It really bugs me when the main character (especially in Harry Potter fics) seems to be related in one way or another to EVERYONE. Or they end up related to everyone or are just "awesome." That everyone wants to be them, and they always save the day. My first fic started going in this direction, but I deleted it because I couldn't go anywhere with it. And since, I try to avoid it as much as possible X.x

I hate it when people write about those stupid internet famous scene kids. Like, they don't even write about them, they just use their pictures because they think they are 'beautiful' when in reality, i've never even met one of those 'scene kids'.

I hate it when like, some scene kid is related to like, Zacky Vengeance. No

I find the mary-sue's annoying. I don't think anyone is that perfect in real life.
I don't really like the tough, bitchy girls either. It just makes me not want to
    read the story.

I have two big cliches that really bug me:
    1. The ultra-perfect Mary Sue who has an amazing personality, no flaws, and is gorgeous. (I try to avoid this in my recent writing, but when I was starting out I fell victim to the cliche).
    2. The emo kid that: cuts, is abused, is raped, is a loner, hates their parents, etc. Especially when it's all of these things rolled into one person, which everyone just happens to secretly adore.

When it comes down to Harry Potter fanfictions, I hate when the girl is best friends with everyone, even the Slytherins.

The person who is a loner, but then the most popular guy in school falls for her, and now everybody likes her.
The girl who is popular, but is a bitch. This bugs me the most, I mean why can't the most popular girl be nice at the same time? It's fallen under the influence of bad teenage comedies.

The popular girl that appears in so many stories, and she's always the antagonist, and she always has no depth to her at all. She's always a bitch and it's as if she's not human and doesn't have a side that has feelings and a brain.
Same thing with the cliche, brainless jock who beats up the main character, who always seems to be an emo kid who has such a 'shitty life' that's so generic and overused.

I hate it when stories that revolve around a high school always have cliques. Not every high school is like that. I never went to any school in my life that had cliques.

I get that some schools do, but for once can someone write a story about one that's not?

Synyster Gates in most fan fictions.
Usually he's cocky and a dick, purely because he's a rockstar.
I read one the other day that actually has depth behind why he's an absolute tosser.
Whether or not I agree with the reasoning is a different story, but the fact that there was a reason - I mean, I like that.

Female characters who aren't funny at all, bitchy, and who get really angry and 'storm out to their backyard for a cigarette & to put on their iPod and find solace in an MCR song.'
    Come on.

The characters that are/have always been perfect.
The ones whose lives suck all of the time.
And the one's who are always snotty.
    Shifty

    Ugh!

Main character's who hate the color pink because it's "girly". Scene/Emo girls that have jobs at 'Hot Topic' and have a hot, emo, male, bff..
Just about everything else everyone has mentioned.

BTW, I love the color pink. O.o

Scene girls who are absolutely perfect, altruistic people that have been abused continuously and somehow are still the most popular girl in school who manages to maintain all A* and is the best person ever. But in their room they cut all the time.

I can deal with snotty/bitchy girls because at least they could be a little more realistic (albeit while being very 2D sometimes) but the above just annoys me because no one would ever be like that.

    Girls.
I'm not saying that there's no such thing as a well-written female character, but overall that's the type of character that annoys me the most.

I don't know if it's been said before but, characters who are so unselfish. I mean, really people aren't like that normally.

My big thing that I have a problem with in published books and fanfiction and original fiction is protagonists with little unique personality. I not sure why, but there's something about a good majority of main characters that make me see them as bland. I love a main character with a big realistic personality.

I also hate the female character who's always sweet and nice. They sometimes come off as spineless to me.

Maybe I'm just weird and like jerks, but characters that are too normal or too nice bother me. :|

^ Perfection is annoying to read about.

Characters who are horrible all the time to everyone for no apparent reason; not sarcastic just horrible.
