Mint Pomegranate Sorbet
This is a recipe for a delicious Mint and Pomegranate Sorbet. I got the recipe from Giada at Home. I have slightly changed the ingredients but added it in at the very bottom of the recipe directions if you wish to use it.
Before you begin make sure you have an ice cream maker and whatever you need for it. Some ice cream makers require rock salt to work while others don't.
Prep Time: 5 Minutes
Yield: 1 Quart
- 2 cups 100% Pomegranate Juice (I recommend Pom Wonderful)
- 1 cup Orange juice
- 1 cup Mint Syrup
Mint Syrup Ingredients (makes 1 cup)
- 1 cup fresh Mint Leaves
- 1/2 cup Water
- 1 cup Sugar
Directions for Mint Syrup
Combine the water, sugar, and mint leaves in small sauce pan over medium heat. Bring to boil. Reduce heat and let simmer for five minutes, stirring occasionally until sugar has dissolved. Remove pan from heat and allow to cool for 20 minutes. Strain before using.
Directions for Sorbet
Once syrup has cooled, pour into ice cream maker with the pomegranate juice and orange juice. Freeze in ice cream maker according to manufacturer's directions.
You may add semi-sweet chocolate chips to the sorbet during the last ten minutes of freezing if you wish. I prefer the sorbet with out them.
