I find that as much as I want to believe in a God there is little proof. My mother is a strong believer in God. But whenever I try to talk about what proof there is that God is real she gets upset. If anything this just make me think that there is none. So i bring this question to mibba,What proof is there that God is real?

You're not supposed to need proof to believe in God. You're supposed to have faith in the abscence of proof - maybe believing in something no one can prove makes you worthy of going to Heaven or something.

At least, that's what I thought.

Hey Dani, don't sign the end of your posts with your name, it counts as spam and is against the board rules.

As for God, well, the entire point is that you don't know he exists. You have faith while you're living and then spend eternity in the light of his love.

Personally, I think that's a load of crap, but it's why your mother doesn't like talking about proof in god. There is no proof that you can see, she just has faith that he's there and watching over her and everyone else.

If you want to believe in god, just accept it. There's no harm in believing in something that doesn't exist, unless you're obsessive/over the top about it. If it's all just a story, well, you'll never know.

Although the amount of people who have claimed to "see" God is quite astounding to me. I've heard so many Christians tell me they absolutely know God exists because they've seen him or felt him or he's answered their prayers etc. etc.

I believe this quote should go here...oh Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy :tehe:

The argument goes something like this: "I refuse to prove that I exist," says God, "for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing."
"But," says Man, "the Babel fish is a dead giveaway isn't it? It could not have evolved by chance. It proves you exist, and so therefore, by your own arguments, you don't. QED"
"Oh dear," says God, "I hadn't thought of that," and promptly vanishes in a puff of logic.

As for your question on proof, to be honest I don't find any proof either. I'd like to believe that humans are the true ulitmate beings in the universe, thus found. Apprarently religion is supposed to be based solely of faith, even though most people try to argue that there is proof that Gd exists, I have yet to see it. Everything they put forward as evidence is easily explainable with science as I see it.

I do know He exists. Whether people doubt me I do not care.
I've felt Him on so many occasions, I see His miracles everyday, and our whole Earth is filled with His glory.

I find this statement funny, no offence intended, because I've felt an absence of a god on so many occasions in my life...

When and where God should intervene is obviously not our decision to make because we don't have His omniscience.

^ But would he never make his presence known to a person? With all these Christians running around talking about how they talk to God and feel his presence, you'd think that he'd pass it around so everyone could know...

You can't expect Him to do everything for you. You've got to figure out things by yourself. This is where faith comes in. Have faith that God will take care of you and that He is watching over you. Sure, you don't see Him, and you don't really know what's going to happen to you. But He does, and you're just gonna have to trust that.

It's always the hardest to have faith in something that you're not even sure is really there, but that's where the strength of love for Him and the strength of love He has for us goes. Just have faith.

Trust me, I've also felt abandoned in my life, but that doesn't mean you should give up already. Just keep on believing.

So, what did it feel like then?

See, to me I'm a little skeptical on this. I think that sometimes people just want to believe so badly that God is real that they imagine they can 'feel' his presence; that they can 'see' him. The mind is quite powerful, and I think it's quite easy to tell yourself it was him when it mightn't be.

Only you know what you felt / saw, and I just know that you'd completely disagree with me. But that is just what I think of it.

Faith. That's how. You just know. Especially when you've been learning about Catholic Doctrine for your whole life.

I don't really know either how that person felt Him, but I know how she sees His miracles everyday.

Every morning you wake up to is a miracle. Because, really, how do you know when you're gonna die? You don't.

I think as for the whole 'feeling' God, I think it's just this feeling you get when you're really just thinking, and talking to God and praying to Him.

    God is real.
There's proof all around us, even if scientists can explain how everything was made, it doesn't erase the fact that God caused it to happen.
The Earth, the galaxy, the moon, etc.

And, no one has ever seen God and lived. They can feel him, and talk to him, but you can't see him.

I think that if you actually believe, and want to feel his presence, it will happen.

And once you have been in his presence, you'll know. No questions asked.

Well, that's my take on it.

But by the same token, I believe that there was once a polkadott spoon which sat on my desk whilst I was out one night, and it was put there and taken away by a bird. No one saw it happen, but no one saw that it didn't happen, and I really, truly believe. Let's say I felt the spoon's presence, or had a vision when I was out and it was going on?

Is this enough to prove that the spoon existed and was there on my desk?

It annoys whenever someone says "God meant for this to happen", "If god wanted it to happen." God has nothing to do with the choices you make in life.

I would like some hard core proof.

That sounds like you have faith God is real. Saying that God caused everything to happen doesn't make God real.
