Chapter thirteen

"So. I didn't want to get naked." "Alright, just a couple more?" I asked and they all nodded in agreement. "Uh, Alex truth or dare?" "Sit in the lap of a participant of your choice until your next turn." Alex smiled and lifted himself only a little off the ground and onto my lap. "Jack truth or dare?" "Kiss the person that you think finds you the most attractive." Jack of course came over in our direction but quickly and barley on Alex's cheek. "Sorry Adrienne, I think Alex finds me just a bit more attractive than you." "No, Alex totally can have that kiss." I laughed. "Awe, you want a kiss to?" He asked moving into my cheek. I quickly stuck my hand up. "No, no, Jack I'm fine." I laughed. "I think Jack wanted to kiss you." Alex whispered to me after Jack moved back to his spot. "Now I have something to taunt him about." He continued. "I think I'm going to sleep." I said raising sliding from under Alex. "Yeah, me too." Derrek added standing up and following me. I crawled into my bunk sliding comfortably under the blankets, well as comfortable as you can get in a small space. Oh how I love touring. I looked over and noticed Derrek on the other side. "Who's under me?" I asked thinking that he was suppose to be. "Jack. He called it before I could." I let the thought escape and though about today. Of course I couldn't help but think about Alex. Come on, it can't be it's Alex Gaskarth the singer and guitarist of my favorite band. Nothing on tour is serious but why am I doubting myself now? I pulled the blanket up close to my nose, something that always helped me go to bed. With good dreams already formed in my head I fell asleep. "Adrienne?" I heard whispering from above me waking me up from my light sleep. I shifted over and stuck my head out of my bunk looking up to see Alex. "You're awake." He said with a smile. I laughed, "You're so dumb." "I can't sleep." He groaned. "I was sound asleep but y'know." "Come on." He said softly getting out of his bunk. "Alex where are you going?" "I'm going to ask the driver to stop at Walmart." "Why?" "We need food, plus it'll be fun." I groaned and got out of my bunk and followed him to the front. "Hey man, long night?" Alex asked approaching our driver. "No, it's been pretty good." "I know it's late but do you know if there's a Walmart nearby?" "I'm sure I saw a sign just a few back. Let me check my GPS." Alex turned back to me. "It'll be fun." He assured me with a smile. His so smiley when he can't sleep. "There's one just a mile away." The driver informed. "Awesome, thanks." Alex said softly patting him on the back and turned towards the couch. "I'm going to get dressed." I mentioned. "No, go like that." "I'm in shorts and a tank top." "I'm in batman pajama pants." "Fine. Can't I put makeup on and do my hair?" "You look great." He said his smile radiating making me smile as well "Why is your smile so contagious " I asked. He shrugged, "I didn't know it was." I nodded and turned around. "I'm at least going to throw my hair up." I informed going to the back and grabbing my purse. I pulled out a single black elastic band and I flipped my hair down and brushed my hair with my fingers into my other hand. I wrapped the elastic around and finished my messy bun. I put my purse back and grabbed my Hello Kitty red slippers out of my suitcase and slid them onto my soft feet. I greeted the bunks again and resurfaced to the front where Alex was quietly watching TV. "What are you watching?" I asked sitting down next to him. "House." "I love that show!" I said enthused we had a same interest. I shifted my leg to fall perfectly over my knee and intensely watched the medical drama. "You really do love house don't you?" He smiled with a small chuckle. "Yeah, I've seen pretty much every episode." I laughed. "I guess I know what to buy you for your birthday." "Let me guess, you looked that up too?" "Yea." He said resting his elbow on the side of the couch and his chin in the palm of his hand. "I was curious if it was close." "It sucks we have to play on it. I was hoping by some odd chance it was on an off day." "Why you'll have hundreds singing happy birthday to you." I sighed knowing I couldn't exactly tell him why. Of course my fans made me happy but the fact it was another year that I hadn't wasted of my life. Of course this band isn't a waste, I'm so glad i've gotten to where I've gotten but there's so much more to life then playing shows all the time. I'm 20 and I haven't had a boyfriend in years. I just would like to spend my birthday in my bunk not having to talk to anyone, not having to thank anyone, just sit there but there's nothing I can do about it. "I know." I simply