I am pretty much going to stop role playing now. It takes a bit to resize them, so instead; I shall be going back to writing stories. lmfao

The picture thing is honestly ridiculous in my opinion.
Such as for me, where I'm not on my computer and I have gobs of pictures already saved and edited to a decent size and now, to RP, I have to go back and change them all?
They're rules, I'll follow them, but I find it completely ridiculous and pointless, I really do (and I'm sure I'm not the only one).

[ And so it isn't solely spam because God forbid I get banned from the boards for so much as sneezing out of turn and getting flecks of spit and snot on my screen to make them think that my picture is a half a pixel bigger than 100... I'm gonna post.

All these rules are so liberating. It's a magnificent feeling. Turning to a forum to escape the rigidness and structured boring day-to-day stresses only to be met with more rules. Ah. That's the life. ]
Yeah, so that's my two cents. I love the quote feature. So convenient.

^ Sorry, but it's 100x100. Higher than that is just too big, especially since these photos are being posted EVERYTIME a person speaks/post. Of course, in the first post - if the person in charge of the RP has a characters' list - they can put the full-sized photos there, but for the actual RP-posting, it needs to be 100x100.
    Question

Why can't you just have a rule that says no pictures in all the posts?

I never quite understood it, yes a pic in the first post with the charcter list maybe, likc click on the name and you follow a link to the image but i've been in successful rp's where there haven't been any need for pictures.

In my opinion you don't need a picture in every post, it would probably give people better chance to actually write in rp the expressions/facial features/colour of eyes, skin, hair etc. This is, after all, a writing site.

I like the rule of at least having a picture. At least it's there.

I like this rule. It's a compromise. Some people really don't want pictures, some people like having them there. Personally I think the new rule is fair on everybody since alternatives of links and such instead have been offered.

If you don't want to use pictures, you don't have to. The rule isn't that pictures are mandatory, it's simply, if you're going to use a picture, it needs to be a smaller size. Whether or not any specific RP allows or bans photos is up to the person who created that RP.

A lot of people like having the pictures, and it wouldn't be fair to them to say "No pictures at all" just because some people prefer it that way. We're just asking that the photos be of a sensible size.

You know, I can't figure out why people are flat out quitting RP because of this. That's just childish, honestly.

This is a writer's site, right? In your stories, do you just post a picture of the character? Or do you actually describe them?

Plus, linking a picture isn't that bad. I've seen it come into common usage here since the rule was made, and, honestly, I prefer it. My internet connection has better things to do than load masses of images that are unnecessary, and add no value to the roleplay. Even if you just put the picture in the character profile, it isn't like it's hard to find it, if you are so desperately in need of what that character looks like and can't remember.

Maybe this is because I've been roleplaying longer than some of you have been alive, but when you're forced to rely on your imagination to come up with things, throwing a hissy fit over not being able to have a massive picture directly in the post (despite the ability to still link it or use a resized version) is ridiculous.

Seriously, just replace the img tags you used before with url tags. Done.

^ Some people don't like to do that. Let some people use URL and let some peole use img. Besides, the images are tiny anyway.

That's what he was saying, that you have a lot of options - either to link to the image, to use the smaller resized image, or to not use images at all - so there's no need to quit role-playing simply because you can no longer use a large photo.

I think we're all gonna get used to it after a while. It just needs to mull over a bit. Do I think 100x is too small? Just a bit. But I like that we have all these options. One of my favorite RPs, I didn't even use a picture except for in the description.

In my stories; In the background is the person. I describe them the whole time usually through the actual story. Thats what I love about being able to have layouts for stories, you don't have to link pictures/post pictures on the actual story.
    Cute
And I don't mind quitting role playing. I need to focus on my stories anyway.... There in need of another update. lmfao

The only thing that annoys me is when you have to post a picture with every single post. But I guess that's up to the RP creators >_<
