I didn't actually read it to find out, so I guess they either stole my plot or they were just coincidentally similar.

I would if I were you. Maybe you'll have the luck I never had in getting admin to actually do something about it.

Yeah. It was just funny to me because those specific lyrics I thought up were pretty unique or so I thought at the time. Like I only had the story page up for a few days with banner and everything. Only recommended the page once too. However mine didn't have a summary yet so she never knew the plot to mine. Hers is entirely different so if anything she may have took the title idea. But I guess it could be a simple title to make up. A fluke perhaps. I'm gonna go look for that teacher student fic that was more than likely copied from mine though.

Not two months later she has a story titled that lol. I doubt she ever saw mine so it's like me and her have the same ideals without even trying lol.
Sounds like she did if it was exact. Don't feel just because you think someone is "more popular" that they're automatically not going to take ideas from others. I know a fair few "big" names on here who constantly do it.

Hmm maybe you should still post but change it some way enough ya know ? If it's based off a movie to start with then that should be fair game as long as you add your personal touch to it. Mr. Green

Yeah! I totally feel you on this. When I'm working hard on a story, I kind of won't read stories on here so I won't seem like a copy cat. There's one author on here who must be zoning in on my brain waves because in one of her stories there's a blow job scene while the guy's asleep. I had the same idea but just hadn't written it yet but she had. My scene is a lot different but she 's way more popular than me on here sooooo I've been weary about posting. Then I put together a title for a story from combined song lyrics. I posted the story page but lost inspiration and took it down. Not two months later she has a story titled that lol. I doubt she ever saw mine so it's like me and her have the same ideals without even trying lol.

This recently happened to me -____- started writing this Loki fanfic and found one already posted that's kind of similar. There's had an OC and mine had an existing characters that takes place during the second movie. Kind of really bummed me out after I put a lot of effort into writing the first couple chapters and made a banner and everything :/ not sure if I should post it.

This has happened to me quite a few times and, not gonna lie, it's one of the reasons that I stopped reading so much fan fiction. I didn't want to be influenced by other people's works; I wanted my ideas to be as original as I could get them. Of course, I still managed to be similar to other people.

Luckily, I've never been accused of stealing another person's plot. I have, however, seen other people accused of stealing mine - but whether it was deliberate or not, we may never know.

Yeah. It is sad. Was their story copied word for word or just took the basic plot of yours?

Yeah lol. I feel ya. Sometimes people just come up with similar ideas and then some people just steal. There's a fine line there it seems. I'm so tired too lol. I'm about to take a nap.

I found a story called IF WE EVER MEET AGAIN just like mine, about Synyster Gates etc. I recognized the avatar it had and so on, remembered that it didn't have that title before I started mine. However it was started before mine, it was the same people (besides my oc) and a similar concept, but the fact that the name was suddenly the same as mine was like wtf. Haha, but I wasn't bothered after a while, mine was regularly being updated, hers wasn't, so it worked out. If they would've thought I had stolen it, idk what I'd done.. lol. I don't give a crap if ppl steals mine, indirectly, I mean not word by word obviously, just means that my ideas are awesome. <-lol. but i'd be pissed if it was really copied where you could actually confuse the stories to the point where you didn't know which was which. omfg, hopefully you understood all that.. im so tired Twitch haha

Yeah, I worry about that when I post anything on here. I don't wanna get accused of stealing someone's stuff.

I feel like that sometimes. Theres a similiar story to Fight or Flight that I found, but it's not the same exact plot. It's just the basic plot that is similiar. I also feel that way when I read stories with the same character names as mine. Sometimes I'm like 'ugh someone took the name' and then I feel like I have to change my character's names so no one thinks I stole it from them.

I honestly don't blame you for feeling that way. I couldn't imagine what that must be like. Another example is kidnap stories. They all are going to share a similar plot since kidnapping consists of abducting someone. You just have to make it different. Ugh I gotta go to work. I'll finish this later.

There's no way you can't be 100% original anymore but what makes it different is each person's writing style. I wouldn't mind if someone used one of my ideas for their stories, it's not like the copied the whole story as I had written it - it's just the idea.

I wrote a story a couple years ago in the A7X fanfiction category and I came across a Jonas Brothers fanfiction that had the exact same plot as mine, but I didn't think I could do anything about it. I wasn't sure if they were just coincidental or if it was plagiarism or what, but since they were different fandoms, I wasn't sure. It's hard now to make an original story without making your characters purple aliens from the planet Crouton and not have any similarities to any stories, which is sad.

There's similar, and there's obvious and blatant copying. For instance, if I wrote a A7X vampire story and then you did one too, only the base plot would be similar because we have completely different writing styles and think completely differently. When, however, the writing style is emulated, therein lies the problem. I'm sick of having my identity ripped off by people who can't think for themselves. I try damned hard to come up with work that I know for a fact hasn't been done before(much, if at all.) So when I "start" something, and then all of a sudden it's everywhere and they're using my style, not just my ideas, it's a slap in the face and one of the reasons I don't trust the people in this fandom with my work anymore.

Yeah. It sucks because you start to think about changing your original story idea just so you aren't pegged as a thief. At least in my situation at the moment. Someone a different time did a story similar to the one I posted first but I still haven't said anything. I forgot the name of it.
