The Great Escape

Big Bro to the Rescue

“Holly”

We found stashes of credit cards in the guy’s glove box, so we got our gasoline for the SUV and plenty of snacks to eat (it was a good thing we didn’t need the pin number).

We’ve been traveling for about ten hours now, and this time I took the wheel, Izzy went to the trunk to sleep, and Cam was in the passenger seat, staring out the window. Everyone else was asleep too, so I had the phone, looking at where we needed to go. “Why don’t you get some sleep?” I told him.

It was dusk now, and I knew he was tired. “I’m fine.” He said, still looking out the window.

He was lying, and I can tell from his mind, “Might as well. Nothing else to do.”

He shrugged, and looked over at me, “You know… maybe my brother can help us.”

I blinked in surprise, “How so?”

“He’s a real nerd when it comes to computers. I remember when I was thirteen he hacked into the school computer to change his grades. He never got caught when he did it. It was funny at the time, but he’s been able to hack into pretty much anything. He also told me he helped the government once, but wouldn’t say what.”

That was the most I’ve heard out of Cam’s mouth in these few months that I was actually speechless. Not to mention he talked about something in his family. It somehow made me feel special, but I didn’t want to get into that kind of mood. “What do you think he can do to help us?” I asked.

“Well, we want to make sure those scientist stay off our tail,” He said, looking into the window, “I figured he could help us with that, if he’s up to it.”

He stared at the mirror, “Hey, has this car been following us for a while now?”

I looked into the rear view mirror, there was a car, exactly like the one we’ve been driving, following us. “I don’t know.”

“Let’s change directions and see if they follow.” He said.

I drove off the interstate, and the car did follow, and Cam kept watch silently as we drove back on. “They’re still following us.”

“Who are they?” I asked.

“They look normal, asides from the suits their wearing. I think they’re waiting until we stop before they do something.”

I looked at my gas tank, which was pretty full. “How do you think their tracking us?”

“Jenna said something about the chips we had… maybe from that.” He said, looking at me.

I bit my lower lip, “Let’s say we change directions and we go to your brother…”

“Yeah?”

“Think he can mess with these bad boys and get them off our tail ends?” I asked.

“Give me the phone.”

I did, and he dialed a number. He looked a little nervous. “Hey, bruh?”

And that’s when he started to explain what was going on at the moment. He left a lot of details out about the facility and stuff, but he made his explanation as blunt as possible, then he was off the phone.

“Keep driving to the twin’s house. He said he’ll take care of it.”

We did, but it took a while before the people behind us to lose track, and we had to book it then, so they would lose sight of us.
