I'm doing A Level English Literature, and we have to use a book as a stimulus text for a short story.
All the authors I chosen have been denied by the board. Anne Rice, Richard Laymon, Dean Koontz, Stephen King, James Herbert, and other authors along those lines.
They were denied because they aren't 'challenging' enough and aren't 'real literature'.
So I need to find a book, that has the same themes and styles as the ones above. Like, horror/fantasy/thriller types.
But they need to be more, classic literature. I was wondering if anyone knew of any books I could use.
I was thinking Kidnapped. That's the only kind of, interesting book I can think of currently. Suggestions?
Sorry for the long winded post.
