take a few exams," he said and I just nodded.
"What time is it?" I asked
"It's 10 in the morning," he said I was grabbing my clothes and stopped when I had to reach for my undergarments. Travis was hovering above me watching everything that I was grabbing.
"Do you mind?" I said nicely and he snapped out of it and looked away.
"Sorry," he said. I also grabbed a towel and my travel shower kit.
"Okay," I said and we walked over to the shower rooms. The shower room was right next to the locker room, I wasn't expecting them to make me take a shower in the same shower as the guys but to my dismay they were. When we walked in no one was in there.
"I'll wait for you outside." He said and he just left me standing there in my own discomfort. I quickly went in and turned on a corner shower. I put the water on hot to try create steam but it wasn't working like I wanted it to. I immediately took my clothes off and started taking the fastest shower of my life. As I was taking my shower I saw all the bruises I had from my arm to the side of my ribcage. It was disturbing because I know I don't bruise easily. When I was done I turned off the shower and wrapped myself in my towel. I put on my underwear and bra, I slipped on my shorts and my shirt. I bend over to towel dry my hair when a couple guys walked in.
"I told you we should have showered before we ate," One of them said while punching another guy. The one that spoke had brown hair that was beginning to grow out of its shaven style and brown eyes. The guy he punched was the guy from field #7 he smiled at me and I returned the smile as I slipped on my shoes . I got my stuff and started to walk away.
"See you around," I heard him say and I waved. When I walked out Travis wasn't outside. I walked back to 'my' room and there were two guys in there they were falling asleep so I tried to be as quiet as possible when brushing my hair.
"You must be Katelyn," one of them said and I jumped backed startled to see he was already sitting on my bed.
"Yeah," I said pulling out my travel mirror, and continued brushing my hair.
"I'm Julian," he said reaching out his hand and I shook it. Julian wasn't as strong looking compared to most of the other guys, but the way he would stare with those brown eyes made up for it. I began to feel light headed again, I furrowed my eyebrows.
"Julian don't even start," The other guy said I couldn't really see him because he was under a sheet. Julian let go of my hand and smiled.
"So how are you liking it here, I heard you gave Devin a challenge," he said and I gave him a confused look.
"What are you talking about?" I asked I remember snapping at Marcus but maybe rumors mixed everything up completely.
"You don't remember, Damien said he saw you and Devin fighting. Damien thought Devin was going to kick your ass but you put a good fight before Devin finally took you down." he said and I thought of my bruises.
"When did this happen?" I asked.
"The same day you got here," he said. I pinned my bangs and put my hair it into a ponytail.
"Is Devin alright?" I asked
"Of course he is, the question should be are you alright." He laughed and I saw Travis walk in with a black messenger bag.
"Hello Julian," he said nicely but his look said otherwise.
"Hey," He said and he got up and went back to his bed.
"See you around," I told Julian as I stood up but he didn't answer me.
"Here I went out and bought you this," he said handing me the bag, "It has school supplies that you'll need."
I took the bag from him when I opened it I noticed it was a laptop carrier with notebooks and a case of pencils in it.
"Oh thanks you bought me a bag," I said trying to show that I was content, even though it's not exactly what I would have purchased.
"Yeah let's hurry Madeline's waiting for you," he said
"Madeline?" I asked
"Yeah she teaches a class here, she's the one who's going to see where you're at academically and place you in the classes you need," he said
"More school," I groaned and I just followed him. When we got there the class room was empty and she gave me directions and all that stuff. The test wasn't time but she said I had to answer all the questions no matter what. When I started it was really quiet, Travis had left and it was just me and her. The test started off easy, with things I learned in school to just common sense things. I even laughed at some of the problems, then the room got noisy there were people in the room she told them to be quiet but then she let them talk freely. I wanted to tell everyone to shut up but Madeline didn't seem to care if anything she encouraged them to talk louder. This had to be part of the test no teacher does this on purpose. I was clenching my pencil so hard it snapped. I reached into my bag and got another one when I heard a scream. My head shot up but no one else seemed to hear it. Was my head playing games with me?
"Help me!" I heard the girl scream it was as if she was in the hallway. I followed my instinct and left the room I started running. I was sprinting full speed, I was running in the direction from where it was coming from. Just as I was getting closer it got farther, I ran out the double doors and into one of the fields I didn't even bother to look which one. I passed by a group and I heard someone calling my name but he was not of importance to me right now. There was a fence and I jumped over it, I was now in the forest. I listened and I could hear the girl her screams were muffled and I ran towards her. I still couldn't see her and when I did a man was dragging her. I ran up to him and tackled him, I started punching him but he pushed me off. He pinned me down but I managed to kick him off. I immediately got on my feet. He had a sword, he swung I moved back but he got my arm.
"Come get me Custos," the man said glancing at my wrist. I was defenseless, I looked at the girl who was now crawling away I saw blood on her dress. She needed help, I was scared but I knew I couldn't just give up this was life or death.
"What do you want with her," I asked, I was trying to stall. If I could stall enough then I knew someone else would show up.
