Whenever I get a comment on a story and a reader says something like: "I really liked this line [insert line here], it really shows [insert characters name here] personality"

I just squeal. I love it when readers point out specific things I put in there to be pointed out, and I hate it when they just comment saying things like: 'good job, can't wait for next update'.

I mean, there's so many things I wish they would say, and that's where this thread comes in.

Post all the things you wish your readers would say about your story.

I'm generally a comment whore, I love any type of comments.

As you said, though, I love it when they point certain things out. Also, when they catch little mistakes you didn't see before. And it's amazing to me when they tell you how they took the story(what they got out of it) and/or how they think you could improve it.

    Good thread.

I wish people would say, "That's so true." Or that what I've written feels real.

I love it when people tell me what they think. Like, people who go on long tangents like "oooh, this reminded me of this thing because of this". I just love it when they leave a review that lets me glimpse what they were thinking as they read.

I love it when I know I've made them think/feel something.

I wish people would tell me they like the characters. I work really hard on my main characters, and nobody ever says anything.

I love the comments that I get on most of my stories but half the time they're only "loved the chapter! Update more soon!! Plz!!!" I really wish they'd tell me what they liked about the chapter and probably say something useful about the chapter and the characters like if they didn't care for a certain part or they didn't like what a certain character did or suggested something for me to work on.

I like hearing people's take on where they think the story is going... even though if they're wrong, I have to try so hard to keep from telling them the whole plot. :33

I love when readers notice small references, or symbols, or foreshadowing... any kind of detail, really. Like Dru, I like to see what was going on in people's heads, especially thought processes and emotional responses, like saying you felt nauseous or excited or whatever. :]

I love reviews that pull out the teeth of my stories. Like, in depth con/crit that really shows me that the reader grasps what I'm saying. I love when people tell me every thought that went through their mind while reading.

Unfortunately, only one person ever left a comment like that. XD

I wish people would tell me specifically what they liked about it . Also what they didn't. I would appreciate their comment ten times more if they told me something they hated about it and why. I'm thrilled if someone likes something out of it and says it, but that doesn't really help me improve.

Actually, over all, I just wish I got more comments. Mainly on my chaptered stories.

Like I've had people apologize for going off on a long tangent. Or they say they're not going to leave one because they don't want to, but I fucking love that. Like, ramble all you want. Seriously. I think it's amazing that you will take the time to translate your thoughts to me exactly as they went through your head. I love it so fucking much. Because it lets me know that you fucking got it, and that's all I really want. Is to know that somebody gets what I was trying to say.

tehe I love those too, Dru. They're wonderful and I love that the reader gets that into what they think of the story.

I also really like when people go crazy over the characters, because I try to put depth into them and if they get a lot of emotion from/over them, that's a good thing imo.

Please don't post this here. We have a thread for that.

This, so much. I work hard on giving my characters depth, and when people freak out because something happened to them, or they're saying how they hope something does or doesn't happen to them, I just love it.

I also really like the reviews where people tell you their emotional reactions to the story, as in not just grammar mistakes. Sure, point them out if you find them, but I'd rather know what the story itself made the reader think.

I wish I would get some constructive criticism more than the "I love this! Please update soon!" comments that I usually get. Although, those are better than no comments at all.

I wish I had anything, I know there are people out there reading but I only get the very rare "great post".

I'm hopeless at giving comments myself because I'm always so busy and I wait to read about five chapters at a time but just getting anything is great.

I wish that they'd say more than they liked it and it was well wriiten. I want to know what it reminded you of, whether or not you like my characters, if you thought whatever moment was sweet or sad or funny, if you have a friend that's like So And So, who you picture a character to look like, etc.

i like people to get into more than just how it's written.

I like to hear when people think my wording is awkward or could sound better. I hate getting punctuation comments (though I probably need those from time to time). I just like seeing reactions in comments. I love it when the reader can't articulate what they thought of it, like thier thoughts are just so all over the place that the comment barely even makes sense.
I also really like when a reader recognizes something that I purposely put in to make the whole piece more effective.
