Double Trouble

Immaturity and ADHD at it's finest

“ALINA WAKE UP! I’VE GOT IT!” I yelled as I ran right into her room and jumped onto her bed, landing right next to her, making sure I avoided her injury.

“What have you got? And why did you wake me up? It’s an off day!” She whined. I just grinned and poked her arm.

“Come on! You have to help me with this! I figured out WWSABD!” I said to her, beginning to talk even faster with excitement.

“Alright. I’m up. Now, what would Sharpie and Burish do?” She asked me, sitting up.

“Well, it involves some whipped cream, honey, strawberries, some form of liquid chocolate,” I said, “and two very heavy sleepers.” I finished with a sinister smile.

“Mattie and Mike aren’t here,” she yawned. I pouted.

“I know that. We need to find two players that are heavy sleepers.”

“You have a team full of hockey players. Choose one of them.” Alina replied.

“But I want to mess with other people. We should mess with Seguin.”

“No, don’t mess with other teams.” Lina said, but I didn’t even pay any attention to her.

“And I can mess with their equipment, make it all sticky, and change the weight of their stick..”I trailed off in thought.

“Don’t sabotage the other team!” she exclaimed, but I was too into my thoughts to notice.

“But what about the strawberries.... oh well, we can eat them. We’ll have whipped cream and chocolate for them.” I smiled. “Ok. It works.”

“You just talked to yourself.” Lina said. I looked up at her.

“Oh yeah... I did. It happens sometimes. I think I’m going crazy.”

“Nah, you’re just you. It’s part of your Avery charm. Now how do you plan on executing this plan?”

“I didn’t think that far...”

“Well then, I think that you should just not do it. I don’t want to think of Seguin’s reaction when he notices that his stuff is sabotaged and finds out it was you.”

“I’ll blame it on Sharpie. Or I’ll get Sharpie to help me out. Also, what hockey player doesn’t bring extra equipment?” I said, formulating a plan on how to get the Bruins star.

“Good luck.” Lina said.

“Yeah... you’re helping.” I stated.

“What? No I’m not.” She argued.

“Yes you are. You said you were bored, and now this will help you rid of your boredness.”

“That was last night, not now! I want to sleep.” With that she easily threw me onto the floor and curled up into her bed.

“Fine. Be a meanie head. And that hurt.” I said to her with a pout as I got up and rubbed my butt. “I don’t have a big ass like Crosby’s to cushion the fall.”

“I don’t care. Go away. I want to sleep.”

“Fine.” I huffed, crossing my arms and walking out of her room.

I sat on the couch and turned on the TV, going straight to the NHL Network. I sighed as they talked about the games yesterday, and then Crosby.

“Congrats to him. He can play again. Now why do you have to mention him with every little thing you guys talk about? Talk about other players like- Ok. I can listen to you talk about Jordan Staal. He’s a good player. Doesn’t have the world acting like the sun shines from his ass.”

“You do know that you talk to yourself, right?” I jumped three feet off the couch, and turned to face Sharpie.

“How the hell did you get in here?” I asked him, placing a hand on my chest, feeling my heart pump double the speed it usually does.

“Sorry about scaring ya, kid. And I made a copy of your key. Your dad asked me to check in every once in a while.” I groaned.

“Really? Can’t he just call and ask how we’re doing?” I asked him.

“Hey, I’m just the middleman.”

“Yeah, I know.. Hey Sharpie, I thought of a prank... but I don’t know when to do it.”

“All Star Weekend.” He deadpanned. “Its the time when you can prank any person on the opposite teams because they’ll be on your team for that weekend.” I nodded and processed what he said.

“Great! Thanks Sharpie. I knew that WWSABD plan would pay off somehow.”

“WWSABD?”

“Yeah. What Would Sharpie And Burish Do. I swear, the league destroyed one of the best bromances in the NHL when they traded Burish.”

“Aw, I’m honored that I’m an acronym. And I did not have a bromance with Burish.”

“Whatever helps you sleep at night.” I said to him. “And I’m bored. Entertain me.”

“Ok.” He said and pulled out a ring made out of silver shining bells. “Play with this.”

“OH IT’S SHINY!” I squealed and grabbed it. “And it makes noise too!” I looked up and saw that Sharpie had his video camera out and had videotaped the whole thing. “You suck.” I said to him and returned to playing with the ring of bells.

