What Happens Under The Sun

Chapter Seventy-four

I decided to intervene and I was intent on going through with it, but before I even got up, I knew I had to come up with some kind of plan. A few ideas buzzed through my head, each one accompanied by it's own possible ending and a million things that could go wrong.

None of the possible outcomes for any of my plans were anywhere near desirable –in most he ended up furious with me- but I decided that he'd eventually get over it-maybe after another night of amazing angry sex- and realize that I only did it for his sake. I mean, that's the reason I was going to go over there in the first place. I knew this girl was no good for him, not because I was jealous or anything like that.

I got up. I'd decided on a plan, I was going with the 'why didn't you call me? how could you just leave me after what we shared?' slightly emotional, scare the other chick off idea. She would leave, not wanting to end up like me and Tom would be saved from himself.

I knew that he'd be mad, but that was something I was willing to deal with.

I walked towards the bar where he was standing with her, being careful to say out of sight of Jessica and Jordan. Something told me it wouldn't be very conducive to my plan if they decided to put their two cents in and –possibly- restrain me.

I approached them, coming up behind Tom. Lights, camera, action.

''Tom! Hey!'' I said, looking right at him.

''Uh hi?'' he seemed unsure of what I was doing.

''It's been like two days, why haven't you called?'' I asked.

''What?'' he replied, flat out confused.

''You said you'd call, I mean how can we just share something like that and then you just disappear? I thought I meant something to you.'' I said, throwing a slight hysteria into my voice.

''What are you talking about?'' Tom asked, looking nervously at the blonde who was looking rather questioningly at me.

''You said I meant something to you, and I suppose you only call girls who don't mean anything to you!'' I said.

''What's she talking about?'' the blonde asked.

''I don't know, she's crazy.'' Tom said, glaring at me.

''Yea, and in two days this will be you he's calling crazy while he scams on his next one night stand.'' I said, trying to sound truly hurt.

''I think I'm going to go.'' The blonde said.

''What? Lisa, don't go.'' Tom said.

''Sorry, I uh, have to meet someone.'' She said and then took off in the other direction without looking back.

''What the hell was that about?'' Tom demanded angrily.

''I was saving you from yourself.'' I shot back.

''What's that supposed to mean?'' he asked.

''She wasn't good for you!'' I told him.

''What?''

''Ugh!'' I threw my arms up in defeat. It was too loud in here to even try and explain myself.

I turned and headed for the rear exit of the club that led out into an empty parking lot that was only used by delivery people. Tom followed.

I pushed the door open furiously and stepped outside. I didn't slow my pace and only realized it was raining when I was about fifteen feet from the door. Perfect.

''What the hell did you do that for Kate?'' Tom demanded, not stopping until he was about five feet from me and noticed the rain.

''She's no good for you.'' I yelled back.

''I was going to get laid!'' he retorted, gesturing behind him towards the club as if the girl was at the door or something.

''She probably has AIDS!'' I snapped.

''Why did you get in the middle Kate? It was going fine until you got there!'' he yelled.

''Because she wasn't right for you!'' I squinted against the rain.

''And you're such an expert on what I want?''

''I think I know you well enough to make that call!'' I replied, still yelling.

''So what if she wasn't right for me? Who gives a shit? I was going to sleep with her not propose to her!'' he said, gesturing angrily as he spoke.

''You should give a shit! What if she was some diseased whore who stole your wallet while you slept?'' I asked angrily.

''Well you know what Kate? Who cares if she did cause she was gorgeous and I could have has a lot of fun tonight!'' he shot.

''Oh shut up Tom!'' It had started to rain a bit harder and both of us were virtually soaked.

''But I guess we'll never know will we? Cause you just had to jump in the middle!''

''Fuck off! She wasn't right for you and you know it!'' I yelled.

''Why do you care so much anyway?'' he demanded.

''Because I fucking love you!'' I screamed and felt my face go from angry to surprised instantaneously.

Tom looked as though he'd been slapped in the face, shocked. The only noise was the sound of the rain until he spoke.

''What?''
