Ha! When I saw the commercial for Repo Men, REPO! was the first thing I thought of. And it's true that many plots are the same, but this is just much. Just the idea in general about getting organ repossessions automatically makes me suspsious that they ripped off the genetic opera movie. It's just not the same as another vampire love story. I also have a feeling that Repo Men isn't going to be all that great, but not out of any feelings of rage, just the fact that Hollywood hasn't been turning out much besides $#!* these days.

I do adore REPO! The Genetic Opera, and it's kinda stupid that the plot seems to be stolen. And, yes, Terrance Zdunich is AWESOME.

I Love Repo! The Genetic Opera. Something tells me that Repo Men is going to be pretty lame, though :/

This new movie completely pissed me off. Granted, I'm a new fan, haven gotten hooked on REPO! only two months ago. This shouldn't be happening!

You can't judge until you see it. There may be similarities but I doubt the films are exactly the same.

As asteroid said, concepts may be the same, story may be totally different.
I mean look at Twilight. Your plain, average girl falling for the most mysterious and hard to get guy? Hello, so many other people have done that before. Even in vampire form. Yet the stories were different.

I know... I saw an ad for it on TV and freaked out. I bet no one will go and see the original movie (I wish I could have seen the stage play) and think this is an 'original' plot. I hope the creaters of REPO! will get some sort of compensation unless they already did.

I just read the plots of both. They seem so different. The concept may be the same, but honestly... what is original in this world anyway?

Here's my advice to those who have steam coming from their ears: Don't watch it. Stick to your Opera, and let those who don't like musicals enjoy a different spin.

I TOTALLY AGREE!!! I WAS PISSED when I saw the trailer for Repo Men. I stood up and yelled at the tv the entite time. Then sat down again. Not the point. They stole the idea! They may not have the same characters, but its still the same idea.

And I would also like to say that I did use the wrong word. I did not intentionally call Repo Men a rip off. It was completely unintentional. I will give the movie a shot; the plot looks interesting. I'm just stating my opinion here; nobody HAS to agree with me.

@Careless Whisper: You seem to be missing the point of this article. It's not to tear down Repo Men. I knew about this movie for almost two years. My intentions are to point out the similarities. I understand that this happens all the time. But there is no need to be saying that everyone is making a big deal out of it when I never even said that it was THAT terrible of a thing to be happening.

That's really lame. They can't come up with their own ideas anymore so they make bad remakes and steal the ideas of others? -_-

I know I won't be seeing it, why mess with something that I already love.
Good article [:

People are over reacting here. This is just plain childish.

Sorry. But it is.

Hollywood does this kind of thing all the time. Everyone does. With as many movies that have been made, most every movie is going to be similar to at least one other movie that's out there. They've all been done.

Let's not throw too big of a fit. Won't change anything.

But still the fact remains like Rage said that if you haven't seen Repo Men, why even say its a Rip-off? See the movie, then write the article.

@Indie Stardust

Yeah, you're right. That is irrelevant. Not everyone is a MCR fan, kthxbai.

I'm willing to accept coincidence and such, but frankly, this movie doesn't look half as interesting as Repo! the Genetic Opera. I'm not even talking about the rip-off allegations. The characters are very manufactured, the production is glossy, etc etc. No Amber Sweet, no Graverobber, no diversity. I hate to call it Hollywood, but it is. Hollywoodizing something isn't always a bad thing, but it this case...Maybe if I had never seen Repo!, I would have been more interested in the movie, but if I watch Repo Men now, I'll probably just spend the whole time comparing it to the other movie. Repo! is just more entertaining, in my opinion.

And yes, I'm saying all these things based upon presumptions and the little I've seen from movie trailers, I admit it.

@strange

Bee, I love you, but just because it has Jude Law in it does not make it fantastic. End of. xD

And don't try telling me he's not the reason you're interested, 'cause I know better.
