Double Trouble

So What Exactly Happened

“So what exactly happened,” I asked.

“What I told you, you flipped, held onto Flower, and then fell asleep after eating.”

“Why did you let me socialize,” I groaned.

“They came to see you. Also, you had to eat.” She pointed out.

“I should have just stayed in my room,” I yawned. “Now what’s for breakfast?”

“I have no idea, let’s see what we have,” she said. “Well first, I think we should see who is here.”

I counted up how many Penguins were in the living room; Staal, Neal, Flower, Letang, Tangradi and Orpik. Now if I added the Blackhawks; Tazer, Kaner, Stalberg, Hammer, Leddy, Hossa, Seabrook, Bickell and Shaw. How the hell were they able to situate themselves in our living room with only one couch and two love couches? There was a knock on the door and I went to get it, oh well I guess we have to add another Penguin to the list the one whose ass can rival any chick; it was the Penguins Captain Sidney Crosby.

“Who’s at the door!” Ave yelled to me.

“Crosby,” I yelled back.

I walked back to give him some room. “I just came here so that I can get the guys, we have an early skate and they can’t miss it.”

“Well, good luck waking them all up. And we’re making breakfast.” I said to him.

“But before you leave, can you please tell me how the hell can you make your butt big, I mean look at mine,” Ave turned around. “I mean mine is nice and all but damn it’s not as big as yours...what’s your secret.”

Crosby had an uncomfortable expression and Avery didn’t help the case by staring at him, her crystal blue eyes going all wide and innocent.

“Ave, why are you asking that? I’m sorry, it’s early and well her filter is still asleep.” I said.

“Wow, Lina is being nice to the Penguins Captain this must be the Twilight Zone.” She said in awe.

“Oh shut up,” I said. “I may not like the team, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to be rude to all of them.”

“But you’ve called them Sh-”

“What the, I swear I think I might have to see if I can get a transfer. I don’t like all these men staying over at the apartment,” Mattie said. “ I think it was bad enough with finding out that they were dating Kane and Toews. I don’t want anyone else coming into this household. Especially Shitsburgh.”

“Matthew, what have I said about calling Pittsburgh, Shitsburgh,” Daddy scolded. “It’s fine on the ice but off, especially to their faces is rude-and I don’t care whether Alina says it or not, she is the young one, you need to set the example.”

I stifled a laugh. I just imagined that this is what Sharpie will have to deal with once Madelyn Grace is older.

“I agree with dad, I mean they’re not playing the Caps so...and also, wouldn’t that be insulting to me too since I live in Pittsburgh?” Mike said.

“I’d also like to point out that Mattie doesn’t live here. Lina and I do, so he can’t really tell us how he doesn’t want any more men coming into the apartment. Oh, I also happen to play with an all male team, and they tend to pop up around here every day.” Avery said with an innocent smile before turning back to Crosby.

“Ave..” I warned her. She brushed me off and looked up at the captain.

“So, what is your secret?” Crosby just stared at her before turning to us.

“Do I have to answer her question?” He asked. I sighed and nodded.

“It’s best if you do. You’ll get rid of her faster.” I said. He sighed.

“I work out, and I was born with it.” He muttered. Ave grinned before hugging him and running off to the kitchen to start on breakfast. Daddy just looked at him and back at me.

“Do I even want to know?” He asked. I shook my head no. “Yeah, I thought so. Now Matt. Apologize.” He said, returning to the issue we had beforehand.

“What? I-” he sighed. “I’m sorry.” He said through his teeth.

“It’s fine,” Crosby said. “Now I have to wake up the team.”

“Leave that to me,” I smirked. “Ave get the bagels ready...and Mattie, Mike I’ll need your muscle.”

“This is going to end bad. I can sense it.” I heard Mike mutter.

“Should I be worried, if something happens and they can’t play-”

“Don’t worry Golden Boy, it won’t be that bad.” I said.

“I think that the only thing you have to worry about is their mischef...mishef...mi-”

“Mischief?” Ave said.

Flower nodded. “Yes that, and I think that it won’t be bad. Right mon cheri?”

I shrugged. “Well this is nothing compared to what we’ve done in the past. Now Tweedles get all the hawks and stuff them in all three rooms. You choose.”

“Sweet, this as good as payback as we can get,” Mattie said, before he and Mike started doing exactly that.

Ave started to toast in some bagels and I started grabbing some hair gel and whipped cream and chocolate syrup. I looked at the Captain and at Flower, I handed Flower the whipped cream and Crosby the chocolate.

“Alright you two, start squirting all that onto their hair and hands. While I do the same to certain bromances that I see.”

The two Penguins hesitated but did as I said, luckily daddy had decided to go for a walk because then I wouldn’t feel so guilty. Once that was done, and the sleeping Penguins were well asleep, I had crept back to my room and silently opened the door to my room and had grabbed the horn that we use before chanting “Let’s go Caps!” I was about to leave when I saw Jonathan sleeping soundly on my bed, next to Kaner. I stifled a laugh before getting my camera and taking a picture of the sleeping couple, I heard Jonathan shift before opening his eyes.