said. "What's wrong?" He asked noticing the smile fell from my lips. I'm so obvious. "We're here." The driver said stopping the bus. "Nothing." I said grabbing his hand and jumping of the bus. "What exactly are we buying?" "We'll buy food, come back to the bus, then probably get kicked out." "Where even are we?" I asked. "Uh, I have no idea." The doors opened automatically in front of us and we ventured into the large store. "What do you think we need?" I asked as we roamed the food isle. "What do you eat?" "Mac and cheese is a must." "Alright, alright." "Uh, here." He said handing me small bowls of the particular food." "Uh, what kind of cereal." He said looking at the different boxes. "Fruity pebbles." I said grabbing the multicolored box and putting in the the shopping cart. "Uh, Rian likes this coco shit." He added throwing it in the cart also. A half an hour later we finished shopping with a full cart. We went to the only register that was open but since it was so early there was only one customer with a single item in front of us. When the elder cleared we pushed the cart up and set our items on the moving surface. The cashier sighed seeing how larger our item count was. I put a had a little sympathy on my face and turned to look at Alex, I then realized I was completely oblivious to him. He was looking around the store, lost in his own thoughts, yet a smile still curled on his lips. He was such a child, didn't have a care in the world. Free from any worries; he was enjoying life. I couldn't help but watch him, how he does it. How he could be so 'care free', a charastic of him that was driving me insane. "That would be 133.68" The cashier said snapping us back to reality. I looked down at my pocket, reaching my hand inside. When I got the money out Alex had already grabbed the cart and was inches in front of me. I looked at the cashier embarrassed but quickly caught up with Alex. "Hey, I had the money." "So did I." He simply replied as the cold air flushed over both of us as we exited the store. "Let me give it back to you." "I don't want money. But you owe me." He smirked stopping and turning to me. "I owe you?" I asked raising an eyebrow. "Yeah." He said turning back around and continued pushing the cart towards the bus. "Wo, wo, wait!" "What?" He asked still walking. "What do you mean I owe you?" "I mean you owe me." He said stopping the cart as we had arrived at the bus door. He turned to me and inched close. "You owe me." He said with a low voice and a smirk on his lips. He turned around and gathered groceries in his hand. I stood there still confused. "Wait Alex!" I shouted getting onto the bus. "Shh." He hushed. "Alex." I said quieter. He didn't reply. He simply set the groceries down on the couch and hurried off the bus. "God damnit." I mumbled to myself. I got off the bus with no hope of getting Alex to explain right now. I grabbed some bags and went back and forth until we had gotten them inside. I stood by the cart facing the sore waiting for Alex. Suddenly I felt arms wrap around my waist. "Alex!" I screamed as he picked me up. He started laughing. "Don't wake the others up!" He scolded placing me into the buggy. I sat down and turned around to see what he was doing. He placed his food on the bottom bar of the cart and used his other foot to push. "Alex we're going to flip!" I said laughing. I quickly got on my knees and turned around facing Alex not wanting to see what was going to happen. "You're okay." He laughed. When we were fast enough he placed his other foot on the bar. I squeezed my eyes shut, "Alex!" I screamed again as I could hear the dings from the inside of the store. Suddenly the buggy stopped. I opened my eyes and felt arms under my knee and grasped tightly around my back. He swung me over the buggy side and eased me to the ground. "I wouldn't let you get hurt." He assured. I lightly smacked him playfully across the chest, "don't scare me like that." I walked past him and into the store being greeted with large lights. "What do you want to do first?" I asked before realizing he wasn't behind me. "Alex?" I turned around to see him playing some machine game. "Fuck!" He yelled loudly. I walked over to him seeing what he was trying to get. "See that damn fucker mouse?" I nodded and pulled my eyebrows together confused on why he wants a mouse. "I can't get him!" "Let me try." He nodded and moved over. With one quick motion I grabbed the stuffed animal with the claw and dropped it into the box. I turned to look at Alex who's mouth was open. I laughed and lifted his chin closing his mouth. I reached down sticking my hand through the flap and pulling the mouse out. I handed it to Alex