Role-Playing Rules

  • sxephil:
Users were getting the rp posts with pictures within their search results and it was making it harder to search for things on Mibba having to navigate through the large pictures. Most were asking for there to be a no-pictures-at-all rule to be made. This is the compromise.
What do you mean? What are they searching?

  • ^ Wouldn't it be any word at all? Because when you search a word, it's bound to come up in an RP post somewhere.

I'm not sure. Twitch. Don't quote me on this.

  • ^ Wait. Searched where?
    January 18th, 2010 at 10:00pm
  • ^ You know the search function at the bottom of the board index? You can search for words within posts in there. E.g, I could search "fish" and find all the posts that have the word fish in them.

Again, don't quote me on this. Twitch.

  • ^ Okay. I know what you mean now. I didn't know you could search like that, I only knew about the topic/username part.
    January 18th, 2010 at 10:06pm
  • Okay, this isn't really in reply to this. I'm just going to say, that if I post without a pic on your roleplay, please don't make me quit. My computer is being stupid and hasn't let me resize but one of my pictures so farr. :)

  • ^ You can use this thread if you're having problems re-sizing the photo yourself.

Pictures aren't mandatory (at least not by Mibba, maybe by specific RP creators). Just saying so that people aren't thinking that I'm saying you must post a picture as you RP, the rule only applies if you do decide to use a photo.

  • I could do it for you??

PS: You totaly forgot about Nice Guys Finish Last. lmfao

  • Guys, we don't have to resize our images. I spoke to Kurtni about it, and she said this:
    Kurtni:
    Whooooa
Admins outrank mods and mods definietly cannot make things official rules. I'm an admin and even I talk rules over with Dujo. Disreguard what she said about photos. I'm sorry for the confusion.
Smile So we can keep our images whatever size we want. However, I would advise RP-ers to exercise discretion with this, and suggest setting limits in your RP's, such as "no larger than 400x400", etc.

  • Great! Smile

  • Not yet, at least. Dujo needs to decide if this should be a rule first.
And for the record, when I said admins outrank mods, it's because I was asked what the technical order is in the PM. You still have to listen to mods. Dujo just makes the final decision on rules.

Of course. I'm sorry quoting you took that out of context. Sorry
Let's hope Doju decides in our favor, fellow RP-ers. Smile

  • It might help your case if you made the pictures smaller. I mean, not icon size but maybe no bigger than 350 px tall or something in that area. It would be a nice compromise. You would still have photos that showed a physical apperance and people could search more easily. Just a suggestion. :)

Role-playing thread guidelines (Edited on 1/19/10):

    1. Each role-playing group should only have ONE thread.

    2. Similar threads ARE ALLOWED to co-exists.

Meaning, if one group has already started a vampire coven thread, another group CAN still start another vampire coven

    3. Pictures cannot exceed 100x100 pixels in size.

If your Role-Playing thread includes character pictures (that are being posted as the role-play moves along), the size of the picture being used cannot be any bigger than 100x100 pixels.

    http://i47.tinypic.com/2wn4ktv.jpg <- 100x100px.

*If you need help with resizing your photos, there’s a thread for that.

**Also, if you've started a thread and it doesn't work out or your RP comes to an end, as a courtesy, please report the thread so it can be locked and then deleted.

Role-playing thread recommend guidelines (NOT rules, just suggestions)

Here’s just a list of things I think other RPers would appreciate (from the complaints I’ve notice around the site).

Things that should be included in the RPs first post:

    - A clear and concise overview of what the RP will be about.
    - A clear list of who (both the character name and the member’s name) is involved in the RP.
    - A mention of what kind of RP it will be – whether it’s an RP where short and small responses are acceptable or if it’s an RP that requires paragraph-like responses.

*If you have any other suggestions, post 'em.

Remember that it’s up you to moderate your own RPs, to make sure that the players involved follow the rules you set up.

That's all. Have fun with your RPs!

    --------

I’d like to apologize for all the confusion that took place over the past couple of days. But I’ve since spoken to Dujo and things have been cleared up.
And a suggestion that a few people made:

    1. You can link your photo to it's full-sized photo.
    2. If the maker of the RP has a character list on their first post (where they state the RP rules and such) they can include a full-photo on that post as well.

  • Did rule three not just got taken off? Why is it still on there if an admin said we didn't have to follow it?
    January 19th, 2010 at 11:31pm
  • I'm on my iPhone, so I'll have to resize all of mine, again, tomorrow when I'm on the computer. Facepalm.

  • Na'vi.:

The rule is there now. There was some confusion before but I've spoken to Dujo and he's said that it's a rule.
    January 19th, 2010 at 11:42pm
  • Okay, I feel like an idiot right now, but I'm confused. What is the rule? I've seen 350 and 100 and I'd like to be sure. How big are our pictures supposed to be?