“What’s going on?” He asked yawning.

I walked up to him and kneeled at the edge of the bed. “Nothing, just maybe pranking a few Penguins...just make sure you don’t go outside alright.”

I leaned in and gave him a kiss on the lips and he tried to deepen it but it was pranking time. I walked out the door and into the living room and smirked at everyone who was awake. The Tweedles were smiling, Avery wished that she had thought of it earlier, and Flower and Crosby looked at the horn with horror. I took a deep breath. I blew the horn, every Penguin woke up with a start. It took them a moment for them to relax and I laughed my ass off when they were rubbing their eyes and realized they were covered with whipped cream, chocolate syrup, and gel.

“Rise and shine ladies, now if you’d like to clean up there is a bathroom down the hall. Avery has made you guys some bagels, now apparently you have a morning skate so I’d hurry it up.”

The guys hurried up. I saw the Tweedles were laughing their asses off and Avery trying so hard not to burn the bagel by being distracted. Crosby just sighed and said he would meet them at the rink and Flower looked at me.

“I hope that I am never on the end of a prank, mon cheri.”

“I doubt it, they adore you too much, the worst they can do is probably change your soda from regular to diet.” Mike said.

“If that is all I get, then I shall be accepting of it,” he said walking to the door. “Now if you excuse me, I have to go with Sidney. Revoir mes chères filles et peut ce soir meilleur gagne.”

“Bye Flower,” Ave and I said.

It took like an hour and the Penguins had sped up and grabbed bagels and left. The remaining Blackhawks walked out and we laughed at how they were complaining at how they had ended up in our rooms; except Kaner and Tazer they kept quiet. A bit after having a huge breakfast with everyone we kicked them out and started the pre-game ritual. We decided to get dressed and had to cover ourselves more because we weren’t allowed out of the apartment until we did.I decided to dress up a bit more than usual considering that daddy was here. I went all blue in everything and Avery had done the same the Addison men had on suits and we all left for United Center. We had separated from Avery and went to the family box where we found Abby there with Madelyn Grace.

“Aw, you brought in Madelyn Grace. How is she?”

“Well, she’s doing fine and having Patrick around helps, except when he starts hovering. Want to hold her?”

I nodded my head and carefully cradled the 11 day old and just carefully rocked back and forth. It had reminded me the day Sharpie had gotten the call saying that she was in labor.

I was walking towards the Blackhawks locker when I could see Avery run down the hall like a chicken with it’s head cut off. When she spotted me she practically sprinted and grabbed my arm.

“What going on?” I asked amused. If she pulled a prank on the Islanders then I’m not bailing her out.

“Baby—born…Sharpie.” She said in between breaths.

I was confused. “What, take a breath—wait Ave slow down heels,” I yelled as she dragged me down the corridor.

We arrived at the locker room and I was surprised to see all the men surround Sharpie who appeared to be in a daze.

“What’s going on?” I asked no one in particular.

“Sharpie, received a call from Abby…she’s having the baby,” Hossa told me.

It took me a millisecond to process what had been said and I was freaking the fuck out on the inside, yet I was surprised at how calm I was on the exterior. I could see why Avery had gone batshit crazy. I walked up to the forward and kneeled as much as my dress could permit me.

“Sharpie,” I said softly.

He looked at me and I could see the range of emotions between shock and sadness.

“She’s having a baby and I’m not there,” he said soft.

It broke my heart feeling that he was missing the birth of his daughter. I knew that I had to do something so I got up and looked at every member of the team and started barking orders at every player making sure that they made calls to get a cab, plane tickets and whatever else was needed; Avery had changed. The rest of the Blackhawks were staying while the three of us—Sharpie, Avery, and I—were heading off to the airport and back to the Windy City. It had taken us roughly a few hours between New York and Chicago but luckily, Virginia teaching us about being bad drivers and being able to get away with it helped with me speeding off to the hospital. We arrived shortly after and rushed inside, Sharpie pulled a Flash and arrived in time and met his baby girl. The baby was named Madelyn Grace Sharp and she was a precious child. Sharing that experience with Sharpie had brought tears to my eyes.

“Lina, are you crying?” Mattie asked worried.

I sniffled. “No it’s the cold of UC.”

I looked over Abby and she gave me a look that understood what I had just thought of, she was inquisitive.

“So, tell me Lina,” Abby said. “Is this the Addison men that have the whole team, aside from the married ones, shaking in fear?” The amusement in her voice made me laugh.

“Why yes they are,” I said.

I carefully gave Madelyn Grace back to Abby and let her socialize with the men while I watched the game. Damn it not even the pranks had shaken up these Penguins, they had won and well we returned home ready to eat and then just watched movies, our daily routine. I received a phone call and answered but wished I hadn’t.

“Hey John,” I said surprised.

“Alina,” his voice rang through. “We need to talk.”
