A Lifeless Dream

Alicia’s POV

I woke up the next day in the unfamiliar room. I blinked a couple of times as I tried to remember where I was and then I remember where I was when I saw an arm wrapped around my waist puling me close to a strong chest.

It felt weird not to remember anything. I really was trying to remember, I wanted to remember my life the months that I spent here but most of all I wanted to remember Brian. I was grateful of him staying with me in the hospital…he never left and for some weird reason I felt safe when he was there and I felt safe right now…like everything was going to be alright because he is here.

I turn around in bed only to come face to face with his sleeping face. His lips were slightly parted and his hair was messy but he looked cute. I wanted so badly to remember him I felt a connection with him. I was so confused because I recognized his eyes the moment I saw him…they seem familiar like I had seen them before not Brian just his eyes.

I carefully got out of the bed not wanting to wake up Brian. I pulled the covers further up to his body and kissed his forehead before I exited the room. I didn’t know why I kissed him it just felt the right thing to do. Before I left the room I saw him hugging the pillow that I was sleeping and cuddling to it. I am not going to lie that it didn’t bring a smile to my face.

I got to the guestroom and grabbed my clothes before I got into the bathroom to have a much needed shower. After I showered I got dressed and I let my hair down to dry on their natural waves as headed downstairs to the kitchen for some breakfast.

When I got into the kitchen I was surprised to see Brian there cooking. I must have spent a lot time in the shower.

“‘Morning” I said and sat down on one of the stools on the kitchen island

“Good morning” he said as he glanced at me behind his shoulder

“I thought you didn’t cook”

“Well I told you I only know how to make eggs and since I had cook only one time for you I said why not do it again?” he said and placed two plates on the kitchen island

“That’s good” I said when I took a bite

“I knew you were going to like it…you liked it last time too” he smiled

“Thank you”

“You’re welcome…but it wasn’t that much of a deal” he shrugged

“I’m not talking about the food” he looked confused “Thank you for trying to make me remember” I said and he looked embarrassed because I got him but I really wasn’t mad at him if at all I appreciated it.

“I’m sorry…I just I had to try” he looked at me with guilt filled eyes

“Don’t be sorry…I really appreciate it and I hope that I will remember one of this days it’s really frustrating not remember anything” I shook my head

He didn’t say anything and we continue to eat in silence which I was fine with. When we finished our breakfast Brian washed the dishes even thought I insisted of doing them because he cooked but he didn’t let me.

I sat on the living room flipping through the channels trying to find something interesting to see. I found a movie and settled on the couch to see it.

“The guys will be here in about an hour. It’s okay right?” Brian said and I jumped from my sit because I didn’t hear him coming to the living room

“You know it’s your house…but yes I’m happy to see them actually” I smiled up at him

“I know but I want you to be comfortable here…” he took a sit next to me

I just nodded and gave him a smile to show him that I understood where he was coming from.

After a while and been extremely bored because the movie I choose sucked there was knock on the front door and Brian went to answer it even though we knew who it was.

“Pancake” I heard Jimmy shout before he hugged me

“Pancake?” I laughed

“I used to call you that…anyway how are you” he took a sit to the couch opposite from mine

“I like that nickname” he grinned “and I’m fine thank you”

All the guys including Lucy came and greeted me before they all took a sit on the living room. We were making jokes and having slight conversation which I felt like it was something natural with them and I was sure before the accident it was something that I always did with them.

“So what are you going to do for your birthday?” Zacky asked Brian

“When it’s your birthday?” I turned to look at Brian

“In five days but I don’t want to do anything “he shrugged

“Oh come on I wanna get drunk” Johnny whined and everyone laughed

“You have to do something for your birthday” I said to Brian

“Yeah dude Alicia’s right it doesn’t have to be something big you can do a BBQ just us and your family” Matt said and everyone nodded

“Sound good…I guess I’ll do just that” Brian agreed with that and Matt told him that he will help him with the food because as the rest of the guys said Matt is the master on grilling food…I’m sure they are right and I know that if I remember I would have agreed with them too.

The next five days passed real quickly and it was finally Brian’s birthday. I woke up early in the morning took a shower and headed to the kitchen in order to make breakfast for Brian and me.

I was just finishing breakfast when I heard footsteps coming down the stairs. I smiled as I placed the two plates full with pancakes and bacon along with two cups of coffee which I knew Brian needed in the morning. He walked in the kitchen but he didn’t get the chance to say anything as I all but ran to him pulling him into a hug.

“Happy Birthday” I murmured to his ear

“Thank you” he said and he took a step behind to look behind my shoulder where the kitchen island was “Wow is that for me?” he grinned and pointed to the food

“Yeap…you’re the birthday boy” I grinned

He took a sit and I joined him as we started eating our breakfast making small talk during that. I had helped him with the food and drinks for the party which I thought that it was the least I could do for him.