“And that, Blackhawks fans, is immaturity, and ADHD at its finest. And sure enough, you’d find it in the youngest member of the team.”

I continued to play with the new toy, not even paying attention to Sharp or my surroundings.

“Hey Sharpie, how did you get in.... and why do you have a videocamera.. and why does Ave have a shiny bell ring?” Lina asked emerging from her room.

“I made a copy of your key. And I’m videotaping Ave playing with the ring of bells. Your sister has the attention span of a guppy.” He replied.

“I know. Keep her entertained while I make something to eat for us. You want some?” He just nodded and Lina disappeared into the kitchen.

“Was Lina just in here?” I asked looking up. Sharpie nodded. “Ok. I thought I smelled lavender.” I said as I went back to playing with the ring, letting out a giggle.

“You can tell your sister by her smell?” Sharpie asked. I nodded.

“Yeah. She uses this lavender body wash. It helps her relax. It’s also the scent she uses for her candles and bubble bath.”

“Wow.”

“Yep.. Hey! This one isn’t making a jingly sound. Sharpie, it’s broken.” I said to him, my voice beginning to crack.

“Oh, god. Please don’t cry. Ladies and gentlemen, remember this, make sure any toy you give to Avery is not broken and everything works.” He said to the video camera. “Now lets see if we can fix it.”

“Okie dokie.” I said handing him the ring.

“Seriously, it would seem that I had a younger sister not a twin,” Lina yelled from the kitchen.

“You’re a meanie head.” I yelled back at her before turning to Sharpie. “Is it working?” he sighed.

“I’m sorry, I can’t get it to jingle again... but I do have Play-Doh.” I reached my hand out for the Play-Doh.

“Dear god, don’t give it to her!” Lina yelled out.

“Why?” Sharpie asked us, placing the camera onto the table so it could videotape the both of us.

“Because,” she entered the living room. “If she makes a mess and I have to clean it, I will be in the worst moods ever. Also, give me the ring thingy.”

Sharpie handed it to her. She went back into her room and I had nothing else to play with and Sharpie wouldn’t give me the play-doh.

“Now I don’t have anything to play with.” I said to him sadly, my eyes going all big and puppy eyed.

“Lina! I don’t know how to handle that face! Help me!” Sharpie called out.

“Just say too bad!” Lina called back.

“I can’t! It’s too cute and innocent.”

“God if you have a girl, she’s going to have you wrapped around her finger.” She said as she walked back.

“Hey, speaking of babies, when is Abby due?” I asked him.

“Sometime soon. She’s reaching her due date. And now it’s hard for her to even walk.” I giggled.

“I can just see Abby waddling around.” Lina shook her head.

“I just hope that her water breaks when you’re close to be there. It would suck to be somewhere else.” Sharpie and I nodded.“But if you ever need baby clothes, for a boy or girl, call us up. We can get you some of Mattie and Mikey’s stuff and our old baby clothes.”

“Daddy still has those?” I asked her amazed. She nodded her head.

“Yep. Said that they remind him of the good old days where we couldn’t talk, crawled all over the place, and were cute all the time.” Lina said with a smirk.

“Ah, good ol’ Daddy making jokes about us even though we live miles away.” I sighed with a grin.

“Well, Sharpie, since you’re here, and Daddy made you promise to check in on us, wanna take me to practice since Lina here has a day off and I’m pretty sure she wants to take a bubble bath?” I asked him, batting my eyelashes.

“Alright. Get ready kiddo. We need to leave soon. We have an interview with Joey the Junior Reporter today.” He said.

“Really? Joey is coming? HE IS SO CUTE!” I hopped off the couch and ran into my bedroom to get ready. I emerged after ten minutes ready to go. “COME ON! SHARPIE WE GOTTA GET GOING! JOEY THE JUNIOR REPORTER IS COMING!” I said trying to pull him off the couch.

“I’m getting up!” He laughed.

“Off you two go. I’ll show up later. I want to see Joey.” Lina said before walking back into her room for her relaxing day.

The ride to Johnny’s Ice House was a short one. We were lucky that there wasn’t that much traffic on the way there, and Sharpie and I sang loudly to the radio.

“That was fun. We should do it again. WE SHOULD ROOM TOGETHER!” I said excitedly.

