Greatest? I'd have to go with everyone who said The Beatles. They were not the most talented musicians by any standard, but they sure as hell accomplished more than, well, pretty much everyone. And they did really change the way society thought about music. I'd say they're the greatest, without a doubt.

They're by no means my favorite, though. That would be Avenged Sevenfold, followed very closely by Papa Roach, and then a nice third of Three Days Grace. (:

This question can't be answered correctly by anyone.. Bands take dedication. Music takes dedication. You have to live, breath, and smell it. If you don't, it's very obvious you aren't in it for the right reasons. Any band that has that down is great. They are set for their career. It is very obvious to point out the fakes in the sea of real bands. It's extremely easy.

In my opinion, it is The Ramones. Many people would disagree with me, but that's okay. They started something fresh. Punk isn't the same from what Thr Ramones created..it's a lot different today. But, every band owes what they've got to The Ramones. If it wasn't for them, punk rock wouldn't exist today..and if it did, it'd suck.
They didn't even like each other, weren't friends, but they lasted over 20 years together. That's dedication. They never broke into the mainstream in the band's lifetime..they were never mainstream, never sold out. But they never stopped making music. That's what it's all about, you see. They were never rich or too famous. But they never gave up. They did what they loved and loved what they did. That is great. Beautiful, even. No one can top that.

The question is "Who do YOU think the greatest band is?"

Whoever answer the questions gets it correct for themselves.

Zimmerman the question I ask was to get an opinion from othe perople of who they think is the greatest band. I know that many bands are very dedicated to their work but I was simply just asking who the public thought was the greatest. So that does make the answer correct no matter who they say.

My gut reaction is to say Refused. If I thought about it I'd probably think of a more 'deserving' band of the title, but Refused were so incredible.

I'd say bands like the Dead Kennedys. Simply because they laid the foundations and helped with the birth of punk.

    beehehe...

Metallica is the greatest in my universe.

Although, I think Black Sabbath is highly influential on any metal band. Even if he joined after they kicked Ozzy out, Ronny James Dio popularized the devil horns. It is actually a religious symbol used to repeal evil and his grand mom mom used to use it on him all the time, lol. \m/

    Judas Priest.

I think they shaped Heavy Metal. Their music was so different from all rock bands back then. I absolutely love how, by 1977, they could make an album with fast, powerful songs like Dissident Aggressor, and at the same time, delicate, love songs like Last Rose of Summer. I love they didn't have to be dark or into the occult to be the Metal Gods. They made up their own image, and their own sound, and probably without them, metal would be in-existent by now.

Oh, God, I seriously love Judas Priest In Love
