I've been raised to k now that education is VERY important.
If you dunno whats going on in your country, you better start learning, because once you start voting, you gotta know or you'll misunderstand and thats never cool.
if you wanted to drop out, at least get a GED, which is like a HS diploma, just passing a test. That qualifies and all....
But then, what else would you do with your time? sleep with people? waste away your life in your mothers house or in debt, playing video games and eating takeout until it kills you?

Just have to think: what do you want to do in ten years?
Spend your life wisely. Not saying it can't be fun. I have a blast all the time. But it's not like I'm going to waste my time around drug addicts or anyone else who can't really do much...

Just because you drop out doesn't make you a drug addict, a whore, or any of those other things you listed. I dropped out because I needed to help my mom out who is a single mother of 3, has 2 jobs, and doesn't get any child support from my dad. Think about the big picture before you say things like that.

My mom has been considering pulling me out of school - lets face it, I'll be over twenty three once I graduate high school. I don't have the motivation to continue and I'm failing this year. I'm homeschooled, not that that's bad, and I can't go to a regular school because of money issues. If she does pull me out, I'll work on getting my GED. I don't have the dream of becoming a doctor or anything, so, me sitting in school is basically waisting my life and I'm almost eighteen anyway.

I can't get a job eigther until I'm out of school. :file:

My parents always used to say that completing high school gave you a future, and expected me to finish. But I think as I got older they realised that wasn't going to happen.

Right now, they don't care what I do, as long as I'm not bumming around in their house all day and trying to get money from them. Basically my mum was like "Get a job, or go back to school".

I know heaps of people who have dropped out, and others who finished high school then to realize that the jobs they can get aren't any better than ones they could have got 2 years earlier. It all depends on if you have a plan, and where school fits into that plan.

I've actually considered dropping out of school.
I'm only in middle school, and I have the rest of highschool to see what'll happen.
But, I just can't stand school. People say crap about me, and people don't know when to shup up most of the time.
But, due to the importance of getting a job, I might stay in school.

There have been some points where I was just like "I'm leaving school next year!"
But every time I though about it it seemes stupid
What would I amount to if I dropped out of school, I'm not athlete, I can't play an instrument!
The only thing I'm good at is, school, I know it sucks right?? Yeah
So I don't think I'd ever drop out of school, i need an education, i don't want to go through life being stupid.

I dropped out of college. Not because I couldn't be bothered with it but because I wasn't happy there. If you're not happy in something you are doing, then why do it?

So now I am moving on to something I love and can't wait to do. Trust me, dropping out wasn't easy. It's a lot harder than people think. The amount of lectures you get from people. I've had the lot, especially from my dad's side of the family calling me stupid.

How am I stupid?! Okay, I dropped out but doing English Lit and History wasn't what I wanted to do. It wasn't for me and if I am stupid for leaving something I didn't like then...whatever. At least I have got up from my seat and made arrangments to start college again.

Dropping out is all up to the person, it's not anyone else's decision. It's their life and if it's what they want to do then I say; let them do it!

I graduate sunday and I've hated school since the sixth grade. My mom tried everything to make want to enjoy school and do the homework. Things got very stressful in highschoo and I was absent a lot [not too the point of truency] but I was absent. I think during my last 2 months of school, every week I missed one day!
I seriously considered dropping out but never did because even though college is not on my mind right now I'll have a better chance of getting through life with a High School diploma.

I just kept telling myself 'Do you wanrt to spend the rest of your life asking "Would you like that in the meal or just the sandwhich?"

I'm leaving at the end of this semester.
    It's because.
    a) I hate school.
    b) I hate school.
    c) I see no point in wasting two more years, if I'm just going to do the same thing, either way.

I can relate, I'm done with school now, I graduated but people are berating me for not wanting to go to college and the way I see it, college is four years of things you have already learned unless you're going into a specific career requiring college. I don't need any fancy degree to say I'm a writer.
I have a plan for my life, college is a no, I'm just glad I never have too go back to high school again!
    I never thought I'd graduate...

Haha, yeah. Well, I can do courses at TAFE or whatever for creative writing, if I want, but really, I don't need to do one to know how to string a sentence together and use my imagination.

The dropout rate in my school is like 1.5%. If you drop out it's probably the most embarrassing thing ever. Personally I would never drop out. I want to do something with my life.

I think especially now with the crap economy it's really important to have an education to fall back on. Dropping out is ridiculous even if you have every single step of your life outlined and are 110% sure of what you're doing. It's a cutthroat job market. If you don't have an education, you won't get a job. That's what I think.

My mom is demanding me to go to college, she said she would drag me there if it comes to that. I honestly don't mind going to college I'm just worried I'll fail out because I get lazy really easily.

I really want to, but I think I am going to be foreced into college or uni. I have no desire to continue. I want to just hitch hike through Europe (as cheesy as that sounds.)

First of all, nobody would ever let me. My parents are highly educated and so is the rest of my family. I have thought about it briefly at times when a teacher is fucking with my life, but it's just an empty threat, because I know I'm a pussy when it comes to stuff like that, plus I really do want to graduate and go to college and everything.

I DO however want to drop out of IB school and go to a regular high school, because it's being a pain in my ass. Seriously I don't think I'll survive until Senior year and that's only two more years. Sad, I know, but I can't stand the amounts of work anymore! Also getting bad grades just make me feel bad about myself and I go into those really depressed moods where I just sit there and cry all day. Yeah, issues.

To sum it up, I would never seriously consider dropping out of school completely, but I am strongly considering dropping out of IB. Major fail, but at least I can admit that I can't handle it and not go through the whole process and fail at the end making everything worthless.

I hate school. Like I hate it so much, I wish for college everyday.
But I still go, and I still do homework, and I still study because I know one day all of my work will be paid off.
    Well, it better.
And I really want to get into a great college, so dropping out would not help me at all. It'd be the worst thing to do.

I think if I didn't want to make my mom proud, I would've dropped out long ago.

I dropped out of school when I was about 11 (I went occasionally after that but realistically, that was the last time I went to school regularly). I was officially off the register when I was 13.

I dropped out because if I'd stayed there, the place would've killed me. I don't recommend it, obviously, but in my situation and in retrospect there really wasn't another option at the time.

I nearly did, because I was being bullied in year 13 (which for me was Sept 08-June 09).
But then my psych teacher was like "Noes! You can survive a few more months longer!" and made me come back, which I'm kind of glad that she did.
