I tell all my clients about the after affects of washing to much. People just don't listen, and never will.
A girl I used to work with washes her hair maybe 3 times a month.
Stimulation to the scalp will produce more oils. It will also make your hair grow faster, but you have to do it regularly to get this. Massaging your scalp does the same thing.
Oh, and great article. ^.^
It's kind of ironic that I just got my hair done two days ago and that's exactly what my hair stylist told me about shampoo.
You still should wash your hair in water and conditioner. Not washing your hair at all makes your hair greasy. But at the most, you should wash your hair 2-3 times a week with shampoo. Because even if your hair looks good by not washing it with shampoo, there's dirt on your scalp. And that isn't good hygiene.
I thought it was an interesting article.
Addressing Kurtni Monroe's comment, however, I believe you did say that 95% of commercial shampoos contain the chemical. That means most commercial shampoos, not all shampoos. I'm sure people would be able to pick up on those kinds of things...
Interesting.
I think the best thing is not to wash (whether you shampoo or not) your hair every day, and brush it a lot. Brushing makes the natural oils come out.
But that's a really cool article. Well done!
I do agree with you. However I'm a hairstylist and lets face it the majoraity of us colour our hair, which results in fried hair that needs to be repaired. I use shampoos that don't have the sulfates so it doesn't break up the colour and also doesn't damage my hair. I also don't wash my hair everyday. SO bad to do. I wash about twice a week. Drugstore shampoos and conditioners have wax and silicone in them which makes your hair look great but blocks your follicle and makes you loose your hair and helps with the sebum. Scrubing to much does the same thing. The no shampooing ever I think only applies to people who never blowdry, flatiron, colour, highlight, relax, perm, etc..., Everyone else needs some education on shampoo. NEVER drugstore brands. Professional all the way. It's actually cheaper if you know how to use it.
Sounds interesting :)
You've well researched this - well done.
But I don't think I could do this as I am a complete clean freak when it comes to my hair XD
Good idea though!
You failed to mention the fact that not all shampoo's contain the same ingredients and they don't all kill your hair. If your shampoo is damaging your hair chances are you're using a bad one.
Interesting article... there have been alot of articles on the internet saying not to use shampoo and I'd always said I'd try it someday. I like this one especially; it's well researched.
I'm definitely going to have a go next time my hair needs a wash. XD
