Oh jesus... I should just start a story orphanage. I've got no problems starting stories, but finishing them? Oh, no way.
^ This. I can't start half of the stories I get ideas for, either. It sucks. I get all these awesome ideas, but then I can't come up with titles, proper summaries, or good ways to start them. I only know how the middle of the story can turn out.

In My Documents, I have a folder for my writing. In that folder are three other folders. Finished, active, and inactive.

    GUESS WHICH ONE'S THE BIGGEST?

    Inactive. Something like 30 documents.

I have a few that I probably won't ever write. I'll probably stick them in the adopt a story thread that Dru made a while ago. Thread isn't that active anymore but it's still useful if the right person looks in it.

I need this thread so bad! Hail I was just thinking today about all of the stories I need to update. Facepalm

I got some serious issues with Ashes to Ashes and Night Angel.

And that's only two stories that I'm having trouble with. Facepalm There are at least six more. No matter what I do, I just can't find it in me to write the next chapter. I try soooo hard, and it's not like I don't have the plots and ideas for them. There are just no words coming out.
I get that too! Although, I think for me it's three parts laziness, one part lack of inspiration. I can be a sounding board if you'd like, I guess if you want to see if something fits in okay with the story or if you want to check the wording... I feel I haven't made myself too clear, but anyway, if you need help you can ask me Laughing

I said I would complete Putting Holes in Happiness. But every time I go to do this, the spark seems to be gone. It's the last in my Manson trilogy. I'm not writing any more Manson fics once this one is done. I don't know if I honestly want to finish this one though.

I am very soon to be finished with Kings Shall be Kings. I need about three days of support for this one. But without the support, I'm sure I'll finish it. I only need to write six more chapters.

I have a lot of stories started (they either have partial chapters written for them or just a summary started) and then I have these stories that are slowly getting updated despite having a completed outline to them. Like my stories, Last Life and Blooming Ties. XD

Ughhh. I have two Sherlock pieces on the go, but I seem to have lost all drive for them. I haven't finished a piece for over a year now, and i was so excited about these but I can't seem to get anything down. I think lack of confidence in doing the fandom justice is my problem. Sherlock Holmes is such a legendary character and so hard to nail. :/

I disappeared off the face of Mibba for a while, but now I'm back. Bye
I have two stories that are currently unfinished (because I left without finishing them), but I'm more interested in one than the other.
Sadly, I'm still enduring my dry season of writing so I'm not that inspired to finish either of them. Twitch
I may start Dream In Subconscious over completely because the Preface or whatever is complete crap! Yak
But I really like Identical to the Eye. It's just that I've lost some of the excitement I had when I first started it.

^Hey. Read the start of Dream in Subconscious, although I haven't got round to 'Identical to the Eye'.

The prologue for DiS does seem a little clunky- like you're trying to a lot of ideas into one space, and they don't really want to mesh. It also feels a little like a textbook- particularly the second line 'This instance is when you are dreaming.'
The syntax is also a little bit off in places.
However it isn't 'complete crap' at all. It has it's good elements as well as it's bad- I'll tell you my favourite bits in a comment on the story, as well as offer some more detailed con/crit. Maybe try reworking it? I'd be happy to read any redrafts if you'd like.

All in all, you have a pretty good prologue there- I am definitely interested in reading the rest of the story, and will be subscribing.

Hopefully, I'll get round to reading and commenting Identical to the Eye soon, but these things can be a bit touch and go :/

I always have a problem keeping committed to my writing. I don't know what it is that makes me quit, but I usually do. I have several stories on and off site that I have written and not continued to write it. But I have one in particular that I want to write but have no idea where to start... Drives me nuts. :/

^Which one in particular do you really want to keep writing on?

    ---

I don't write fan fiction anymore but I do have some old stories that still are unfinished and I actually want to finish them but I think I need some help with my commitment. I need to know that there's even a point in finishing them or if it's just a waste of time and they're just crap.

There are three stories I've begun writing on again but let's start with "Pretend Just pretend".

Is there a point in finishing the story? Is it worth reading?

Most of the persons who read it are not on Mibba anymore so it'd be great to know there are still those around who want to read it. It got a lot of positive feedback back when it was posted but I just need some reassurance, I suppose.

    This thread totally died. XD

I have so much trouble sticking to a story long enough to finish it. I have a document on word with about six story ideas that I have planned, but have never finished them. I have started writing most of them but just can't continue writing them after the first chapter. I really want to write them, but I just can't commit to them.

    @ aubs
Have you posted any of them? I've been posting a lot of stories and not having any commitment in finishing/continuing them as well.

I posted one a while ago, but took it down because I couldn't get past the first chapter. I don't have any stories on here at the moment because I am working on them on word. I just want to write enough before I actually post anything.

That makes sense. What story are you currently working on? Maybe you can have someone look over what you have so far? Even if it's just a paragraph? Like i could see what you have so far. :)

This actually might not be what you're going for at all, but posting the stories on Mibba could maybe help you stay committed, depending on how you are with people telling you to update and stuff! If you have people that you know are reading your stories and enjoying them, you might be more inclined to write them and stick with them, because you're not the only one invested in them, you know? It obviously doesn't work for everyone, but it might help you, unless you've already tried that! Sorry if my advice is awful XD

I'm working on one story right now, but I don't have any chapters to it yet because I am having a hard time starting the story, unfortunately. Why does writing the beginning have to be so hard?

    @ Maddi;
I tried that, but I still lost motivation for the story that was posted. I don't know why thought. I think if I get through writing one chapter, then I can get through writing more chapters, you know?

That I don't know. Do you have an outline for it? Try writing a random scene you have in your head and go from there.

    @ Hina;
I have the chapter title names, which are basically an outline for me at the moment. I just need to start it, I think, and then I can get through writing it.
