This actually makes me not want to see the movie even more. I've seen people come out of watching it looking like they're hypnotized, and now depression? In my opinion, there's clearly something just not right about it. It really worries me.

Only one problem with the article - CNN isn't an "American website dedicated to Avatar". It's a major news channel, as far as I know.

Does anyone else find this as funny as I did? Interesting article; but I think if people are seriously becoming depressed about this movie then they need to get a reality check.

Wow, I didn't think that the movie would mean that much to people. When I watched the movie, I though Pandora was beautiful and I wish it was real, but I wasn't depressed that I couldn't live there. And even when the movie ended, I didn't look at reality as dull.

I also agree with Faris Badwan

That's kind of... scary actually, if I'm honest. That a movie had that affect on so many people.

I haven't seen it because I have no interest in it, but still the whole thing with people being depressed is... odd...

I've realised the same thing.

Not to this length, but when the movie was over, I saw just then that life was shit. We destroy our planet while they are so in tune with theirs. Here I am sitting in a 4$ movie theatre.

Kinda sad.

I didn't think Avatar was that good, so I can't really summon up much sympathy.

It was pretty, though.

Whether they're going suicidal because they can't live on Pandora or complaining about how racist the movie is, people seem to be blowing this movie way out of proportion.
This, of course, is just my humble opinion.

I agree with everyone really.

I too felt a deep emotion of longing for a life like that. But it's not possible to I got over it. What IS possible is to make the best of what we have. A beautiful planet full of beautiful nature just like Pandora (except it doesn't really glow) and just like the Na'vi fought for Pandora we should do something for mother earth; cause we alone are the enemies, not some alien coming to take our food supply.

I loved the movie and thought it was fantastic, and I suppose I was a little sad that that could never happen to me, but it was only my train of thought for a few seconds...

Strange. But good article (: x

I can actually see where this article is coming from. After I watched the movie, I felt a deep sadness that such magic could only exist on the big screen. Real life, for a little while, really did seem dull.

But I'm over it. It's just a movie, and I certainly didn't get depressed by it. I was mesmorized...a little girl again.

When I watched it, I just, I don't know. It didn't make me depressed but I thought I was the only one who felt like they really really really wanted to live on Pandora and be a Na'vi... yes, it is very tempting and I can understand why people get upset about it... I'm not sure about depressed though. I actually just feel really sorry and really bad for the people who are depressed about it.

I had that after I watched Avatar for the first time...It's just so beautiful!
But I had to keep reminding myself that it wasn't real, and that earth was beautiful too. Everyone wants to be what they arent, and to be a strong, spiritual, beautiful creatiure, like the Na'vi, is very tempting to some people.

After seeing Avatar I really, really wished I live on Pandora and that I was a Na'vi, but I am not depressed about it. It kind of makes me mad that it's not real, but I know it's not, so why be depressed?