“Ok, we can talk to Coach about it. Now lets go get suited up. Fans can come watch us today.” I nodded and skipped to the locker room. Sharpie followed me, his laughter echoing off the walls.

“What’s got you so happy?” Coach Q asked me as I pushed open the door to the room.

“I get to meet Joey the Junior Reporter! I’ve always wanted to meet him! He is so cute!” I squealed as I quickly stripped down and began putting on my gear.

“Sharpie, did you give her sugar?”

“No sir. She’s been like that all day. I have a video to prove it. Its great.”

“Alright, come on guys. We only have an hour and a half!” Coach yelled out and left.

Practice was pretty uneventful. You had the team doing drills and then a small scrimmage, the fans who lived for the game, the fangirls that would squeal every time their favorite player skated by, and two girls in something that resembled a wedding dress holding up signs asking the younger players, such as Leddy and Hammer to marry them. Oh, and during all that, Lina skated right past me and hipchecked Taze right into the boards before skating back away and around the edge of the ice towards the end. I heard some gasps come from the fangirls and I smirked, skating passed them.

“Great practice. Go and get changed, but don’t leave, we have a special interview with Joey.” Coach Q said with a blow of his whistle. We all skated off and changed into our street clothes. Lina and I sat together as we watched Joey go from player to player, interviewing them about anything and everything.

“That kid is so cute.” Lina said.

“I know! I can’t wait to be interviewed by him.”

“Is it just me, or does he kind of look like Captain Serious.” I took a good look at him and gasped.

“Oh my god! He does!” I agreed and smiled as the little boy walked up and sat in between Lina and I.

“Hi, I’m Joey the Junior Reporter. You’re the newest member on the team, right?” I nodded.

“Yeah, I am. I’m Avery Addison. This is my twin sister Alina.” I said to him.

“Are you like the Sedin Twins? Does she play hockey too?”

“Yeah, kind of like them. And Alina does play hockey, but not for the NHL.” I said to him.

“Oh.” He said giving us an adorable smile. “Uh, the guys are saying that Sharpie is your new best friend on the team, is that true?”

“They are? Well, I think it’s kind of true. He comes to my apartment a lot. He made himself a key.” I replied.

“He eats all our food and then saves some for his wife Abby.” Lina said smiling.

“Really?” He asked,

“Yeah. He does. I found him in our house today, and then Lina made something in the kitchen, and I’m pretty sure he’s coming back to eat some of it.” I added.

“That must be cool.” Joey said.

“It is. Sharpie is a great guy.”

“Can I have a hug?” Joey asked us. Lina and I awed before nodding our heads.

“Yeah, of course buddy. It was great to meet you.” We said in unison as we hugged him. Everyone awed as we had our mini group hug. We parted from our group hug, and thanked Joey for his time.

“So buddy, you going to sign off?”

“Yeah, I’m Joey the Junior Reporter, signing off!” We stood up and clapped.

“Alright, out to the fans!” Leddy cheered as we all filed out the door and towards the parking lot where fans stood waiting for us to show up. I looked around and smiled as I saw Sharpie, Kane, and Toews surrounded by girls and fans.

“Uh.. Hi, Avery, can I get an autograph?” I turned towards the voice and had to step back because I could only see the person’s chest. I looked up and smiled at the teenage boy.

“Yeah sure, anything in particular you want me to sign?” I asked him. He pulled out an Addison Jersey and handing it to me. I signed my name on the left back corner and handed it back.

“And can I get a quick picture?” I nodded and stood by him, his arm wrapping low around my waist. I faked a smile at the camera as Lina quickly snapped it.

“Hey Ave, want to go get some pizza?” Kaner asked me, popping up. I nodded.

“Yeah sure.” I stepped away from the kid and gave him a smile. “It was nice meeting ya, thanks for the support.” I said and walked away.
“That guy was creepy.” Lina said after we walked up to Toews.

“You can say that again. Idiot put an arm around my waist like I was arm candy.” Kane narrowed his eyes and stepped closer to me, grabbing my hand, and lacing our fingers together.

“No more creeps.” He said. “You’ve got me now.” I awed and kissed his cheek, giggling as he began to tint pink.

“Hey, you guys ready to go?” Jonathan asked walking up to us, and grabbing Lina’s hand, lacing their fingers together as well. We nodded and walked towards the Pizza Parlor.
