Also, I'm okay with the ban personally. Only if it's for security reasons, not out of prejudice.

Firstly, correcting what many people think, no it's not a big part of our religion. Some people choose to wear it and some women who do wear don't even wear it because it's a 'part' of the religion.
The headscarf is, but not the face-cover/burqa. It's just traditional Arab bedioun face-wear. Not Muslim.

I'm on the fence too, I mean it is a big part of their religion but it's hard to identify someone if their face is covered up. I also thought that they're allowed to wear the head-dress as long as it doesn't cover their face, that way it still covers their hair which is the main reason (for most of them) that they do it.

I always wondered whether countries who banned Muslim head-wear also didn't permit Christian nuns either to teach or study in Catholic schools or universities.

that's f*ked up. my sister had to convert in order to marry the guy she is now with. She doesn't wear the headwear, but it offends me cause of my brother-in-law. not to mention my mom's boss and his family. I am COMPLETELY against it.

I'm against it. It's like banning the yamakle. (sp?) It's part of their religion, so it should be protected.

I'm kind of on the fence about this. It's their religion and they're supposed to have the headwear, so if the law is passed they can't really go out since they're not supposed to show their hair and the like. But at the same time, the identification thing is a good point. No one can identify a woman with headwear if she chooses to commit a crime with it on.

So I'm not really sure what to think :/
