What Goes Around Comes Around

Chapter 9: First Impressions

I took a seat on the cold, metal bench in the hockey rink. It was a newly renovated rink, team banners all over the place. The Eagles. She played for a team named the Eagles.

I couldn't help but think of what my life would have been like if I didn't reject them, if I owned up to what I did. I still would've been a professional hockey player, that was my set future for as long as I could remember. I would go to as many of Peyton's games I could have, cheering her on every step of the way. Aurora probably would've gone back to school after a while. She always wanted to be a pediatric surgeon. She always had stellar grades in school, without really trying either. They wouldn't live in that shitty apartment. They wouldn't be in that sketchy neighborhood. I could've gave them the world. I still can; better late than never? Right?

Wrong. Aurora is going to be ridiculously reluctant to accept anything I try to give her. As is Peyton. She certainly got all of that wit from her mother, which originally attracted me to Aurora. She was gorgeous, much prettier than all the other girls in our town, but she didn't flaunt it or really care about who I was. She saw through my shit. She saw through all of it.

Flashback:

"Tommy!" I screamed at my team mate as he rushed down the ice, not even looking to pass the puck. He knew I'd be open; I'm always open.

He shot the puck, top shelf, right near the goalies glove. He caught it with ease, not even looking like he was challenged at all. I would've fucking scored. I always score.

I hastily skated back to the bench, my shift being over. I was beyond pissed. Tommy was acting like a fool. He knew that whenever he got the puck, he passed it to me. I collapsed onto the bench, violently grabbing a water bottle and squirting some in mouth as I felt someone sit next to me. My eyes shifted over and there sat Tommy, looking nervous as all hell. I glared at him and he looked down at his skates.

"Well?" I bit out, continuing to glare at him until he spoke, until he apologized to me. Tommy visibly swallowed, and looked back to me.

"I-I'm sorry I didn't pass it to you, I just thought..." He paused and stood up. I stood up right next him, bumping into him as I went. He got stumbled a little but quickly caught himself. I smirked at him.

"You thought what? That you could score?" I laughed harshly, right in his face. He looked away, his cheeks even a bright color now.

"Next time, just pass the fucking puck." I clapped his shoulder, harder than a friendly shoulder slap. He mumbled something back and sat down. I hopped over the bench and went out and scored, again. I smiled triumphantly as my team mates tapped my helmet in congratulations.

I was all showered and sitting on the locker room bench, talking to the captain when there was a knock on the door. Coach stuck his head in, looking around the room.

"All right, boys. We have a lady coming in, so stay covered up, okay?" We ignored him, figuring it was just some mother making am announcement for fundraiser we really didn't give a shit about.

"And then he fell off the--" The captain immediately stopped speaking as he glanced towards the door. The chatter instantly quieted and I looked at what had stopped it. Or should I say who.

She stood there, scanning the room, and everything about her screamed confidence. But that wasnt the thing that caught my eye first.

She had long wavy hair, a blonde so rich and shiny that it resembled gold. Her porcelain skin was blemish-free, her cherry red lips full and pouty, and those perfectly shaped, crystal blue eyes still looking around the room.

She was stunningly pretty, the kind of gorgeous where you just couldn't help but stare and stare. She cleared her throat, not looking uncomfortable at all.

"Hi, boys." She spoke, smiling a little bit. She was even prettier when she smiled. I didn't think she could get any more attractive. "I'm new to your school and just started on the school newspaper. I was told to come and interview the people that I thought had the most impact on the game." A smirk played at my lips. I would get to be alone with her right away.

I confidently popped up, taking 3 long strides to get to where she was standing. She looked at me, confused, as I put my arm around her. She shrugged it off but I didn't budge.

"Do you wanna do this here? Or the lobby? The back seat of my car..?" I suggested as I gave her my killer grin. Her beautiful blue eyes widened and she stepped away, my arm falling off her shoulders. The guys laughed, some at my crudeness and some at the shocked expression on her face.

Her expression quickly changed to one of anger. "Actually, no, you aren't on the list. Thomas Valcon, can we talk first?" She smiled at the freshmen as his eyes snapped up and they darted to mine, where a storm was brewing up. He shouldn't even be playing.

"Uh, uh sure, yeah okay." He mumbled as he stood up. The guys laughed and my cheeks heated up, in embarrassment and in anger.

"He didn't do shit!" I shouted at the girl as she stood there, calmly staring up at me. She gave me a look that only my mother had managed to pull off.

"He didn't? He didn't do anything?" She asked, disbelief laced in her voice. I nodded, completely sure of myself. "He fought for the puck, he took hits to protect you. You're the pussy of the team. Sure you have good hands, but that's about it. You need to sit down and stop embarrassing yourself. And I swear to god if you ever put a hand on me again.." I stared at her, dumbstruck. The team made cat calls and I couldn't believe she told me off like that, in front of everyone.

I saw Tommy smiling slightly, looking at the ground.

"It was nice meeting you guys. Well, almost all of you." She gave me a pointed look and turned towards the door, Tommy right behind her. I sat next to my bag, not looking at anyone but I could hear their snickers.

"Sweetheart?" The captain called out and she turned around, an eyebrow raised. "What's your name?" He asked and I glanced at him, seeing a hungry look in his eyes as he looked her over.

"Aurora." She told him and walked out, without another word.
