I can't stand any kind of pop, rap, hip-hop, R&B... basically any popular music that makes little teenbopper girls swoon and cry like babies. (This is why I'm much more into metal.)

    ^ I'm the opposite, actually. I love 1D, and pop/rap/hip-hop/rnb.

I dislike metal. And screamo. And hardcore country.

I wouldn't necessarily use the word hate when it comes to a particular genre of music because I always try to be respectful of other people and what they like and whatnot but there are actually a lot of genres that I just don't bother with. I dislike screamo to an extreme and I could never get into country. I CANNOT STAND anything on the radio airwaves nowadays. NO MAINSTREAM. If it's getting played 50 times a day, I probably don't like it.

But with music, you either feel it or you don't, y'know? I don't feel any of that kind of music at all. It doesn't really bother me too much, though, because if I don't like it, I don't listen to it. It's as easy as that and so I'm always surrounded by the music that I DO like instead of the music that I don't.

Country and pop, there's no originality when it comes to the instrumentals in the songs. It makes me feel like I'm listening to one continuous song; it's annoying. Ranting

As previously stated metal and 'screamo' is an acquired taste but if you listen to it like I do you begin to understand the lyrics and most of the time they're very meaningful. Not trying to be rude, but you can always look up the lyrics if you're having that much of a hard time understanding.

If I'm going to look up the lyrics, I might as well just read poetry. That's my opinion. I don't really have a desire to listen to music I can't understand just to go read the lyrics later.

Understandable I guess; but there is meaning behind almost every song that 'screamo'/ metal bands put out and sometimes it's worth reading the poem a few times to understand it's meaning.

I would agree if I got any sort of pleasure from listening to the music.

I really don't like rap music. Many rap lyrics are just very disrespectful towards and are almost misogynistic. It just really turns me off to hear such disrespect towards the female gender in the songs that have overtaken that genre. I'm also not much of a fan of screamo, the songs really give me headaches whenever I try to listen to screamo.

I'm not a fan of dubstep either, personally. It's just..annoying and repetitive to me >_<

What music isn't repetitive, though? Repetition is part of the nature of music.

Jazz. I hate jazz. (A large part of why I disliked 'The Princess and the Frog'.)

    ---

Since I don't listen to the radio very often, I have a bad idea of what "mainstream" is.
