I want to know what people think of Ghosts. Do you believe in them? Why or why not? Why they come back? Why are there different types of hauntings?

I do believe in ghosts. And also the different forms they appear in. My house is actually sort of haunted so I know I can't sometimes use reason for what happens. I think some of them come back though in order to maybe be remembered by people, or their lonely, they need help, or they can't cross over because their scared, trapped, etc.

I don't really know why there are different types of ghosts though. Maybe thats the only way they found out of communicating to people, or because they want to cause chaos with the people living in the place that is in a way 'intruding' their territory if they had once lived in the area.

I've done my research which is why I sound so smart. lol :)

Maybe if you changed the topic, like the scientific research going on. The pros and cons... things like that.
I think that might work better.

They're scientifically testing it (Parapsychology) so I suppose they would be.

I believe in ghosts. I agree with Blood_Raven. Some hauntings are the way they are because either the ghosts are just mean... or they are trying to communicate with someone. I don't know. But I believe.

I believe in ghosts/spirits/entities. There are bad "things" in this world that can't be explained by science or religion. I believe that the dead can walk among the living. But then again, we think what we want to think. So I'm not really sure.

I don't believe in ghosts, but I believe that people's presences can be felt in certain places. Just not in the form of a spectre or anything.

    I'm still not sure either.

I went on 2 of the ghost tours in Edinburgh and didn't see one. The guides had so many stories about what had happened down there (they're underground, if you didn't know), but nothing happened while I was down there, so as far as I know they could be making it up.

Ghosts make little sense to me.
If souls can haunt the Earth after they die, why don't they do it before they're born too?

^I guess that depends on what you believe a soul is and how it's created.

    -

One of the ghost tours I was on was about how the ghosts could manifest themselves and the kinds of things they can do, and it has made me think about it a lot.

There is energy in our bodies, whether you believe in a soul or not, there's still the energy our bodies use to function, and we know energy can't be destroyed, so where does it go? It could be absorbed into the walls, or just float around in the air, and some people can feel that extra energy buzzing around, which could explain why some people faint or get the shivers etc (though it could be entirely psychological). The more people who died in once place (like the vaults beneath Edinburgh), the more energy there is, the more "haunted" the place becomes.

However, I don't see how this energy could mould itself into the shape of the person it was contained within before that person died, and certainly not how it could be wearing their clothes.

Also, the more sudden the death, the more likely there is to be a "presence" because the person would have had more energy inside them than those who died slowly.

I'm just wondering if the people who faint, get shivers etc in "haunted" places are the same people who don't like hospitals?

I believe in things like the Holy Ghost, demons, Satan, angels, and having a spirit inside of you. But I don't think they roam around haunting you and such. Unless they are demons.. hehe

I don't believe in anything of the sort. Alright I'll admit you can only find out by dying but still, there is evidence that people die and don't come back. Why should they? what are they coming back for? a person? a hope? a last thing to do?

It makes no sense, and I don't want to seem close minded but still, there just no evidence.

^I agree that that scenario doesn't make sense, but the whole energy thing that I explained in my last post does.

Everyone seems to automatically think of transparent figures when ghosts are mentioned. A ghost is just a trace that's left behind.

I'm open to the possiblity of ghosts. I've never seen one or anything, but my dad says he has. My dad's very erm, conservative and probably wouldn't joke about these things so I'm inclined to believe him. It probably seems ridiculous but hey, who am I to question?
