This is so true and thank you for reminding me what writing is about...
I feel confident enough to write for myself. I forgot to remind myself that I write to make myself smile, and if someone else smiles I should be grateful even if it's just one person. It's not about how many readers we get, it's about us 'young writers' to go out and express our ideas of creativity and imagination...THANK YOU SO FUCKING MUCH!

Wow, this was very well written. Lately I don't bother going on Mibba because of either the silence or the fact that people are complaing about the silence. It's like people would much rather write about how Mibba is not as active than actually do something about it. And that annoys me. So thank you for writing this. I hope everyone in the Mibba community sees this and then applies it. I know I will.
So if you'll excuse me, I have a story to update. Wink

That's not the only reason. :)

I usually just ignore all the mess lol. I've been on here for like seven years, and I just don't have the time like I use to when I was younger. That's the sucky part.

Don't let it make you stay away! You should come here and do you and find people who share your views and appreciate all the wonderful things Mibna has to offer Hug

I'm so in and out of this website, I don't get clued in until way after the fact.

    I agree with you though.

I might get a little annoyed and aggravated about blog emails or story emails, but I'm always nice and I always say thank you even though I may not agree with everything. I deal with enough cranky people in my eight hour work day, I do not want to come onto something I enjoy and see all the madness. It makes me want to stay away even longer.

yeah, I definitely understand what you're saying and I agree with you. a lot of the time self proclaimed "SJWs" (especially if white) kind of talk over the minorities at hand and that's problematic in itself. I mean I've written about a lot of trigger-y topics and often went back and forth on whether I should even include them at all because I was scared I'd portray them wrong. I think the best way to deal with them is to just handle them carefully because you never know what your readers may have experienced and you don't want to trivialize that, y'know? but at the same time, don't hold yourself back. in the case of touching a potentially sensitive subject, it's a fine line but there definitely is a balance between expressing yourself through your writing and being respectful. a lot of writers (not just on here, but everywhere) don't understand that and want to do things THEIR way without thinking of how it might influence or affect people negatively.

(I hope this makes sense haha)

I totally get that! But from what I've observed here it seems to cause problems because of the fact that this umbrella of political correctness encompasses so, so, so many things that generally aren't offensive except they've been made issues by people outside groups in question - and it prevents people from expressing themselves. If that makes sense. Like there are more people fighting about political correctness and accusing others of not being PC then there are that actually know what it means and all that. Misconceptions of the whole thing that make being pc really hard and problematic. I've talked to many people from different groups where the issue is concerned and have generally heard that they have no issue with whatever issue is at hand and white SJW's from the Internet created an issue haha That bit probably made the least sense so I may omit it. I'm totally up for conversation in PM about it! Mr. Green

I agree with basically everything you said except the part about political correctness. that is a problem bigger than mibba, bigger than even the entire world's writing community, and it is so, so, absolutely important, but I won't get into it here because it's usually not even worth it and I don't want to butt heads with anyone.

I actually think that it has gotten better in some ways. I remember people were really mad about the changes maybe a year ago. When they were banning people seemingly out of nowhere. But a lot of people have gotten used to the rules and have begun to adjust and realize that New Mibba isn't THAT bad. And I think we can always improve things. I like to believe that Mibba will become exciting again. We just might have to work together to make sure of it.

But I totally understand what you mean about the comments and things blowing up. It's kinda sad seeing people that I had respect for and that I thought of Mibba Royalty in a way giving up and leaving.

It's seriously a problem. It's like that happens and then there's this hostility to the people that get comments on comments on comments, which eventually snowballs. Or at least that's how it presents itself. Hug

    @ castiel's vessel
Exactly. Sometimes even I struggle with that. But since I'm writing a story that doesn't have a layout and writing a trailer, I've just been working on it. And the idea of posting it bit by bit after it's finished - which it probably won't be since I've already been waiting a few days - and getting comments after I'm already done anyways, that has kept me writing this last few days. I might try doing it that way and posting after. Hug

    @ southpaw
Of course. I feel like also, there's this issue with creative freedom though. Because it goes for everything. Comments, forums, blogs. I feel like sometimes there is content that gets through that can be detrimental to the passion of people here if they see it. People being here and writing for comments or sticking around to make an issue out of existing problems are starting to make the site feel unwelcoming. Hug

    @ iggy.
I won't object to an "omg update" because at least I know, then, that someone is really, really excited about an update! If they don't have much to say, that's totally fine with me. I just think that there are so many people here that are making issues about the changes and the way people have left because they aren't content with their own writing. I also miss how many comments went through because when new members joined, it was like a welcoming parade which was nice. Websites change though, and I feel like all the negative energy from those unwilling to accept that is building up and blowing up. And again, I've only been back for little over a week maybe. In Love

An award would be nice... But no, I thought I was friends with all the moderators and admins, but I guess after my little hiatus they deleted me. In trying to re-add them, I noticed a few of them had recommended this, and if any of them comment, that will feel like an award enough! This easily has 10 recommendations. Probably more than any of my stories haha I wish there was a tab that showed how many on blogs too. Arms

AMEN. THIS, THOSE SO MUCH. THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS.

I almost told the mod who fixed my blog title the other day thank you. A year ago I probably would have been pissed. But I appreciate what they do for this site. And I am aware that I am still learning. Sometimes I am not even sure of my capitalization usage in the title.

But this is so true. It took me years to realize that writing will only mean anything if you write for yourself. Because that is how you grow and learn as a writer. If you write for others, all you learn is what other people like. And that makes it nearly impossible to find what you like as your own person.

Oh my gosh. I am typing this in a library on my laptop. And the keys are so loud. I'm sorry, people of the library. So sorry.

But I love that you posted this. And I'm pretty sure the people who write for others will deny it over and over again. And they are going to act like this blog doesn't include them. But I have seen more and more people lately, mostly the seniors of Mibba (I'm less than three months away from my Five Year Mibbaversary? Can you believe that? Sorry, random, just so excited.), that are learning to write for themselves. A lot of us have accepted that Mibba isn't the old Mibba where people left comments everywhere. Mibba has grown. People have left, there are some new faces as well. Things have changed. And a lot of us are accepting that now. And things can only get better.

And I'd rather have thoughtful comments and critiques than "OMG UPDATE!!!!!!!" like the past. Just sayin'.

Hell yes. There's so much creative freedom here when it comes to our work, and I've always been amazed at the sheer amount of content that people come up with. It's nice to get feedback on something you spent time on, but at the end of the day, the question is whether or not you're happy with the art you're making. If you are, then it's all worthwhile. ("You" in a general sense, of course.) Kicking