bus he pushed it back towards me. "I was trying to win it for you but, y'know." I slightly blushed, what is he trying to pull? "Come on." I laughed grabbing his wrist pulling him past the registers. "Where are we going?" He asked. "Toys of course." Although we walked side by side I still had my hand lightly grasped around his wrist. "You can let go now." "I'll loose you. If I let go and turn my head for a second you'll be on the ceiling." "The ceiling sounds cool." "Oh my god look bouncy balls!" I said hurrying over to them, jerking Alex behind me. "If you're that excited over seeing balls.." Alex started to talk and I turned to look at him. "I was just offering." I grabbed a purple ball a little smaller than my hand. "Can these break?" I asked finally. "I don't think so." I threw it hard on the ground and it bounced hitting a sign and bounced into the next isle. Laughing Alex and I walked over there. When we saw it we both fell quiet. There it was, the bouncy ball splated all over the floor. "I think we accomplished everything in life." I said dramatically. Next we ventured to the outdoor activities section. Of course we had to dress up in camouflage and chase each other around. That's where we got our first warning. Not wanting to get kicked out so quick we went to the clothing. I found a wig and placed it snug on Alex's head. I took a picture and put it on instagram, "While the guys are asleep @AlexAllTimeLow and I are having fun in Walmart. It's four am and how Alex convinced me I don't know. #kids." "Fuck!" Alex exclaimed getting his phone out of his pocket. "What?" "Flyzik texted me. He's pissed we stopped." "Come on then. We can't make your manager mad." I sighed. "No, wait." "What?" "We still haven't gotten kicked out." "What do you have in mind?" "Do you think we'd get kicked out for getting naked?" "And probably arrested." Alex shrugged and stripped him of his shirt, and I did the same. I wasn't ashamed of my body, I was slim and small. It was only my facial features that really bothered me. We started walking around the store and suddenly Alex started to take his pajamas off. I laughed at how stupid this was but pulled mine off. "Excuse me, can you put your clothes back on?" One of the workers asked. Alex and I looked at each other and I felt his fingers slip into mine. A split second later we jolted off running through all the isles screaming and laughing. We knocked over some shelves as we ran by our feet accidentally kicked them. I turned behind us to see two employees chasing after us. "Alex, let's get out!" He headed straight for the door and the cold air kissed my skin. "Over here!" Alex said pulling on my hand towards the back side of the store. "Oh my fuck." I said laughing. "Shh." He hushed. "Where'd they go?" We heard vague voices. "I don't know. They must have left." "Check over there." One commanded. We heard footsteps inch closer to us and my heart started beating fast. Alex turned to me flashing a calming smile. "Hey, I uh, I'm not turning you in." The employee said turning the corner. "I'm a big fan of you guys, do you mind getting a picture?" Alex and I exchanged looks and nodded. I took the picture of him with Alex and Alex took a picture of me with him. He walked away and we bursted into laughter. "Oh my god half naked pictures of me with a fan is going to be all over the internet." The adrenaline stopped running through me and the coldness rose bumps on my skin. "Alex I'm cold and I left my clothes in there." "Here." He said reaching out his arms. I looked in his eyes, I just can't figure him out. He scooped me up into his warm arms but out eyes never left each other. "What is it?" He finally asked. "I can't figure you out." I mentioned as he started walking. "Stop trying to." His voice spoke soft and his eyes searched my lips making my stomach flip. "This is wrong." My voice eased in and out of the sentence. "So wrong it's right." He said with a smirk then bit the side of his lip, "you know, I have the biggest urge to kiss you." "Then why don't you?" "Because you're half naked and I might get a little happy." he said holding back his laughter until the end. I lightly slapped his chest, "ewe." I pressed my head against his chest listing to his heart. This was possibly the most calming thing but reality soon snapped back, "how mad is your tour manager going to be?" "Pretty damn mad since we were also late for bus call." "I hope no body else woke up." I groaned thinking of how much we'll get scolded. Alex put me down when we approached the door. He let me go on first and followed after. I stopped when I saw all the guys away and sitting on the couch. All their eyes were on me and Alex.
