Am I the only one who gets excited during power outages? Granted, most of ours haven't been extensive, only a few days at most. But I like to think of it as an adventure of sorts.
@ n.chalklen Haha, Bucks County, for the win! One of my grandmothers lived on fifth street and ran a daycare and the other lived on Upland Street. I thought it was so cool as a little kid that we lived on a hill.
I'm from the area just outside of Philly (Pottstown) and we used to lose power when we got those really nasty nor'easters. We used to pass the time by watching the clouds through the skylights to see if the weather was improving, and my mom would make household chores (like dusting) into a game. She said we were, and I quote, "hunting dust bunnies." Good times...
@ Careless Whisper. Holy shiiizzlleee! 17.5 days?!! I wouldn't be able to make it a full week with no electricity. Where did you live when Katrina struck?
Great tips. 48 hours? After Katrina, we didn't have power for 17.5 days. Days. That's over two weeks. Each day felt like a week. It was horrible, so I can relate. I mostly read.
@ Sassy Pink Gaskarth Ok that smiley legit made me laught out loud and I was in class when I read your comment! HAHA God I hate it when your neighbors have generators and you can't use it. It's like you just sit there, and it's freezing cold, while your neighbors have heat and electricity and it's nice and warm there........... Thanks so much for your comment, I super appreciate it!
Cleaning is all fun and games until it becomes time to vacuum. Or, when it gets dark out and you're left with nothing to do and can't use one of the lantern things. Sigh.
I think the worst is when most of your neighbors have a generator, yet you don't like them or they don't like you. So you sit there, watching. COLD.