“Everything is ready for today?” I asked when I placed our empty plates to the sink

“Yeah…everyone is coming here around 1” he reply

“Do you need me to do something?” I asked

“No you’ve done enough already” he shook his head

“It’s the least I could do Bri…I didn’t even got you a present” I said and sat down on one of the stools next to him

“Lissa” he sighed “you just got out of the hospital you should rest ok? I don’t need present’s “he smile and I nodded

We continued to talk and after a while we both went upstairs to get ready. Since I had already showered I changed my clothes did my makeup and straighten my hair before I got dressed in a two-tone sweetheart dress and a pair of Christian Louboutin heels.

I exited my bedroom the same time Brian was I stopped and waited for him. He turned around and smiled at me… he was wearing a white v neck, a pair of black jeans and a pair of Nikes.

“Wow you look beautiful” he said and wrapped an arm around my shoulders before we started walking down the stairs and I blushed.

“Thanks…You look very handsome too” I smiled up at him

Just as he was about to answer the doorbell rung and Brian went to answer it. I was nervous because his parents were coming and I was really worried to meet them. I was waiting at the end of the staircase when I saw Brian and three people behind him coming towards me.

“Alicia I want you to meet my family” Brian said when they reached me… “That’s my father Brian Haner Senior” he said and pointed to a man which looked like Brian only older “That’s my mom Suzy and that’s my sister McKenna” he pointed to a thirteen year old girl who looked exactly like him

“It’s really nice to meet you” I said and shook their hands

“It’s nice to meet you too Alicia…Brian has said a lot about you” Suzy smiled at me

“I hope only good things” I chuckled

“Of course”

After that we all headed back to the backyard to wait for the guys. Brian’s father was such a funny guy and I couldn’t stop laughing with the jokes he said and Suzy must be one of the sweetest women I had ever met she remind me of my mother in a way she was always nice to everybody. McKenna well she was really cute and shy which remind me of Lexi she was always the shy one in the family.

When the guys and Lucy came… you could say that the party really started. The guys started drinking while I, Lucy and Suzy were talking by the pool. I must say I was having fun and I had completely forgotten about my memory loss something that I wanted to do today.

Around 4 we brought the cake so Brian could blow his candles and become officially 25. We all took around turns to wish him happy birthday again and me and Lucy served the cake to everyone.

The guys and Brian’s family left around 8 o’clock. Johnny eventually got drunk so someone had to get him home and the rest of the guys were fine and in state to drive. So here we were me and Brian cleaning the backyard which was full with beer cans. When we finished we sat on the pool our legs in the water.

“So what did you wish?” I asked looking down at the pool

“If I tell you it’s not going to come true” he laughed

“Oh come please tell me” I whined

“Nope.” He shook his head

“Hey are you hot?” he asked after a moment

“Yeah a little why?” I didn’t get and answer instead he throw me into the pool and jumped in too.

“Are you crazy?” I said when I reached the surface and saw Brian who couldn’t stop laughing

“Come on it was funny and you said that you were hot so it must have cool you a bit” he continue to laugh and I let a chuckle escaped my lips

“You just had a habit to throw me into pools…once at Jimmy’s place and now here” I told him when we got out of the pool

“Wait! What?” his eyes widened

“What? I said that you have a habit to throw me into pools…” I shrugged

“Alicia…that… at Jimmy’s happened before…you know” he said in shock

“Oh My God” I gasped when I realized what he meant…I remembered something

“You remember?”

“I just remember you throwing me into a pool and I have no clue how but I know it was at Jimmy’s” I said in shock too

“Well I guess my wish didn’t go wasted” he grinned

“You wish for me to remember?” my eyes widened

“Well…yeah I did” he didn’t have a chance a chance to say anything else because I jumped on him my arms around his neck and my legs around his waist as I hugged him as tightly as I could.

“Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!” I yelled happily and placed a big kiss on his cheek and I felt him hug me back

“You’re welcome” he said and kissed the side of my head

When we broke our hug we headed upstairs to change and go to sleep because it was already late. Seems like when you’re cleaning times passes but I think he spent a while talking. It was easy…talking to Brian it was like something natural.

I changed into my pajamas before I lay down in my bed and making myself comfortable. I was out the moment my head hit the pillow. I felt happy that I had remembered something that meant something right? Maybe during the next days I will remember more things and eventually I will get my memory back.

Suddenly in my sleep I had a dream or maybe it wasn’t maybe it was a memory? But how can this happen? It was me and Brian kissing my hands was around his neck and he was holding me close by my hips. When we broke our kiss he told me something and my face fell I couldn’t hear what it was like a silent movie you could see the movie but the actors didn’t speak. Then we started fighting and he left and I was left crying…what was happening…and suddenly a voice was calling my name and I woke up.

I was sweating and tears were running down my face. I looked at him looking worried and waiting for me to say something. What could I possibly say I just knew that my dream wasn’t a dream it was a memory I just knew it. So I said the only thing I could say

“Why did we kiss?”
