It's kind of sad to think that if some of these characters were just written well, they wouldn't annoy you. I mean, an example a few posts up was a too-nice character. If one of their flaws was that they were spineless and couldn't say no to people, then ta da. You have a character that, while in real life may annoy the living afdeak out of you, you'd probably appreciate them more in stories because you know that's a realistic trait and it happens with real people.
Same with Bella and Edward Cullen. If Edward's slight creepy-stalker-ness was embraced, people would be ALL over him because he would be rather unconventional and interesting. The problem with Edward was that the author did not want to embrace his flaws and tried to pass him off as perfection.
So a character with so much potential that isn't allowed off the scope of their three word summary annoys me. Someone that's limited to "bitchy and mean" or "sweet and funny".
