I usually take a break for a few days. After that, something that I found out works for me is to just start writing. I think I don't have ideas or know where I want to go with my story, but I make myself sit down and focus on it for a while and I can be surprisingly productive. Even if my writing in that session feels more labored and I'm not happy with it, usually I can go back to it the next day and revise it and get back into the flow.

I love this! Haha so handy and true. I actually do three of the five methods already, but the digging up and old story, I haven't tried. Maybe I should, when I have to face the horrible wall that is a Writer's Block.

Yes! The digging up an old story thing really works! Work on something old for a while, and suddenly you have inspiration for what you're currently working on. Sure-fire way to test your creativity.

I came here because it's 10 at night, I've been staring at a partially blank computer screen, and my mind feels just as blank as the page. Hopefully sleeping on it will help, and these suggestions are really good, so I'll try a few. Great article! =)

I'm always good at getting out of writers block and most times, I never get it. But this is good. My writers block usually lasts for about a day or sometimes a month. But it's okay, because I always get back to it. But that was a good tutorial because I found that when I know what's going to happen from beginning to end of a story, it's harder for me to get a writers block, because when I do that, I start to formulate the events leading up to the climax/end. Then all the small details come along to help the story. Sometimes things change - usually the small details of a story - but it always has the same plot so it keeps me from having writers block.

    But yes, good tutorial.

Awesome tutorial! When I come down with a case of writer's block, I usually watch a TV show or a movie that relates to what I'm writing. If that doesn't work, I spend time with my friends and family. They give me inspiration with conversations, stories, and different interactions. I got my "Switched at Birth" fanfic idea by watching the show and learning more ASL with my older sister Mr. Green
