Either way, I really don't find it a fair system. It's usually a popularity concept, anyways. And I think that's the last thing Mibba needs.
To start, it's not really a system. It's just something that happens. If a lot of people notice someone I don't think it's fair to say it's wrong. You can't help noticing someone and you can't help if people notice you.

Maybe "system" wasn't the right word, but I still stand by what I said. I don't really see the point in dubbing someone "Mibba Famous". I really don't. There are people that I look up to, yes. But I wouldn't call them "Mibba Famous". That's just my opinion.

People are considered famous when they right good stories or just have a pretty theme. Usually there are famous people in certain parts of forums are story genres.

I'm not sure just how much my opinion counts since I'm still getting used to the forums, but I think that the "famous" ones are the ones that are mentioned/seen a lot. It's not just about writing and posting, it's about contributing often on mibba.

Whether their stories are the ones that are read the most often, or they write articles, make their own topics in the forums or post a lot in existing ones, being active is what really helps them become popular.

Oddly enough, I agree with both druscilla is alice. and asphyxiate. ^_^ It is something that just happens, but it sucks that it does. It's kinda bad for everyone else because it's like we're being compared to them.

"Yeah, your story's okay, but so-and-so's story was the best!"...And then they'd go off and give examples as to why they're the best, while everyone else on the thread joins in. It's belittling, or at least it is to me. I'm sure they deserve all the praise, but I still can't help my reaction Sorry Does that happen often here though? Or is it just in Quizilla, for anyone that's familiar with it? (I was with Quizilla since 2005 so I've seen my fair share of "praise" )

Sorry, that was a little off topic

I think we all know who is Mibba famous, no one really knows why. These people are just well known.
There's heirachy's everywhere in life, people like to look up to others.

Am I the only one who thinks that the "real" mibba famous are the ones that are famous all over the site, and not just General or the story boards etc?
'Cause otherwise; Do you guys mean that we have like shitloads of famous people that not so many know about?

Nope, I was thinking the same thing. It's the names you see and hear all the time, not just the content they write.

I would say that the 'Mibba Famous' are those that a very large percentage of the Mibba population know of/have heard of, not just in one section or expertise, but all over the site. Not just the discussion forums or the writing or the General, but across the boards.

As in, no matter what you do or where you spend all of your time, you've heard of them, even if they don't do what you do or spend their time where you do.

In everything there is going to be a heirachy. It's only natural that the more experienced users are going to know more about the site and have contact with more people. So basically there's no point in trying to fight the system. There will always be 'the famous'.

People I consider Mibba famous and just users I've heard of in their specific areas. There are different 'Mibba famous' for different Mibba mediums (journals, articles, stories, forums, debates etc).

Then don't call them that. No one will make you.
But I'll use that word and i won't be put off using it because someone else thinks it's a popularity contest.
Big woop-de-doo. In the real world, you can't get mad because someone is well known. Actually, i suppose you could but it probably wouldn't do much good.

I've never seen that happen where someone says "so and so's was better than yours". The most I've ever seen is where someone says "this is similar to so-and-so's writing".

Most people who would give a good comment understand how to give one on a story and that doesn't include berating an author in comparing them to another. And most people who don't leave good comments just say "more" or "it was good", so...

I dislike how sometimes the term mibba famous can be used against people. Suppose there's a competition, I've seen people say:
"Oh, this is a good idea and I will participate but I know a mibba famous will win." It seems like its aimed offensively... does anyone else see that?

I agree. It makes it sound as if it's their fault for being well known on Mibba/their fault if people vote for them, when really it isn't whatsoever. :XD

Oh, definitely. Andy (kafka) and I are joking about it on Twitter right now.

It's so obnoxious. Like people can help what others think of them. I've had people tell me to make sure I push the blade hard enough to kill myself or to hang myself and all sorts of god awful things. I can't control how people think of me negatively. And I can't control how they think of me positively. It's the same for any other person. Which, also means, you can't control someone who turns their nose up because you're Mibba famous.

People can be ignorant, asshole, or they can be fun. You just have to learn if you're going to let it bother your or if you're going to continue to be yourself and ignore the naysayers.
