Are we sure that it's not the fact that people that aply for these stores just fit. I mean, I would never aply at an old lady store obviously. I would much rather pick the store I usually wear. Most people I see wearing Abercrombie look like the models anyways. I doubt the girl with the hajab even wears abercrombie. Really good article though, i enjoyed it.
Honestly (and no offence to you) this whole Abercrombie thing is getting annoying. Yes, we all know that they have a look policy and discriminate. Rather than give it all this attention, we should just ignore them.
It's a store for christ sakes. Most clothing stores do want people to reflect their image. For example, Urban Outfitters has a bunch of "artsy" people working there decked out in scarves, beanies, and vintage tees. Hot Topic although commonly viewed as nonconformist, does like it when you fit their image: punky-funny hair- i can't walk through a metal detector without removing all of my piercings- alternative teenagers. Heck, even the people at old women's clothing stores like Talbots dress in an old granny appealing way.
Although I find it disgusting that Abercrombie does in deed hire based off of physical appearances, I do find it understandable that they want their staff to represent the stores' style. I don't like the store nor do I fit their image...hence why when i applied for a job there and got an interview, I was rejected despite being decked in all abercrombie that day and having a flawless resume.
well they can't say it's unfair to only hire beautiful people because.. beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And if you don't like what they're doing, don't shop there/don't apply for a job there.
haven't actually been in their stores much enough to judge it {not even the point although it is shown here in the comments anyways on how much it is hated}.
but when you apply for a job, it means you are willing do what the job states you do. it is only discrimination if they made that particular rule up knowing full well that the person could not follow it. but that rule has been around before since and the person should have known that. and not even have bothered to apply.
research is part of the application process.
use it. please, thank you.
However, when young girls walk into these stores they giggle and stare at the 'good looking male workers' but moan and bitch about the female ones.
I can see why the store does it. It is some very good sales tactics.
If that makes sense.
I love Abercrombie clothes, perfume, etc, but I don't agree with their 'beauty policy'. While I don't think everyone is physically beautiful, there are different kinds of beauty and they should be acknowledging it.
This is why i don't shop there.Their clothes are way to expensive. The models are half naked around the stores.Like wtf is that? I only shop at Hot topic.Pac Suns,Spencers and Macys and Forever 21. I never go into Abercrombie. And i never will.
Honestly, I hate that store. I'm more into Hot Topic in the first place, but that store finds the need to suffocate people with overuse of really gross smelling perfume. My dad and I are always holding our breath when we walk by the store..this article just made me dislike it more. Good article.