"What I do is my business and what you do is yours." he said
"Why don't you fight me like a man, good old fashion way," I said putting my fists up
"You don't think I'm that stupid," he said he was about to come at me but I saw two arrows hit him in the chest, he stumbled back. I kicked him and he fell flat on his back. I ran over to the girl she had been stabbed in the stomach.
"Oh my god," I said trying to stop the blood from coming out.
"I'm not going to make it," she whispered.
"Don't say that, look at me," I said applying pressure to her wound, "You're going to make it okay, it's not even that bad."
I lied, and I was waiting for my help to come but no one was coming.
"If I die my Custos' dies too," she said. I froze I wouldn't let that happen, I tore off her sleeve and bundled it to her wound.
"No matter what happens don't fall asleep, we just have to make it back." I said picking her up and she winced. I started running back, I swore I didn't even run that far but it must have been a lot because I still haven't hit the camp walls. I started running faster, when I saw Devin and Marcus. Marcus was the one with the bow n' arrows. Devin took the girl from my arms and he ran away with her.
"Thank you," I said out of breath and sat on the floor.
"For what?" he asked eyeing me with a concerned look
"Saving me," I said I started to shake I notice all the blood I had over me. Did I just really fight a man with a sword? Everything that happened began to sink in. I looked up and I saw Marcus aiming, I looked and I couldn't see what he was trying to shoot. He pulled his arm back and he let go. He kept looking out in the distance. He smirked and then his smirk faded when he looked at me.
"You're bleeding," he said and he kneeled down next to me.
"I'm having trouble breathing," I gasped he took a look at my arm.
"It's not that deep" he said and he smelled my arm. "There's no poison."
He looked me straight in the eyes, I think I was about to have an attack.
"Katie, focus on me don't think about it," he said snapping his fingers. "Everything is fine, you did amazing. Let's go get you cleaned up."
I stood up but I couldn't stop shaking. We started walking back.
"Do you think you can jog back, we have quite a distance," he said
"I can try," I said and we started jogging back. I don't know how I ran so fast or how I even heard the girl screams, but they said they would help me understand these abilities. Hey, maybe one day I would be able to shoot an arrow like Marcus. When we reached the wall I realized just how high the wall was I saw Marcus jump over it and disappeared to the other side.
"Okay you can do this," I said quietly to myself. I began trying to jump over it but it was like practice all over again. Then I saw Marcus drop down and he was smiling a goofy grin.
"You can't jump over this can you," he said, and I slumped my shoulders.
"I did it earlier," I said
"Well maybe next time," he said and grabbed me by the arm and threw my over the wall. I held back a scream. I was going to fall face firs but Marcus caught me and put me down.
"Don't ever do that again," I said bending over catching my breath. "
"Come on let's clean up that wound," he said and we started walking across the field.
"Hey I have a question," I said walking next to him.
"Don't you always," he chuckled.
"I have my rights," I said pulling my shirt collar and letting it go.
"Don't do that again," He laughed.
"Anyways.... How come no one else reacted to the girls screams," I asked
"Well first off her name is Leah," he said and then he scratched the back of his head. "Honestly I don't know why you did. But that might just be your specialty."
"Specialty," I asked
"Yeah everyone has one thing in which they supersede." he said and he shrugged.
"Let me guess your talent is in archery?" I asked
"Yeah, it just comes so natural," he said holding out his bow, "It's like my 3rd arm."
"Wow don't get to excited," I joked as we walked through the doors. "I like you better when you're not training me."
I looked up at him with a smug smile and he laughed.
"Yeah I can get carried away, plus I was only trying to get your adrenaline pumping," he said as we entered the hallway.
"Speaking of getting carried away, how come I don't remember getting in a fight with Devin." I said.
"Darling you are asking the wrong person." he said shaking his head.
"Then where can I get all these answer from. You are no help," I said jokingly.
We walked into the medical care room and I sat down on one of the beds.
"Alright let's get you cleaned up," he said taking out some cotton and a bottle of hydrogen peroxide.
"You've done this before right," I gave a nervous chuckle
"Sure," he said sarcastically.
"Wait you expect me to trust my bleeding arm to you?" I asked leaning away from him.
"You don't trust me?" he pressed.
"I do, but if it involves pain I rather do it myself," I said taking the bottle from his hands. I opened the bottle. "Hand me that rag."
He hesitated but he passed it to me anyways. I directly poured it to my wound I clenched my teeth and wiped it down with the rag. He handed me a gauze and I started to wrap it.
"You know I would have tried to make it less painful." he said
"I prefer pain to be quick," I said and he raised his eyebrow, "even if it is more intense."
"You are seriously insane," he said lightly tapping two fingers to my temple. Then Mathew walked in.
"Good job today guys," Mathew said and we nodded in response. "You are quite an interesting addition Katelyn. Well you kid need to get dressed, Leah's father Jonathon wants to meet the Custos in charge of saving his daughters life."
My face lit up, I was finally going to meet some Royals.
