Dark Before Dawn

When Price Zuko was promised to become the Fire Lord, he believed that everything would fall into place. However, he was proven to be wrong, and quickly falls into a deep depression once he was crowned Fire Lord. Unable to bring peace to his mind, he battles with himself internally and seeks out what he believes will make him truly happy: his mother. Along the way, he reunites with an ex-lover named Ryn who follows him through his journey.

This story is based on Avatar: The Last Airbender, and is set into the near future. Zuko is aged 21 as well as the OC (Ryn). This story follows part of the graphic novel "The Promise" and mainly "The Search", both written by Bryan Konietzko, Michael Dante DiMartino, Gene Luen Yang and Gurihiru. However, there are major differences in the plot.
