Mara is looking at me with this big grin. I came out to her like two days ago. It's contagious so I start to grin, too. "What?" I ask her. "I saw your lil girlfriend today. " I sigh. "I'm gonna break up with her." Mara looks at me like she doesn't believe me. "I will. I can't keep dragging on this relationship. "
She looks at me funny. "Ya sure? I think you're doing the right thing, but I'm definitely not gonna pressure you to do it. Not if you're not ready."
"I'm so sick of that girl though. I'm done with her. I never even started with her."
Mara squints at me. "What does that even mean?"
I shrugged. "You get what I was tryna say, though."
"Alright, Geoff. I'm gonna hold you to it. I don't care how much I dislike Brittany, nobody deserves that."
I nod my head, ashamed. I close my locker and we retreat to our next class, Trigonometry. I decided I was gonna break up with my girlfriend that day.
I'm gonna free myself of having to show affection to a person I wasn't even attracted to.
