It's Been a While

Jesus Lorenzo, This Is Painful As ***s!

“JESUS. SWEET JESUS. OH, GOD.” Frank yelled when he was about three seconds into his visit. Then he collapsed on the floor, which was obviously not a good thing.

“What’s wrong? Who died? Why is Frank lying on the floor?” I asked. I went over to check on him and made Gavin stay by the phone in case an ambulance was needed.

“Hurts. So. Much. Can’t. Talk. WHY DOES IT FEEL LIKE AN ALIEN IS RIPPING ITS WAY OUT OF MY STOMACH.”

“Is he having a baby?” Gavin questioned jokingly. I rolled my eyes at him. Of all the idiots who could help in this situation, I was stuck with that idiot? Just great…

“Really? Someone’s rolling around on the floor in pain, and that’s what you say?”

“I thought it would lighten the mood a bit...”

“GUYS! OW. OW. OW OW OW OW OW OW! GODDAMMIT. JUST HELP ME!”

“Are you sure you’re not pregnant?” I asked Frank. I had to admit, Gavin had a point. It did lighten the mood.

“PAIN.”

“Okay, bad. That’s bad. Hospital?”

“YES. TAKE ME THERE. THIS FUCKING HURTS.” Frank screamed. Gavin picked up Frank and carried him to my car bridal style. I told Jamia, who was bringing Miles, Cherry, and Lily into the house, to watch Bandit and Dominik too.

“Gavin, get in the back and make sure Frank doesn’t die. I’m driving.” I said, not waiting for him to whine about it.

We got to the hospital relatively quickly and, due to the amount of screaming that was happening, he got to see a doctor right away. After a quick examination, they realized he had appendicitis. He needed emergency surgery to remove the damn thing before it killed him, which would suck. I called Jamia to let her know first, then Natalie, then Becca, who turned out to be hiding in her room the entire time. Everyone got to the hospital as soon as possible. I guess, in a weird way, we had our family reunion as planned, just in a hospital instead of a house. For our family, it seemed oddly fitting.
