Homemade Cinnamon Rolls

Ooey, gooey warmness with a burst of cinnamon and icing. These are a real treat for the lovers of cinnamon rolls. They are time consuming but very worth it.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup of milk
  • ½ cup of sugar
  • 6 tablespoons of margarine
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 eggs (beat in a small bowl)
  • 2 packages of yeast
  • ½ cup of warm water (not hot)
  • 4 ½ cup of flour (more or less)
  • ½ cup of brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons of cinnamon

Directions

  1. Combine the milk, sugar, margarine and salt together and let cool.
  2. Mix yeast with the warm water to dissolve, add cooled milk mixture and eggs.
  3. Add flour to other mixture and knead on floured board.
  4. Place in a greased bowl (suggested greaser: Lard).
  5. Cover bowl with dishtowel or whatever to rise.
  6. When the dough rises to top, punch down and let rise again.
  7. Divide into half and roll on floured board to a flat piece.
  8. Mix the brown sugar and cinnamon.
  9. Cover with melted butter and cinnamon mixture, which consists of cinnamon, sugar, and melted margarine.
  10. Roll up jelly style and cut into individual rolls.
  11. Place into a greased pie dish or any other glass dish.
  12. Cover again and let rise until double.
  13. Bake for about 20 minutes or less in 350 degree oven.

Icing

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of confectioners sugar.
  • 2 tablespoons of softened butter.
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon of milk

​Directions

  1. Mix the confectioner's sugar, butter, and vanilla together.
  2. Adding half the milk to start with, stir in to make a thick glaze, adding just a drop at a time more until you get a nice, thick glaze.
  3. Spread over cooled cinnamon rolls instantly.
